@Mehrocco_Mole There's a bunch of these parodies floating around . . . Hell, I ordered one too - but I'll probably sell it on eBay after it arrives. One more gadget is the last thing I need . . .
@Mehrocco_Mole We have one. My husband couldn't resist. We've played with ita few times but mostly it just sits. Although we did get a laugh out of an Amazon commercial making it turn on.
@Mehrocco_Mole It looks like more connections are being added to other software/hardware. If enough companies develop for this device, it could become a central point of home automation. This is what I saw when it was in development, so I hope that it goes that way. Otherwise it will just be an expensive joke.
I pre ordered the garmin forerunner 620 going off the beautiful full color screen shot adds. Now I'm afraid to pre order; its dull water color like display haunts me from my wrist.
I really like the idea of kick starter, but nine out of 10 items on there are totally mainstream items that do not require investor seed money. They're just companies that don't want to build anything until they have sufficient early sales.
I've gotten a couple of pretty cool things there… Letterpress beer coasters come to mine… But even with the stuff I like, I later found out that the manufacturer was just too lazy to go to work until he had enough cheddar in the bank
Like everything else in the business world, market forces corrupt the good idea
This question was perfectly timed of for me. I can’t remember the last time I preordered anything but today I get my Samsung Galaxy s6. … Oh wait did answering “Yes, and I am today” mean I it ordered today or I get it today? Well I just (pre)ordered 3 of these watches maybe that counts. On the other hand if ordering from Meh counts I should have chosen “Yes, routinely” but that answer also said “for things I want” with Meh it is more of an addiction. Meh! I am going back to bed.
I've preordered gadgets, but mostly off Kickstarter. The Wearhaus headphones, 2 Pebble watches, and the Kraftwerk fuel cell, to name a few. Also preordered game systems frequently before.
@Goshdarnit i'm trying to print a 3-D printer with my 3-D printer… Kind of like making instant coffee in the microwave… So if a black hole swallows up Denver Colorado, you'll know what happened
"Pre-order" isn't a word. It's just ordering. If I order toothpaste from Amazon, it ships after I order it. If I "pre-order" something, it still ships after I order it.
Ahh, you say, but pre-ordering is ordering before it actually exists. But how do I know that exact toothpaste existed at the precise moment I ordered it? I don't. Yet, on faith, i still ordered it
"Pre-ordering" is the stuff you do before you order something… Like, for a cup of coffee, sit down in front of the computer, check your bank account to make sure you have sufficient funds…
"Pre-existing condition" is my favorite example of the abuse of this suffix. There is no way something can exist before it exists. Pre-existing means the day before your mom and dad got that look in their eye and decided to jump each other's bones
Books yes. Gadgets no.

@Pavlov Good thing I have no teenage daughters.

Was the kickstarter Fuku considered a gadget pre-order?
@narfcake I think it was more of a garbage pre-order.
@JonT That is true. My crayons arrived melted and rendered the paper bag useless.

No, I don't get gadgets until they aren't as mainstream; that way it's more ironic, ironically.
Current pebble steel user and kickstarted the new pebble time (early bird)... and also an amazon echo person...

I used to. I have since been burned enough times in order to learn not to. Wait for the reviews - there's nothing to lose.

Not usually. I typically wait for reviews to come out first. Everyone loves them when they are new. After a few weeks the real reviews come out.
Yep. Preordered my 3D printer and have also pre-ordered a Navdy that keeps getting delayed!
@Goshdarnit i'm trying to print a 3-D printer with my 3-D printer… Kind of like making instant coffee in the microwave… So if a black hole swallows up Denver Colorado, you'll know what happened
This world really needs more Steven Wright, Calvin and Hobbes, and The Far Side.
@saodell The irony is not lost on me that the thing I use my 3D printer for the most is printing parts for my 3D printer.
@saodell I wonder if my Navdy is being delayed because it got lost...

Good to see that Siri is any more accurate even with 8.3
Five typos, only caught four of them
@saodell oops, 6
Most recently a Pebble Time Steel and the new Descent game on Kickstarter (That one is still open for 63 minutes: Go for it!)
Never have.
I pre-ordered a Time Machine.
@Fish_Kungfu : Not me I waited until Meh sold the referb time machines, bought one and used it to get back here!
