Do you have unopened Meh merchandise?
15Unwanted/unneeded stuff from IRKs doesn’t count. Do you have actual purchases from Meh that you either forgot about, just haven’t gotten around to needing yet, or otherwise have not opened? I’m just curious. Ironically, both of the things I have yet to unpack are inflatable: a giant pool float with Bluetooth speakers and power bank built-in from a few years back, and more recently, a big inflatable unicorn ring. Go figure. (That reminds me, I have two new blow up buddies I should make a thread about soon, for those of you who like seeing them!)

Always wondered about the username but this seems to confirm the pool-toy part really means just that.
@pmarin My fursona is very literally a pooltoy wolf. Heheh
Does the IRK plushy count? He’s still in the plastic bag.
@cengland0 He counts!
@cengland0
I have 2 of them still suffocating in their plastic coffins!
@Lynnerizer Me too. Had I known the next IRK was going to include an IRK, I wouldn’t have paid $20 for the plushy alone. I thought it was going to be a one-time offer and couldn’t buy it later in a bundle or anything else. Anyway, that’s how I ended up with 2 that are suffocating. Mine has a little company sitting next to my stuffed Victoria Secret stuffed sheep.
@cengland0 @PooltoyWolf I assumed you meant more, “I have meh packages laying around and I don’t know what’s in them”. Which side people do do. I at least open before stacking
@cengland0 I unwittingly bought 2 of the IRK dolls (didn’t realize an order went through while the servers were shitting the bed) and then got the one with the IRK as well. So yeah, one is still suffocating.
Also, shoutouts to GMail for just collapsing two messages with the same subject into one line with a little number 2 beside it.
@djslack I don’t like that gmail feature. I believe that is called “Conversation View” and you can turn that off in settings. Don’t know why they have that turned on by default – who would want that as a feature?
There are some things that came in multiples that are unopened because either:
a) I didn’t need as many as I got.
b) The first item was so bad, I never got round to using the others… I’m looking at you, arc-lighters that seemed so cool in theory.
@OnionSoup eh. The arc-lighers are fine? Probably not if you smoke but I can start a fire with one. Not that I bother regularly
@unksol oh, I couldnt get them to ignite anything.
@OnionSoup interesting. I would have liked a stronger arc. But I knew the science. Based on looking at it more than a piece of paper was optimistic.
But it did/does that fine. You could have gotten a defective one. You have to insert i between
Speaking of pool toys, I’ve got a giant inflatable avocado and pit/ball I think I got from here. It’s still in a box but that’s because it’s currently below freezing.
@dave That’s for the best anyway heh, vinyl can crack at such low temps!
@dave
I have the pineapple pool float still sitting in a box from years ago but I also a stash of brand new pool floats sitting in a box (I like to have options).
I have none whose outer box remains unopened. I have quite a few things in the getaroundtoit stack whose merch packaging remains untouched. And LOADS of three-packs of craft paint that haven’t been split.
@werehatrack oh yeah. I absolutely have unopened stuff from irks. Trackrs and paint.
@OnionSoup @werehatrack has anyone found an environment-friendly to dispose of either of the above?
@OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack Paint to a school art department.
@OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack
I’m big into gifting on our local “Buy Nothing” group or other FREE gifting sites. The entire process makes me feel good, keeping stuff out of the landfill AND… brightening someone’s day, sometimes in ways you would’ve never imagined!
@Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack I feel like it depends on what it is. Some things. Mehbe. Most theyd much prefer the money. Some, like the tracr. Just giving them ewaste unless they have a project to use it in some like local area
@Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @unksol @werehatrack I wonder if knitters could use the Trackrs as stitch markers?
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack not… Sure? How so?
I could see if a specific school STEM project could come up with a use for them as a project. Sure. Here are a few thousand
@Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @unksol @werehatrack Well, I don’t knit, so they might not be suitable at all. But a closed stitch marker gets placed at a certain point on the knitting needle to show where a different stitch should start and you slide it from one needle to the other as you go. These might dangle too low and get in the way, I don’t know.
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack tracrs are more. “I’m some where in this 120ft. Or whatever radius.” They aren’t precise enough to be useful for much. The idea was that everyone had one in everything. Once everyone head a receiver. And if enough people did it could be tracked. That was never going to happen.
I still want to pretend someone could use them but they are consumer products… Just you know. Ewaste em. Meh knows it too though
@Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @unksol @werehatrack Oh, I don’t mean use them electronically. Just physically as little hanging objects.
@Kyeh @Lynnerizer @OnionSoup @pmarin @werehatrack yeah I got that… You’d have to shuck the dead battery. And then if it’s physically useful? IDK.
I’d rather some bored kid have some to experiment with but the reality is by the time they can it’s probablynot a useful component.
If it was something dumb like a
/youtube juicero juicer
Hey. At least there’s a motor. I held onto motors of things I tore apart.
Our solid waste district collects hazardous waste on a per car fee.oil. radiator fluid. paint but that’s an easy give away. … Electronics is per item although the tracrs… how would they?A local scrap metal company which they have literally tossed my oil filters into the bin…
And recycling is relative to them… What can we make money on…
Luminoodles for under counter . Two boxes. Yep.
@catthegreat looking at a loominoodle box right now. oh wait, no, I moved it… the unopened box became a support for some other item I was moving around and looking for a temporary spot.
@pmarin
@catthegreat
I’ve got the Luminoodle box only semi used, I ended up only needing half of them. They sure did sit around for several weeks before they were opened though.
They’re on the way to going right back into the box IF I don’t figure out how to set them up correctly!
I haven’t seen how to set them so the motion detection feature goes off after walking away. On the switch they’ve got a set of 4 lights to choose from and that’s got to be what I’m looking for! The instructions being MIA hasn’t been helpful but I’m pretty sure that was our own fault. I haven’t come across that specific info online yet but I’m kind of over the whole thing since I’m not thrilled with the half hearted and horrible installation that my guy did. They’re sloppy looking and not tacked down.
In his defense, the only thing I can come up with is the fact that he’s OVER 6 foot tall and doesn’t even see what I see at only 5 foot tall! Lol
@catthegreat @Lynnerizer I think this is the page you are looking for. Most of the instructions are about planning the installation. The remote instructions are on the next page. It says if it’s set to a timed mode then it will auto turn off whether it was turnedon with the remoteor the sensor.
@catthegreat @Lynnerizer I had the same issue with my eyes being well above the cabinet bottoms and my wife and daughter being below it. Some extra 3M command strips helped, but there is always an extra connector at the end of the line.
I kept my extra noodle strips as I have the parts to build extra power supplies and controllers, but I haven’t come up with a good use case yet.
@catthegreat @fibrs86
Ah Yes, that’s exactly what I needed. THANKS!
Also, I was thinking the same thing, a little tape (and some rerouting of the lights themselves) would have them up and out of my eyes sight and looking MUCH MORE attractive.
On another note… Never using this kind of lighting before I was a little surprised how thick they are. My sleep number bed came with lights all around the underneath edge but I never got down there and checked them out. Thinking they’ve got to be pretty much the same thing.
@catthegreat @fibrs86 @Lynnerizer TIL Sleep Number beds have mood lighting!
/8ball
Yes
I want to open all the packages.
@hotbiscuit Please don’t get a job with FedEx.
@hotbiscuit @werehatrack or with Bombsquad.
@hotbiscuit @OnionSoup @werehatrack Oh no!!
Yes.
I have a few. Some are from multiple packs that I will get around to. Example: Cheap knives that are lasting way longer than I thought they would.
@yakkoTDI That’s a good thing, right?
@yakkoTDI
You just reminded me of the TWO sets of unopened knives I’ve got. It can be like Christmas EVERY DAY around here! Thanks!
You have to be more specific in your question. Like those my wife knows about and those she doesn’t. Those hidden in the garage or in the hall closet in plain view.
(Which room do you mean?)
Maybe, one or two, here or there. Don’t judge me.
@phendrick We would never judge you! On your package opening.
Everything else is open season.
Pretty much everything I order from Meh stays unopened indefinitely, including the food items with limited expiration dates. I like to wait to open those until they are good and well past their expiration dates, so that I can not only be dismayed at seeing what I was dumb (drunk) enough to order some midnight weeks (months) ago, but then relive the glory days of Meh by trying to eat those wretched individually wrapped bits of heartache…
@shahnm I see you bought the ginger chews…
@brainmist Maybe. I’d have to open a box to find out…
I have an inexplicable inability to not buy battery banks. So yeah, I have a few.
When I get around to using the first 30 or so (and not recharging them), I may start opening a few that are sitting properly stacked next to my desk, taunting me.
Please don’t tell my wife.
@capnjb We know nothing, we admit nothing, do you want a few more power banks?
@werehatrack Yes and no. Mostly no, but also very yes. Being married for almost 25 years complicates things. So…
@capnjb I lost power for 4 days during the 2020 derecho, and you, good sir/madam/other would have been a hero.
@brainmist I live where hurricanes are a real probability. I have two generators. One is 4.5kW, the other is 6.5kW. And I have enough usable-as-power-banks battery jumper packs to start at least half of the local school bus fleet on a bad day.
@werehatrack That’s awesome.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
@brainmist @werehatrack Yeah, losing power isn’t fun. We had an extended outage about ten years ago and I decided I didn’t want to go through that again. I’ve got three somewhat beefy Ecoflow generators and enough panels to generate about 1000W of solar (theoretically). A little piece of mind.
Somewhere, I have the ice-cleats. For walking on ice.
We are in the season of snow and ice (mostly snow, but it’s going to melt and refreeze as ice).
And I cannot find the cleats.
@brainmist Don’t you just LOVE when you walk past something you never need on a daily basis, and then when you finally NEED that thing, it is suddenly and inexplicably nowhere to be seen??
@brainmist @PooltoyWolf That goes double when you have been stumbling over the suddenly-needed item for weeks, and then it isn’t where it had been, and nobody has any clue what you’re talking about.
@brainmist @PooltoyWolf
Story of my life …
Now in fairness I did open the box that Meh shipped them in but I am yet to install my outdoor smart lights. I also have a ton of LED strips but I’m just handing those out as gifts at this point. Over the Christmas holiday the Salvation Army took ownership of my IRK leftovers. Ermmm do the (as of yet) uneaten boxes of ramen count? It’ll be a while before I get through all those boxes.
