$10 Shipping!
0$10 for shipping. Longtime customer here who checks everyday to see what’s offered and who buys from time to time. $10 for shipping is absolutely too much for a number of reasons. One being, sometimes your daily Meh offering is less than $10. I will never pay a shipping amount that cost almost what the product cost. Not gonna happen! I know you are not Amazon but I think this amount for shipping is too much and the cost of membership ain’t much better! I remember $5 membership was not that long ago. I’m disappointed. What happened?

Yeah, we’ve been talking about this on other threads. I think the postage thing is a threat to meh.com’s business model. We could probably go back in time and see their sales dip because the postage discourages impulse purchases. Meh may need to dump or bundle the small crap to get the minimum price to $20 or more.
/showme mediocrebot struggling with the mathematics of postage.
@cfg83 Here’s the image you requested for “mediocrebot struggling with the mathematics of postage.”
@mediocrebot Sorry, but nothing is forever.
I have no horse in this race (I don’t get paid more or less based on our sales), but I’m sure you’ll find my response biased. Regardless, have you tried to send anything in the mail recently? At least 9 out of 10 items on Meh will cost you more than $10 to ship. Sure, we have bulk shipping and stuff, but it’s not like we increased the shipping cost to make more on items…it’s just to TRY to make the same amount we used to. Time goes by, prices go up. Not something we can control if we want to stay in business. And it’s not like people run companies with the goal of “stay in business.” I mean, anyone who runs a business knows the one reason you do it is to make money, so “break even” isn’t really viable as a model. Just my two cents, for what they’re worth.
@ExtraMedium true. Even with Pirate ship, I’ve spent at least $50 on shipping costs for the various exchange packages I’ve sent in the last few weeks. Everything has gone up.
@ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni I concur. It’s one reason I do more local sales. I have no clue how some people are making money whether Etsy or eBay or whatever when they offer free shipping. Granted most of the things I make are not super light unless they’re magnets or earrings. But the box I recently sent out weighed around 10pounds and cost twice as much to send as some corporate boxes I made for a firm just over a year ago. Those boxes were larger and weighed 15 pounds. So yeah. Shipping is a factor. Amazon has kind of ruined people on the shipping front.
@ExtraMedium This does not apply 1:1 to meh, but I think meh may need to do the bundling :
/showme in the style of South Park. The President of Meh.com hears about the upcoming shipping war and raises the stakes by announcing a Brack Friday Bunduru which includes four cold brew coffee makers, a map of the gulf of America, a United States champion of war trophy, and an automatic pre-order for Grand Theft Auto VI.

@ExtraMedium I feel you. My Meh exchange box cost me $33 for a less than 2 lb. box. Worth it, my choice, not complaining, but damn the contents were less than that.
@cdf12345 Ok …

I get it. I can’t compare Amazon’s free shipping model to Meh’s even though Meh’s is cheaper. I don’t do as much ordering as I used to because I have Meh stuff in my closet that I ordered that I never used, no offense to Meh. I still love to be surprised by the daily offers and will definitely order again if I see something I want.
@tonye33 Yeah, I can’t ju$tify the impulse purchases anymore. I will only buy something I know I will actually put to use.
Wow. So keeping VMP is actually a perk now. #winning
@medz Valuable Meh Perk?
@medz @phendrick
Yeah. I think having kept VMP all these years is probably still running close to a break even for what I would have paid if I had actually shipped the products at the (then) current prices.
And yes by and large shipping is a major meh expense I’m sure.
@chienfou @medz And of course also covers sbipping at the sister sites (notably Casemates) and purchase discounts at times.
@chienfou @medz But I do think we’re overdue for an occasional surprise perk. Such as at least sending another pair of Meh socks as frequently as a pair wears out.
@phendrick yes. Mercatalyst socks
@medz @phendrick

/giphy sock it to me
I guarantee you I cleaned up on $6 shipping when I bought my current Onkyo receiver from Meh. Ditto the Onkyo speakers- the subwoofer alone is the size of a small ottoman.
@bobbane Although I’d imagine that they worked into the price of the product the cost of shipping above since likely cost more than the membership cost.
What isn’t obvious is that with the advent of captive delivery systems for aggregation-shippers like Temu, Shein and AliExpress, plus Amazon seeing fewer outgoing shipments and certain other retailers feeling even more of a pinch, shipping volume via the traditional carriers (UPS, USPS and FedEx) is down across the country. UPS recently began laying off staff, and will likely close or merge certain facilities. Rates are going up as a result. And yet, the overall trade deficit hasn’t fallen. And everybody is getting less for their buck than they used to.
I understand Meh’s costs have gone up… And $5 to $10 over the last three or four years probably accurately reflects the cost of things going up.
… But whereas Meh’s cost of shipping may have doubled… My paycheck hasn’t.
I understand why meh raises the prices… They have to, but it does kill the impulse buy (which has been where most of my purchases have come from over the past decade).
There’s been at least 5 purchases since the price change went into affect. That I probably would have made but shipping soured it for me…
I get it the price increase; I like Meh, I want them to succeed. But the bump in shipping has dampened my shopping here.
@OnionSoup
Shipping prices have gone up, but I think Meh’s approach was poor. Meh shipping prices should have gone up gradually year after year instead of a 67% jump over night.
Like you, the cost of shipping will decrease my interest in purchasing items for myself and for friends. Unless it’s a large purchase (for example a vacuum) or something I plan on ordering multiple of, I’ll be hesitant to buy.
I clicked to make a purchase and saw the new shipping price. I closed it and went to Amazon.
