I saw this ad on Wal-Mart’s website just now and found it rather titillating. I’ve celebrated a few things on mattresses, but savings wasn’t one of them. What’s your favorite “Whoops” ad?
There’s a car commercial- can’t remember the brand - that has a line saying, “My daughter grew up in the back seat of this car.” Makes me giggle every time.
@AnnaB Subaru is the brand. The point of the ad is the car last so long she goes from riding in the car seat to driving it. Of course they leave out the all wheel drive eats so much gas the parents can’t send her to college.
Not necessarily hilarious, but I got a chuckle out of an ad on HP’s front page a few years ago, showing a “supercharged gaming PC”, with a screenshot from Halo 3. Which is of course, not on PC. Also, the screenshot they grabbed was one from many years prior, where people had specifically tried to recreate the cover scene from Halo 1.
@sprockett01 Oh yeah, Halo 1 was definitely available for PC. (which would have also been amusing I suppose, since the PC release was in 2003, and that screen shot was taken in 2013) But the shot they used is from the Halo 3 map Valhalla, with players lining things up for the classic halo 1 box art. Here’s the original Halo 3 screenshot for a better look. They stretched it and tweaked the colors a bit, but it’s definitely the same scene.
I remember a few years ago the State Fair was promoting having Jared Fogle in to talk about healthy eating (back when he was the Subway spokesman, before we knew he was a predator). That same day they were also promoting their competitive eating competitions. I think I still have a screenshot on my computer from that.
Not an add, but the truly terrible headline I saw last week was the one that said “Woman raped, shot and eaten by alligators” and was listed that way on Yahoo! news for over 12 hours before it was corrected to “Woman raped, shot and fed to alligators” . It was a ghastly enough occurrence as it was, without the poorly worded headline suggesting that alligators perpetrated a rape.
@DrWorm I had the same reaction when I saw that headline! Horribly sad story; if I remember correctly it was the poor girl that went missing in Myrtle Beach. I remember when her disappearance was on the news and I had hoped she made it home.
So…traveling through Arkansas several years back we stopped in the middle
of no where to take a break. Saw a sign that says, “Puppies for sale de-nutted”
@tinamarie1974 Being from Arkansas I must ask why that is so humorous. Is there only supposed to be one “t”, or is the hyphen not supposed to be there?
@medz I get the jab, but renting a storage unit for the creeped out people to live in is kinda’ a dick move. I mean, just put the dolls in the storage uni… oh… nevermind.
I’ll always remember the McDonald’s billboard that showed the guy thinking about a double cheeseburger. And he’s like, “Double cheeseburger? I’d hit it. I’m a dollar menu guy.”
That is a funny find!
One of my favorite ads was a sign (for barns) at my local state fair that said “fall erections available”.
I celebrate savings with hookers on mattresses. Sometimes we use the couch.
@capguncowboy I would think a couch would be pretty unstable on a mattress.
My favorite was the display in groceries store for Passover delicacies. Right next to the sale on pork.
A billboard in town a few years ago “Is your doctor sterile? I am”.
Celebrate mattress savings on a mattress for in honor of “labor” day?

@dino2269 Well, sure, I get the point of the commercial. But that line is ill-phrased.
@AnnaB you reminded me of this old commercial
@KMakato that’s hysterical
A few days ago LoseIt (calorie tracking app) had an ad for plus-sized clothing. It’s good to have a backup plan, in any case.

@Cetega cannot tell because the picture is tiny, but halo1 was on pc. I had it… i just think that’s a pic of halo 1. I am not sure of anything though.

And apparently it’s still in the archives, haha. I always forget Archive.org is a thing, heh: https://web.archive.org/web/20130514170254/http://www.hp.com/

I saw a huge sign in front of a furniture store in Georgia advertising “We have gluten free mattresses!”
@Pantheist Are they also dolphin-safe?

@DrWorm NTM shooting her with those really short little alligator arms. I’m guessing, with a derringer?

My favorite will always be a WI grocery store called Dick’s.
Their savings program was named Dick’s Insider club.
Runner up was the gas station with a store named Kum & Go.
Yes, it is amusing.

@jsimsace Ive ben speeling “purpul” rong!
Local adult novelty store has advertised a “huge toy sale”. This cracks me up every time i see their sign.

@medz Ugh, why did you change the gif?
@medz This was funny!
@jqubed funny! I wonder what was in the cart?
@jqubed cuz it wouldn’t load for me. Sorry, bruh.
Saw today at a mini storage place.
“Your doll collection is creeping people out. Units available!”
@medz I get the jab, but renting a storage unit for the creeped out people to live in is kinda’ a dick move. I mean, just put the dolls in the storage uni… oh… nevermind.

@meshneiarin I also remember the revised tag-line (not sure if improvement) of “pound one”
I thought this was a great and yet hilarious advertisement for this particular story.
