It looked cool until fewer than five minutes of research showed that a tiny fraction of the job would have even the potential to be anything like so adventurous as the movies. As someone of an age with Indy during his adventurous period, I can now confidently say that I’d rather have a little less excitement than that.
@jsfs A good friend of mine’s dad was a world renowned paleontologist. I wanted to be nothing like him. Smart AF but a real jerk and the family was a mess. Both he and his wife graduated from Hahvahd and just couldn’t relate to other people. I guess they really liked me and liked having me around (probably to be a good influence on their HS aged son who was already turning into an alcoholic like his father) but I couldn’t tell.
@kittykat9180 hmm, you have a point. I do professional fireworks, and a few other adventurey things, but I’m not really into the running from boulders or having people shoot at me kinds of stuff. I’ve done too much disaster relief to be truly unhappy with boring, but maybe there’s something to this desire for adventure.
