I had fun with all the action in the forums, I also found 3 things to buy. But I did find the overall selection of items to be meh. Would of liked to have seen a few more “OMG type items”. As usual, I was sent home Fuko-less.
@mfladd yeah. I need much better speed than the local internet providers give if I ever want a chance at a fuko. Just sewage icing on the disappointment cake.
@mfladd@mfladd I only bought about three items myself, not counting the Fuko. In fact, I think the Fuko was the only I bought that was for me. I bought my baby sister a diaper bag because she became a Granny ( just messing with her calling her that she says she’s going to be called Glamma, like glamorous grandma) for the first time in August and she’ll need her own bag for when the baby visits. I got a hover board for a Christmas present and a set of the two way radios for when my twin grandsons come to visit. Theory are a great way of keeping track of the little rascals. I also got those keyholders that I hope my husband will us for his work keys hut who knows. So nothing really exciting but some useful stuff…the hover board will be exciting to give! Not sure why I’m regaling ypou with my boring orders but its late and I’m awake while everyone else is asleep.
@simplersimon I don’t think it’s a matter of connection speed. I was in a cabin by a lake in Montana with about 1.2 Mbps and I got one on my iPad during VMP hour. I think it’s just the luck of getting in there in those first few seconds at a tiny slice of time when the server is able to process your click.
Meh-rathon is a step shy of a swear word in this house. It is awful. It is pure and utter disappointment. And I checked in like crazy. I couldn’t stay away.
I bought one thing that I kinda regret and I haven’t even received it yet to test it out. Bought the powerbank with headset, kind of out of obligation because of hurricanes, even though I have several already.
Well I did have to sleep, drive to work, drive home from work, and more sleep, so while I didn’t follow the entire Meh-rathon, I did catch a lot of it. And it was very Meh!
Fortuitous timing allowed me to run the Meh-ration far more than I should have. Unfortunately, I had to do some real-life stuff, so I couldn’t execute a perfect meh-day. The Meh-liad was great, especially once I could read it in its final form (though reading it fragmented was kind of interesting, but mostly for the wtf factor). I thought the mix of crap/ meh / interesting stuff was OK, and bought a number of items just because I wanted to encourage bad behavior on meh’s part. Only downside was that I got no Fuko. Meh on that.
@mehcuda67 In about 200 years of combined membership at Woot and Meh, the only Bag of Fuku I ever got was the Fukuburo they send me for kickstarting. And it was a pretty good one. I don’t bother trying for them anymore, my connection’s just too slow.
I wouldn’t give up on trying for them, @moondrake, I have one of slowest connection speeds offered and I’ve managed to get a few. I think it’s the thrill of the chase that I like probably more than getting a fuko. But I like the anticipation of one coming, too.
If you like chasing after things which may or may not not be bad (yay double negatives!) how about you chase after me on foot while I’m riding a purple camel and you try giving me $5?
I got $2 poo! The Mehrathon was a win for that alone.
I also ordered the induction hotplate. For the price I figured it would be a worthwhile experiment. My wife does a lot of deep frying of eggrolls and most modern “safe” deep fryers and electric skillets do not get hot enough.
I tried the fukos but to no avail. I think I just hesitated too much. Spending $15 on what may amount to useless junk made me pause.
I rather enjoyed it. Wondering if something might come up that I actually liked or wanted. I saw one thing I would have gotten but got to it 28 seconds after it ended. It’s the first Mehrathon I’ve caught. Then I got busy with housework and forgot for a several hours.
It was like 6 months of disappointment crammed into 24 hours.

Me trying to get a fuko.

@mfladd
We’re sorry, we’re sorry, we’re sorry you didn’t get a fuko.
We’re sorry.
I do understand it can seriously sting for a while tho.

@mfladd
I offered…
@mflassy You did, and that was very kind.
@mfladd
@mehbee I enjoy your stories, and a hover board for a present is Excellent!

@SSteve
for that (but congrats).
@mfladd I think condolences are more in order than congratulations, but thanks for Tina Fey. She’s my fave!

So many repeats. Wasn’t worth the lack of sleep.

I looked once in awhile, didn’t buy anything. Came back later to read the Meh-liad though.
It was like the good old days,looking forward to the next one!
Some of us work and sleep.

@mflassy Um, no, it doesn’t sound like much fun.
@Barney
(Disclaimer: No purple was hurt in the searching of this picture.)
@mflassy I’m just impressed you were able to find that in an image search.
I peeked in off and on, bought a Google Home I don’t need. The box is sitting on my dining table for my friends to exclaim over.
Does clicking 46/60 of the meh buttons count as being there for the whole thing?

I followed the mehrathon and bought several things. Can’t wait for the next one.
