My parents, retired in Florida since 1998, refuse to come “north” to me. I live in Virginia. These Cleveland-born-and-raised mfers won’t come “north” to here. smh
the most I might have to travel is the 45 min to my GF’s parents house…
I was just visiting a friend in Columbus, OH yesterday, his mom invited Him, his Hubby, and his 2 siblings up to Anchorage, AK this year…(she and Her GF usually come back down and stay with either him, or his Sister in Cleveland)
My elderly parents, who no longer drive, would like to visit my brother in San Francisco. They live about an hour and a half from the Austin airport. I live 3 hours from them in Houston. I will be driving 3 hours to get them and immediately will drive to Austin. We will all be flying to San Francisco. Three days later I will do everything in reverse.
Just to ferry people back-and-forth to the airport (which is a ~2hr drive round trip). Maybe I can stick whichever kid gets in first/leaves last with chauffeuring the rest.
The holidays always seem to show up wherever I happen to be. Do some people live where holidays bypass them - so they have to go somewhere else to catch them?
Not this year.
Since I sleep in the bedroom, cook in the kitchen, eat and watch TV in the living room, and pee in the bathroom, yeah, I have to travel, but not far.
I’m going all over this month, but not for the holidays. Busy season at work.

I’m encouraging my family to do, so I don’t have to.
Well, just across town.

Only if there is a TARDIS.
