@elimanningface
This is what I do with my dress shoes (is that what they are called?). They are loose enough to slip off, but too tight to slip back on.
@elimanningface That’s what I do. That way, the laces don’t get loose or tangled while they are off. If I unlace then when I take them off, then I have to tuck them in somewhere, then have to pull them back out to put the shoes back on. That’s extra work, since the laces are easier to find if they are still tied. Untying them when I’m ready to put them on is just more efficient.
All my sneakers are able to be slipped on and off. I don’t wear them so tight. Sometimes I’ll use a shoe horn. I dislike having to retie my shoes. I guess years of wearing Airwalks spoiled me, but those were so loose I could kick them off. My day to day sneakers, I can’t.
I use the Klutz Book of Knots method to tie my shoes, which means I tie them when I buy them, and they’re still tied when I eventually throw them away.
I have to untie them. Size 13 wide, plus left leg is very weak and numb all the way to the foot, right leg is numb to the knee and that foot is numb as well. So, I can’t pry my shoes off untied no matter how hard I try.
Most of my shoes are boots; even those I wear on ‘dress’ occasions are just nice looking black boots. They have to untie to go on or off. I keep wondering about the zipper replacements for the laces but the reviews have kept me from trying them.
I used to have velcro strap, and slip-on boots that I used for dog walking; they slid on and off easily, including once or twice when I stepped into deep mud or snow. I’m quite ok with the effort to untie and tie since then.
Dude!!! Untie your shoes. My wife and kids do not understand this simple concept that makes it easier to get them off your feet. Shockingly, when you retie them, which take roughly the same amount of time as struggling to get the already tied shoes on, they tend to fit better and are more comfortable. Interesting . . .
Only if they’re high tops that won’t slip off without untying.
@Pony Same, everything but my Chuck Taylors I can slip on, even my work boots.
Does unVelcro count?
@huja That was my first thought too.
@Stumpy91 I guess you and I both buy clothes and shoes from the pages of Parade magazine.
@huja Shoelaces are as overrated as belts are. Beltless Slacks
I tied them once, for Pete’s sake-- why would I need to untie or retie them ever again?
Slip on… slip off… slip on… slip off…
I like these.

@zachdecker On one hand, $8 for shoelaces is absurd and no one who was truly a vmp would buy them. On the other hand I kind of want them.
@zachdecker ICYMI, I wouldn’t think that the subset of folks described therein would be so large as to point out their ease of use of these laces:
EASY TO USE: Our locking system is special designed to be easy to use by everyone, even by kids of people with disabilities.
therefore, I think @skemmehs is secretly writing copy for Amazon!
Have to untie work boots and high tops. But I have never untied my Sambas. And my motorcycle boots have a zipper, so…
I like these
So it’s not normal to slip them off and then untie them later when you need to put them back on?
@elimanningface
It is completely normal.
@elimanningface This is what I do. Seems normal to me… Lol.
@elimanningface Not normal, you are weird. Why would you untie them to put them on?
@elimanningface et es knormall

@elimanningface Nope!
somewhere between choice #2 and part e.wer

Um… Then why do they have zippers?
It’s either that or my Salomons with the speed laces. What is this tie/untie of which you speak?
I use the Klutz Book of Knots method to tie my shoes, which means I tie them when I buy them, and they’re still tied when I eventually throw them away.
I can kick on/off my sneakers, and shoehorn the work shoes. I’d wager that it is bad for your feet to bind them up too tightly.
I always buy the boots/shoes with the lace hooks at the top. Tie them tight, unhook to remove, rehook when you put them on.

@sammypedram what struggle? I grab the tongue and stick my finger in the shoe at the heel. It takes two seconds to slip them on.
@RiotDemon The struggle is real . . . at least for my three year old …
