@medz Nah, no purchase necessary to participate in this event. They had a live product demo and I was absolutely blown away though. It was too much to handle.
@whiteguy You're overselling the "nice" angle. Bring it down to a mediocre level. The lights and A/C were off, and we weren't offered beer or food! But I did win a game of Soccer Physics, so that was pretty sweet.
I mean, I know it was an older generation, but I still can't believe ya'll gave all of us who showed up a free MacBook Pro! That blew me away! (And yes, I got to touch the baby hand.)
@JonT Top photo, and what exactly is sticking out of the guy on the far left's ear? Also I think you gave away the super secret present as three have a yellow box in their hands, the 4th has sunglasses
@Lurcher99 I lived in TX for a bit, trust me, heat beats the pants off of ice, snow, and grey skies for 4-6 months at a time! (Upstate NY) But we're staying.
Yeah, I know the feeling. I've been to some gatherings that seemed like they'd be fun but then ended up with a lot of standing around awkwardly and trying to think up an excuse to leave. It was like that, wasn't it?
@SSteve Not for the most part, the baby arm really livened things up. Plus it would have been weird for me to just leave considering I still had to work.
@harrison Conversation? Wow, that's a good idea. That probably would have helped in those awkward situations. I'll try to keep that in mind for next time.
OMG I could get there very easily from a place that I spend time at frequently but definitely don't work at. >.> <.< >.> Would you throw me out if I stopped by some other day? Even if I brought cookies? (How many of you are there, btw) <3
@Vertigo1232 I think it's in the same vein but better than Panda Express. They give you a ton of a food too and there's a free crappy salad bar for some reason if you eat there. The sesame chicken is good, I also like the lo mein and bourbon chicken. Give it a shot.
@Vertigo1232 What @JonT says...lots of food and the Salad isn't terrible either. Giant bowl of fortune cookies as well, usually get 2 of them and choose which fortune I want to rely on for the week.
I somehow managed to show up, and it was pretty neat. Nice guys, nice space, and the demo was nice.
@whiteguy So did you buy one? (or two)
@medz Nah, no purchase necessary to participate in this event.
And for the Mediocre crew: OKAY OKAY I'LL STOP LURKING DAMNIT
@whiteguy Aww yisss
@JonT Don't forget about those broken things for an engineering student
Indeed, 9 people showed up that meant to be there and one guy that didn't and was lost that probably thought he walked in on a cult meeting.
@JonT I didn't make it in time; but what did he think of the baby hand?
@whiteguy He was thoroughly freaked out because we made him shake the baby arm hand.
Wait, you mean that WASN'T a cult meeting??? @JonT
Holy zhit! I bet it was fun.
H onestly, it was better than i expected.
E veryone was really nice.
L ocation was nice, liked the office.
P eople were very friendly.
U nderstandably, it was a bit awkward.
S urprisngly, they didn't even enslave us.
@Vertigo1232 Sadly, there's photographic evidence of the awkwardness. But we were allowed to leave before the Roomba army was unleashed upon us.
@bluedyn So post the photos already… we wait with baited meh breath.
Wait, Mediocre is real?
It was kind of neato. I got a super secret shiny gift from Meh too. Can't say what it is. And @harrison gave me a sandwich.
@janetv shiny? I assume it was a roomba knife to the ankle
@chellemonkey No they let us leave before they attacked all the employees we talked to with Roomba armies. It was something else....!
I mean, I know it was an older generation, but I still can't believe ya'll gave all of us who showed up a free MacBook Pro! That blew me away! (And yes, I got to touch the baby hand.)
@Serk i mean, like hell you're getting my 15" retina
@harrison So @Serk was just going through the office and taking people's MacBook Pros, wasn't he?
This makes me want to move to the Dallas area... Wait, no, that came out wrong.
The first six suckers to show up (Baby Arm) is in there too
@ChadP harassing @MEHcus with the Baby Arm
Standing around awkwardly
Something funny and awesome happened
Soccer Physics begins
And continues
@JonT Top photo, and what exactly is sticking out of the guy on the far left's ear? Also I think you gave away the super secret present as three have a yellow box in their hands, the 4th has sunglasses
@Kidsandliz Captions. We need captions.
@Kidsandliz They stabbed me in the head for asking too many questions. :( Really, I have no idea what the hell that is. I guess something on the wall.
@Vertigo1232 Or something held by the guy behind you. Look how it appears that a part of an arm is by your neck.
@Kidsandliz Very possibly. I was more concerned with avoiding the baby arm.
I'm the one they call Jane.
@Kidsandliz I'm the guy behind/next to pencil in the head guy and whatever is in his head is not of my doing.
@Serk Are you sure you didn't stab me? It looks like you stabbed me. :(
@janetv But... which one are you?
@Cinoclav i'm the corporate-looking one with the terrible shoe choice. i didnt expect to be anywhere besides behind a desk today!
Also my Twitter handle is the same as my Meh forum name.
@janetv Ha! Always keep your heels in the car! Well, thank goodness for you ladies. You two really upped the looks factor.
I'm sort of bummed that you guys are a ~25 hour drive from me.
@Thumperchick - I'm bummed too. It would take me 2 1/2 days to drive there
me three
I'm with you guys. I am maybe 5 min away and still couldn't make it
@Thumperchick Yea, but all of us local people have to pay tax on this crap (and it's 101 F), so stay where you are...
@Lurcher99 I lived in TX for a bit, trust me, heat beats the pants off of ice, snow, and grey skies for 4-6 months at a time! (Upstate NY)
But we're staying.
What those pictures don't show you, is that inflatable T-rex had a brother, that got out of line. It's deflated dead behind the desk. RIP. :(
@Vertigo1232 sister.
@katylava we no longer speak of her.
@SSteve After introductions we had a little bit of "well, what now," but it was great once we got some conversation going.
@harrison @SSteve yeah it was a lot of "why the heck aren't you in the forums?" speak
@harrison Conversation? Wow, that's a good idea. That probably would have helped in those awkward situations. I'll try to keep that in mind for next time.
@janetv OKAY I'M IN THE FORUMS NOW
I never thought I'd ever find myself saying this but this makes me sad I don't live in Texas.
@Janettv @whiteguy I am picking up on your subtle messages..."neato"... "neat"...you got vacuums, didn't you?!
@JimCil not even that. we got dustpans and broomsticks. we were told to clean up after ourselves.
Oh if I didn't live half way across the country... Looked like fun.
OMG I could get there very easily from a place that I spend time at frequently but definitely don't work at. >.> <.< >.> Would you throw me out if I stopped by some other day? Even if I brought cookies? (How many of you are there, btw) <3
@arualflower there were at least 75 people we met so you need to make a LOT of cookies.
The guys at Ducky Bob's like brownies, so you better bring a pan of those, too.
@arualflower what kind of cookies are we talking about?
@hollboll hopefully chocolate-chip :)
@girlgonemild agreed
@hollboll dunno, will have to just stop by with some goods some day :)
@arualflower
@hollboll I love this enthusiastic face. Can't wait to watch it in person (Probably not the same guy tho. Bummer)
I was planning to go then ended up eating at Wei Tasty Asian instead. The Sesame Chicken lunch special is a good deal at $5.99!
@tightwad hell yes it is! You made the right choice. No need to come by our offices, just hang out there and you'll see us
@tightwad Is that place any good? I always see it, and am curious, but then I go to Bueno.
@Vertigo1232 I think it's in the same vein but better than Panda Express. They give you a ton of a food too and there's a free crappy salad bar for some reason if you eat there. The sesame chicken is good, I also like the lo mein and bourbon chicken. Give it a shot.
@Vertigo1232 Hard to beat that Bueno. I find it superior to other locations. Not sure why.
@pwinn The salsa there is pretty good. That helps. Their salsa seems to be different at different locations.
@Vertigo1232 What @JonT says...lots of food and the Salad isn't terrible either. Giant bowl of fortune cookies as well, usually get 2 of them and choose which fortune I want to rely on for the week.
@tightwad
@tightwad ok ok. I'm convinced. I'll check it out tomorrow.
@editorkid It's just a little airborne, it's still good! It's still good!
Open up a Florida branch. I'd be all over it. I can even supply the baby arm. Don't ask.
Should have streamed it. Morbid curiosity would compel me to watch.
@w_a_w there is actually video footage somewhere on someone's phone. It was one of the first things we did with the Zhip.
