Slept on the couch a few nights last year because we only had AC in the livingroom (for the dogs). I miss sleeping on the couch when I lived alone. It’s a whole thing, and usually not worth it with roommates, though.
@kostia I was crashing at friend’s house and her roommate did the same thing. It was a sectional and at some point we touched feet and both got a hell of scare.
After working outside all morning in Florida’s summer, siesta time rolls in after lunch. But I’m not crawling into bed all nasty. Throw a blanket over the couch and catch all those zzzs and get back to work in the heat again! (Beats working outdoors in the cold. Cold sweat and dry throats are the worst)
Apt is too small for a couch. Would like to lie down on the couch I no longer have on occasion though while watching TV. Instead stuck sitting in a chair.
All the time. I have an old lady bladder and have to head to the bathroom a couple of times a night.
When I come back to bed, either he’s snoring or there’s an old cat in my spot that I don’t want to disturb.
And the occasional reflux (bad since my gall bladder was taken out). Angle sleeping is doable on the sofa, not on the bed.
Also, my left hip is going rogue and it has a tendency to hurt (as well as the leg) and I can’t get comfortable in bed, but for some reason, it doesn’t bother me as much on the sofa.
@lisaviolet
My reflux is way better since my gull bladder was taken out. But I have shoulder and neck nerve pain and sometime I can’t lay flat in bed and the angle of the couch (kinda sitting up) helps.
@Star2236 I wish. I quit getting the attacks (my last one was so bad I was in the hospital for three days - that’s when the gb was removed), but the stuff the gb was filtering just started dumping in my stomach.
@lisaviolet
That sucks, sounds like you need an upper scope done. That’s what they suggested for me when it got bad a little bit ago. I decided to wait and try changing my diet first. Your diet could play a big part in it too.
@Chakolate Same. The couch is the spot for the afternoon nap (to compensate for not sleeping through the previous night). No TV for me though - usually music softly playing. And the faithful pooch snoozing on the floor next to the couch.
I sometimes fall asleep on the couch but I always get up and go to bed. There’s times when my neck and shoulder pain get real bad and I can’t lay down so I’m constantly up walking around during the night and catch a couple hours on the couch in between (the angel help).
I come home between 2330 and midnight (some times much later) most of my work nights. My usual routine is to sit on the couch and either catch up on the texts I didn’t get while at the ER or look at the news feeds on my phone, or scour the meh forums… Lots of nights I wake up after a short ‘nap’, go brush my teeth and pee then head to bed… I get up around 0730 to go next door to check on Mom most days so getting a chance to grab a few ZZZs before I “go to bed” helps.
Only when I’m sick as a dog and the bed is too hot
I haven’t slept in my bed for over 3 years now. Life sucks in some ways.
What couch? We got rid of that ages ago.
How could you forget the reason of snoring? That has to be the first, or maybe a mad second, most popular reason.

My wife has polluted the house(corrupted what organization existed) and kicked me out of the conjugal bed. The sofa the remaining choice.
@rtjhnstn Other than buying a condo and moving out, I don’t have the resources for that now.
@rtjhnstn Makes me sad to hear that. I hope these comments are mostly in jest.
No, because I need two armrests to get up.
Yep. Since breaking my leg years ago I do it way more than I used too.
My roommate comes home from work and falls asleep on the couch every single day. It’s a sectional and there’s half of it I just don’t have access to!

I get up early on weekends to take the dogs out, and sometimes I go back to sleep on the couch after we come back in. I miss sleeping in on weekends…

Pretty much every day. We old folk can have trouble sleeping at night, so we make up for it every day. On the couch. While the TV is watching me.
You know, saying the tv is watching me used to be a joke. le sigh.

I often sleep on the couch or on the floor behind it, wedged up against the wall. I’m weird but to me it’s just more comfortable than a bed.
@brennyn
I had to go back and check the name of the poster on this one because I figured for sure it was @CharlieDoggo!
Not since college. Though there was a period of time in college when I had no bed, just a couch. Then I ALWAYS slept on the couch.
I have a bed, but I’ve slept in a recliner for years now…
i just sleep better…
