This poll was nearly as restrictive as this sham of a 2-for-Tuesday! I was relegated to choosing "Yes, for all" despite the practical inaccuracy of the choice. I mix for nutrition, flavor, and caffeine... but NEVER for medicine. What, do you think I'm some sort of geriatric??
The only powder-like substance I mix with water is sugar to make simple syrup. I use half regular sugar and half turbinado because it adds a little something.
No way!! I do it the right way.. I mix the water with the powdered stuff (doesn't everybody?) mix the powdered stuff with the water and it just floats then when you stir it becomes clumpy and gooky.. Pour the powder in THEN the water and it won't float as easily as you stir. (got that tip from Julia Child's Dachshund)
Since moving to Mexico I've "discovered" agua de sabor, which is basically koolaid under different brands and a huge variety of flavors: watermelon, cantelope, mango, guava, hibiscus, coconut, and horchata (a rice/cinnamon drink). A packet costs a couple pesos (so, 15¢ U.S.) and makes 2 liters.
As a former coffee snob, I should probably be ashamed to admit I drink instant coffee, but I'm not. I drink a store brand (Ke Precio) that dissolves well even in cold water. I go through 2 400 gram jars a week, so I end up spending around $5 U.S. to be constantly jacked up on caffeine.
I may be a cheap bastard, but I lead an exciting life, drinking exotically flavored water and room temperature coffee.
@42snails drug dealers? Those looking to make a name in the police reform market? Or, cheap bastards hopping on the exotically flavored water and room temperature coffee bandwagon.
@42snails from what I've seen, old retired people, creative types, and weirdos bored with the USA. Possibly fugitives. I don't know why @Mavyn thinks drug dealers move to Mexico (unless it's to retire, in which case see: old people). Drug dealers moving to Mexico makes as much sense as trying to import cocaine to Columbia.
@Marcos_El_Malo .. We've got horchatas here too (usually walking the streets of Vegas after dark). No one should drink the water in Mexico when they got such good beer (pass the Corona please).
@unkabob I'm an ex-drinker from Los Angeles. We used to get(and probably still do) a beer called Noche Buena around Christmas time. Anyway, come and visit. We got Corona in quart bottles.
@Marcos_El_Malo ... I'll come and visit simply because your talking California.. The Noche Buena (or Corona) will just be the cream on top. Quart bottles, eh?
@JonT it's good, can report. There's a chocolate pb that's even better. Mix it with coconut oil and freeze it for a kick ass kinda not bad for you candy
Not with water. In the summer I make smoothies with whey protein, almond-coconut milk, ice, Greek yogurt, and fresh fruit. If I am short on fresh fruit I substitute a bit of Hershey's Special Dark chocolate syrup. But this requires a blender. That whey protein takes more than a vigorous shaking to blend smoothly.
@lisaviolet It had my interest until I saw it contains sucralose. Booo! Bad stuff. Sucralose has actually caused me respiratory issues (which isn't uncommon for it.) I'm sticking to my Nuun tablets which use acesulfame potassium or stevia. The cherry limeade is awesome.
I don't actually add anything to my water. However, My husband adds powder for flavor and he will love these glasses and so will our eight grandchildren. The price for these glasses is fantastic!!!
i don't think cocaine mixes with water.
@carl669 It totally does.
@hairylugs82 And you would know this how…?
@hairylugs82 thanks for the info. my morning coffee has an extra kick to it now.
@carl669 Salts do, free-base does not
I like that Crystal Lite sometimes.
Crystal Light tea. I drink it probably more than I should.

@hairylugs82 Theraflu hot is good stuff.
@Thumperchick In what way is caffeine not medicinal?
@InnocuousFarmer I think it is. Perhaps you meant to ask @hairylugs82
@hairylugs82 rum toddy or lemon with honey for that cold.
@Thumperchick hahah, whoops

Yes, for nutrition?
@2many2no Define "nutrition".
Does pre-mixed water with fluoride count?
@gikku it's calcifying our pineal gland, MAAAAAN!

@Marcos_El_Malo who moves to mexico?
@42snails drug dealers? Those looking to make a name in the police reform market? Or, cheap bastards hopping on the exotically flavored water and room temperature coffee bandwagon.
@Marcos_El_Malo whats a gram?
@42snails from what I've seen, old retired people, creative types, and weirdos bored with the USA. Possibly fugitives. @RedHot it's the part of a s'more that provides structure and stability.
@Marcos_El_Malo Drug dealers aren't the brightest bulbs.
A lot of republicans fled to Mexico and Canada in 2008 for some reason.
@RedHot depends what street you're buying it on...
@Marcos_El_Malo Noche Buena is amazingly good. I hope it shows up locally this year.
@Marcos_El_Malo ... I'll come and visit simply because your talking California.. The Noche Buena (or Corona) will just be the cream on top. Quart bottles, eh?
@Marcos_El_Malo ... by the way, the agua de sabor.. How close to taste is the watemelon? I would love a true tasting watermelon drink..
Does finely ground coffee count as powder?
@rockblossom I would say no because you're brewing the coffee with it but the grounds don't get mixed in, they're filtered out.
@AltairDusk unless you're my husband who somehow makes coffee where you can chew the grounds. I don't even know how he does it.
@42snails Sounds like it's time for meh to put some good coffee makers on sale!
I don't, but my wife does a lot. High protein energy drinks, lemonade, and her current fav - peanut butter powder.
@olperfesser I was thinking about getting some of that peanut butter stuff but I can't imagine it tastes all that good.
@JonT it's good, can report. There's a chocolate pb that's even better. Mix it with coconut oil and freeze it for a kick ass kinda not bad for you candy
@JonT my understanding is that it indeed tastes good, but the manufacturing process removes most of the nutritional value.
I crush the bones of my enemies and mix them in my chocolate milk.
Mmmmm, sweet revenge.
@The_Baron Oooohh! Calcium!
@rockblossom Bone fortifying justice. (and maybe cookies)
Particularly odd timing as I just sat down with a cup of caramel hot chocolate and then saw this question. So uh, yes - for flavor.
Not with water. In the summer I make smoothies with whey protein, almond-coconut milk, ice, Greek yogurt, and fresh fruit. Yep. An energy powder. In a recycled water bottle with a screw on cap that won't spill when the cats knock it over.
The citrus flavor is kind of bitter at the end, but the other flavors are pretty good. Cheapest at Costco, either in store or online.

@lisaviolet Amazon has a great price on the variety packs as well - 79 cents a serving. I live for this stuff.
@Sparky_Susan That's a really good price. I have one a day. At least. I like the no crashing part.
Not a thing.
I don't actually add anything to my water. However, My husband adds powder for flavor and he will love these glasses and so will our eight grandchildren. The price for these glasses is fantastic!!!
@karlawithak Hope you enjoy them Carla!
Do you even blend bro?
protein + water in a real mixing bottle, taste bad man
I add Mio or Kroger-Mio-Equivalent to my water while at the office. But I still bought these. I am doing it wrong.
At the oppo-casa, we use faux-Crystal Light to make 2-3 liters of delicious fruit punch at a time.
It's good for my babies. My babies like hot cocoa. I love auto close function of the bottle.
@chywoo Do you squirt some on your wrist before giving it to them?
