Maybe, with these sorts of classics, the relevance comes round anew each time we seem engulfed by a new blindness, or a possible measurable loss of decency within our fragile human order.
I kinda hope our best musics, even the darker ones, always retain a potential relevance.
I don’t know that our wayward species will ever be fully “safe”.
That would imply a combo of productivity, empathy/humanity, honor/integrity, widely adopted “best and most humane personal/business/social/$/legal practices”, and, also, freedom from delusions.
I’ve surely never personally achieved that, or gotten to near hailing distance. not even once.
I don’t think our species is likely to be getting at all close to that perfect mix anytime soon.
I’ll take the music when I can’t grab aught else. It helps sometimes.
I remember. Sorta.
: )
Love this song.
I’m old. Really and truly old. It’s a sad business when a piece of music from so very long ago is still relevant.
