I got cash from my brother (will likely get deposited & go towards bills) and a giftcard from my sister. I worked both Christmas Eve and Day, and a customer who bought a bunch of scratch tickets gave me one; I won 3 dollars but haven’t cashed it in yet.
@msklzannie
Wow, congrats on your big win! $3 might not seem like much but my husband tells me ALL the time how he can take his winings and turn them into ‘thousands’ with his keno playing skills! (said with a smirk on my face) …and yeah, after 30 years, i’m STILL waitin to see that BIG win!!
@Lynnerizer I think this is the 2nd time ever I’ve won anything on a ticket that was given to me. (The other time was $1.) I never buy lotto or lottery tickets. I have plenty of other things I waste my money on; age-restricted products aren’t any of them.
We usually have mini stockings up at work and there is traditionally a particular customer who puts $1 tickets in them, but this year we couldn’t decorate because the 2 containers that the Christmas decorations were stored in disappeared. They were either tossed or stolen (or possibly the contents tossed and the containers stolen). The containers were Christmas-design thirty-one brand “boxes” with clear lids so it would have been obvious what was in them. Nobody seems to know anything about the disappearance.
Heart warming stories here. Especially the one of being treated like shit by giving cash. Nothing say FU like giving the one you hate cash!
I’m investing my Christmas cash in the stock market. With a deal from China and the lifting of some tariffs, I’m looking at Big Lots and Dollar Tree stock. If the economy softens a little, more people will turn to the Dollar_______ type stores for their Chinese made lifestyles.
So, there you go; if you want to get a tattoo or, like me, invest in companies that provide the frivolous trivialities of our American disposable society, RHCP says it like this, Dark Necessities are part of my design.
Happy F’n New Year. (Decade)
I have several relatives who still send cash for every holiday, despite me coming up on 40. I bought a splitting maul for the woodshed, we went out for a meal, and put the rest in the kitty. Literally - I’m pleased to report that the senior barncat is FIV-negative.
I haven’t exchanged gifts with anyone in six years, and before then, it was only because of an expectation from my in-laws.
I don’t love the idea of prescribed gift-giving, and most of my family and close friends are at points in their lives where they can buy themselves the stuff they want, so we spend time with each other and maybe do a white elephant thing with a $20 limit.
Sort of, Amazon gift cards. No purchase plans yet.
Holiday cash never exceeds holiday debt , so… yeah.
I didn’t, but I bet Bezos did.
Yes and will pay for the Samsung laptop we got on Black Friday.
Do giftcards count as holiday cash?
No Meh! You’re not getting my money.
Money always fits perfectly and returns are unneeded.
Hold on a second here. Are you saying we can GET cash for Christmas? Where? How? I want in!!
/giphy gimme the cash
I got gift cards to buy supplies for transferring some of my herd of cacti to news pots.
@yakkoTDI Herd assumes that you could herd them somewhere. You could try to herd them, but they’d just sit there and someone would get hurt.
@yakkoTDI Fun, practical, and not cluttering. I like it!

Cash from my mother who treats me like shit, so getting another tattoo with the $. Probably of my guitar.
@Clumber What a fucking bitch. Who the fuck does she think she is, giving you cash? pfft
@therealjrn A gift card to the tattoo parlor would have been much more appropriate.
/giphy yes idk

Speaker dock.
If I photograph the cash, can I remote-deposit it in the bank so then I can use it?

@dannybeans that’s good news.

@somf69 Yep. I got them every year, so I get them every year for my daughter and the grands now.
@somf69 @therealjrn I still get them!
I got cash, but I don’t know what I am going to buy with it yet.
