Do you like American Music?
8Went to see Thick, Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees, Violent Femmes and Flogging Molly last night in Seattle. I’ve seen most of them multiple times and it was pretty tough wearing a mask and dancing like a crazy person but it was SO worth it! The Femmes were amazing. I also realized just how big a band nerd I am because I geeked out like crazy, as I do every time I see the femmes, because they always tour with a contra sax and it makes me weak in the knees. So if they’re coming to your neck of the woods, drop everything and buy tickets. Go and see them. It is AMAZING! That is all!

Le swoon
Also they had Why do Birds Sing shirts and Vinyl. This was my introduction to the femmes when I was 13 and we would scrounge change for gas money to ride around in my best friend’s sisters nova listening to that album on repeat. So much nostalgia last night!

@carl669
Also not going to lie I thought about your crusty tangerine lovin scurvy avoidin lily livered arse when Flogging Molly played Seven Deadly sins!
@sillyheathen admittedly, i’d never heard of flogging molly until they played devil’s dance floor at the gym during a workout a few years ago.
@carl669 I think they opened with Devils Dance Floor. I’ve seen them about 15 times now and I told my friend I was okay if we left early because she’s seen them over 20 times. But of course as soon as they started playing I was jumping up and down and dancing like a crazy person!
Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees are regularly featured on one of my favorite internet radio stations:

I like American music!
@melonscoop but I like American music BEST……baby!
@sillyheathen I was in my lower to mid teen years during the early 90s, and a friend told me I had to listen to the Violent Femmes. I did, and was of course hooked.
It was not until many many years later that I learned that the band was most active long before I first heard them. Their music just felt SO DAMN RIGHT and connected so strongly with my moody teen self that I had assumed the songs had all been written and released as I was first hearing them.
And now, after writing this, I feel duty bound to introduce the Femmes to the next generation of moody youths.
@melonscoop all the yes! When we were at the show Gordon was talking about how they formed in 81 and it was just crazy to think that they’d been together as long as I have breathed breath on the planet. I didn’t hear Blister in the Sun until I’d been listening to them for a while and it’s probably one of my least favorite songs by them though I get the appeal to the masses. They still rock it out and have such an amazing sense of humor in their stage presence. I will continue to go to their shows as long as they tour. They’re truly amazing!
@melonscoop @sillyheathen No body to goto prom with me.
