Reminds me of the Switch game trials Nintendo puts out. I was able to download the entire Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker game and complete it within the trial period, for free!
@blaineg@sammydog01 gotta catch em all. Lol I think that is my current game. Just making sure I collect and download things I will never play.
EA created some EA client to replace Origin. All I was doing was patching things. It forced an upgrade to replace origin and wipes all your installed games without telling you. They have know for a long time so my current game is redownloading 100s of GB of games on my 1Mbps connection.
Epic Game Store has free game(s) every week starting on Thursday. Free to keep, not demos.
It does require that you download and install the free Epic Games Launcher (similar to Valve’s Steam.) Seems like all the game platforms have a launcher now that discs are pretty much dead. Also check Amazon Games, Origin, Microsoft Games, GOG, and Ubisoft. Kind of a pain to run the launcher to play the games, especially since some of them don’t do as good a job as Steam at keeping you logged in, but it is what it is.
@2many2no For GOG, at least, there is usually an option to install the game and not have to use the launcher.
I’ve been a GOG user for over ten years and have never installed the launcher. I think a few games require it, but most don’t.
@2many2no@Limewater The GOG Galaxy launcher is amazing and wonderful because you can link it to most all the other storefronts/launchers and have an integrated view of all your games, no matter where you bought them.
I don’t use it much for launching games, but I use it all the time to see what games I’ve already bought, so I don’t accidentally buy them again somewhere else.
@2many2no@Limewater there is but gog is not bad. I mean you have to have steam. Then some games you buy on steam just use uplay/ea/origin. Epic still tends to be a memory hog/slow but still. Free games. Sales. Then there is Battle.net. Etc etc.
The most annoying thing is when it launches through another app
Also speaking of Epic they have pretty decent seasonal sales that nearly rival Steam’s own. They’ll offer a coupon during these sales like $10 off games $14.99 or higher so you can slap that on to get a good chunk off a game you might have been eyeing.
Between the free offerings and the coupon during sales I’ve snagged myself some good stuff to play.
@Targaryen their sales are reasonable/happen around the same time. The whole rolling coupon thing seems a little weird. Just have the $10 off of the price or don’t. Just… Why…
Epic occasionally has the game on sale for $25 which includes all the DLCs and extras.

I think I was unclear. Grab it now, keep it forever.
“Now” ends Thursday morning.
@blaineg I pick up their free games every week. I’ve only ever played one. Maybe some day…
