Did the warehouse run out of boxes?
1My space heater crapped out last week so I ordered this one off MorningSave and it showed up just a few minutes ago.
Looking like this
I guess the warehouse ran out of boxes. Fortunately it only traveled 20 miles and it doesn’t appear to have been opened or damaged. I feel for anyone that orders something shipped like this that has to travel cross country.

Actually I read the other day that due to the uptick in online ordering that there is a shortage of cardboard boxes - manufacturing can’t keep up apparently.
No, you just are not worth the effort.
I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. A lot of products are packaged in a way that they would easily survive shipping without any breaking. Sometimes all it takes is a piece of tape to make a tamper proof seal.
@Willijs3 I save some of my original boxes (and inside packaging) for when I move. Makes it easy to make sure the, for example, microwave is well packed and won’t break
@Willijs3 I think this happens less often because shipping it in the original box makes it clear what’s being sent, making it a more inviting target for porch pirates or unscrupulous shipping workers.
@lljk That’s a good point. I keep forgetting that people are assholes and thieves.
I’m ok with not adding more waste…Im ok with more things shopping like that.
@Grumman
yeah, while not the norm, it is not as rare an event as all that with some of the other suppliers I have used in the past.
@Grumman yea… It’s already in a box does it really need another box around the box?
I had a motherboard shipped from Amazon like that. No seal at all, the box just flips open. Amazingly it arrived intact.
Amazon often flags things that will be shipped in their original box unless you check a box to package it again. If it’s already in a good box, other than secrecy (from porch pirates or for gift purposes) what’s the use?
But yes, if it’s not sealed, it can be concerning.
I heard a guy that was doing seasonal work as a UPS helper tell a story. As he ran a package up to a house, the lady came to the door. She asked, “What’s in it?”
He answered “I don’t know, lady, it’s Christmas so we don’t have time to open them all.”
He said she wasn’t amused.
Sadly, the weighted blanket from Meh arrived today. That particular product box has a triangular opening, for people to feel the material in-store. Well. Meh was like, eh, to hell with it. Slapped the shipping label on the box, anyways.
So, said blanket, has had the opening… from shipper to destination… in a pandemic. Way to go, Meh. No telling what all has been absorbed via said opening on the box. Some things live longer than others on different surfaces. Needless to say, I will not be opening that one for some time, to give any remaining nasties, time to die off.
In most cases, I’m cool with slapping the shipping label on the outer box and wishing it good luck. But, in the case of openings that reach the actual product, in a pandemic… not so much. Not cool, Meh.
Regular Box
@forg0ttenclone if you haven’t already, please write in to meh.com/support. You can ask for Thumperchick and I’ll look into this for you.
@Thumperchick Thank you, Thumperchick. I haven’t written into support. I’ll certainly do so. If for no other reason, to prevent things like that from happening in the future. While the photo I linked above was a generic photo. I can certainly provide photos of how my box was received, before bringing it inside.
