9 months since we rode (road?) out a Category 5 hurricane and we’re all still stressed out at the least little thing. My kid is homeless, and though I have a small bedroom available, he is now living with, (and this is totally crazy) he’s living with his step-mother in law.
I think I deserve this chair. Just need to convince hubby.
3 trips to the hospital for different things in 6 months and I’m only 38. Heel fracture from January left me with constant cramps 6 months after surgery. Doctor said the numbness may be permanent if it doesn’t go away in 1-2 years. On top of that my arm is constantly going numb when I sleep.
On top of that, work sucks. I get no support whatsoever to do something else and I hear “at least you have a job” from my overprotective mother. There are way too many toxic people in my life.
@JT954 sorry to hear, but i hope you don’t live in the basement of your mom’s home. that would be the real disappointment and pain compared to a crappy job. so don’t worry, be happy.
@JT954 26 years since I fractured my heel - I still have numb spots on my foot (I think they cut some nerves during surgery). The (semi-)good news is, you get used to it.
I’m out of country at a conference and giving a major presentation in 3 hours. But I’m super ready and my stress is next to nothing, which is odd. I finished my presentation prep last Thursday before I left, so that helped a lot.
@Fuzzalini Thanks! It went very well. I got a bit stressed out right before because a couple of my old professors were in the audience and I was worried that they wouldn’t be very impressed. But they were, especially the one I was most wanting to kind of show off to.
@lseeber - Thank you, but all’s swell - I have a kind of “what happens, happens” attitude for most things, which with a hefty dash of “let’s see what happens with a little push” tends to keep the stress level lower than it might be. I guess I’m really a cat person at heart…
@aetris Good deal then! As the eldest in my fam, I usually have the joy of planning a lot of things and then having everyone bitch about how they wanted blah blah or didn’t want blah blah. Finally, last time I told them, I’m out. Do it yourself. Or don’t.
Congrats!
@aetris@tinamarie1974 For the most part. There are just a couple of us that always do the most. We are a big family… 52 at Christmas and special events… so… 3 or 4 of us still can be a lot of work.
1 for the first time in my life. After a small stroke six weeks ago (no permanent damage besides some hearing loss, which I can live with), my wife has been campaigning for me to quit my job and focus on taking care of our property (15 acres of woods and fields with 2 houses and 7 outbuildings). I’ve been hesitant because she’s basically describing what I wanted my retirement to be, and 37 is awfully young for that, but it’s looking more and more like I’m gonna cave.
In the meantime, I’m not cleared to go back to work yet, but pretty mobile if I don’t push myself too hard, so I’m spending more time in the shop, and doing a lot more cooking - my two favorite things to do. And my nephews are coming for a visit next week, so today I get to build some model rockets for us to fly.
I’m usually completely stressed out, but today is only a four. It’s kinda refreshing to not have the blood pressure of a frightened hummingbird on amphetamines.
Been an pretty rough week, too, but I think I’ve had my fortnightly freakout and get to look forward to a good weekend.
Maybe 6.5? Posted a rant on Facebook (where I normally only post about pets, plants or places) in early June. Since then hubs is still having (some different) health issues, still need to empty kitchen so we can redo it after 34 years AND
My IRK hit ATL on the 12th and hasn’t been heard from since!
Really Meh & USPS really?
@AnniKat If it helps, USPS tracking often looks like nothing happens, and then all of a sudden it shows up at the door, and then all the tracking info shows up. They’ve definitely got a problem with tracking.
@Fuzzalini@therealjrn That new tracking site also stops tracking on the 12th! Contacted Customer service and they said it has to be 3 weeks, contact again on Thurs or Friday, which I will do (nothing has changed) Really just wanted MEH to ask UPS/USPS about emergency tracing. In the past, if this happened to any kind of order, transporters (ie UPS or USPS) always have said that only sender can start a Trace. Will contact customer service again tomorrow or the next day.
I KNEW 2 BOCs and an IRK in 2 weeks would hit a snag somewhere
I’m at about a 3, but only because I’m stuck at the airport waiting for my flight home, which so far is delayed by four hours. When I get home, I’ll be at a 2.
I am going for a one today. Working from home in my jammies is always a good thing! Only mildly irritated with the construction work outside my front door.
I say 5. I would always say “it could be worse” but then it would actually get worse. So I stopped saying that and just never gave my stress a 10 out of 10. Let’s see. I have been fighting cancer for 13 years. I had a nasty surgeon talk me into “strengthening” my hips (because the cancer weakens my bones) and pushed me into double hip surgery which I found out later I didn’t need and he shouldn’t have done both sides at once and botched both sides because he talked the senior surgeon into letting him do it. Still can’t go up the stairs after that one. Started up a jewelry design business. However after one show we had Christmas. Before we got the decorations down, our master bedroom and bath flooded and needed to be gutted and the entire thing redone. We managed to hire the worst company in town (close to it at least) and after 6 months they are still not finished. My husband decided to do some pruning and fell off his ladder. We found out he now has to have shoulder surgery. The cancer ruined my back and my left hand quit working because they say I wore out all the cartilage in my thumb joints. So we don’t really get how we are going to manage it. I can’t drive because of pain meds I am on. Any suggestions? Should I have rated myself a 6 instead of a wimpy 5? We are alive anyway and the Lord is always there somewhere! So I will leave it at 5.
@ripper69 you always feel like your story is the worst until you read/hear someone else’s and realize there’s always someone else worse off than you and they still deal with better than you. Good luck with everything.
How about more like 100% lol
@Stallion Wouldn’t that just be 5 on the scale?
What the fuck is this, torture the goat day?
@cinoclav Yup. Once in the night and outen the light. Once in the morning, a new day a-borning.
@cinoclav yes! So what is your plan to reduce our stress?
@tinamarie1974
@cinoclav haha! I remember those! They were awesome until I they stopped working
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
@cinoclav I thought this was torture the goat month.
@macromeh Blame month/Torture day
@tinamarie1974
i.e. Wore them out.
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
@cinoclav
But, since you are the GoaT, I think it must be your fault!
Ack!!! POLLS STRESS ME OUT!!1!
@therealjrn Too many choices = too many decisions = way too much stress.

Well, I have a job I like, a nice hone, a car that runs, a loyal dog, and a wife. I need a six.
@hchavers
@hchavers Still got all your fingers with those sharp knives around? There’s your six!
I’m out of country at a conference and giving a major presentation in 3 hours. But I’m super ready and my stress is next to nothing, which is odd. I finished my presentation prep last Thursday before I left, so that helped a lot.
@luvche21 I hope it went well.

The night is nearly over and I’m fixing to start my days off…
Much less stress than earlier.
Let’s just say I’ll be feeling a lot less stress when I have a date for pizza…
@aetris I thought of that and you. Having the feel goods to do something like this is nice. Actually implementing it is another ball game! I know!
@lseeber - Thank you, but all’s swell - I have a kind of “what happens, happens” attitude for most things, which with a hefty dash of “let’s see what happens with a little push” tends to keep the stress level lower than it might be. I guess I’m really a cat person at heart…
… And I got the date, so less stress!
@aetris Good deal then! As the eldest in my fam, I usually have the joy of planning a lot of things and then having everyone bitch about how they wanted blah blah or didn’t want blah blah. Finally, last time I told them, I’m out. Do it yourself. Or don’t.
Congrats!
@aetris @lseeber and let me guess, no one did anything? That is how it works i my family anyway
@lseeber @tinamarie1974 - Yes, I too am an oldest child. Interesting how this stuff works!?!
@aetris @tinamarie1974 For the most part. There are just a couple of us that always do the most. We are a big family… 52 at Christmas and special events… so… 3 or 4 of us still can be a lot of work.
@aetris @tinamarie1974 Ain’t it tho?!
No stress. Never had it, never will. Life is too short.
@olperfesser Nice trick if you can pull it off.

@dannybeans Wow. Glad the hearing loss was the worst of it. Keep on top of your health, you’re definitely too young to be stressing over these issues.
Pretty much a 5 right now.
@Barney Om mani padme hum…
/youtube papa ou mau mau
@2many2no Gee, I feel so much better now! Thanks.
I’m usually completely stressed out, but today is only a four. It’s kinda refreshing to not have the blood pressure of a frightened hummingbird on amphetamines.

@AnniKat @Fuzzalini That’s why I always track from the new logistics website. http://tracking.smartlabel.com/

I mean, I can do plenty of bitching in the comments but I usually save that for my therapist. Yall don’t get paid enough for this shit.
I’m at about a 3, but only because I’m stuck at the airport waiting for my flight home, which so far is delayed by four hours. When I get home, I’ll be at a 2.
I typically run a steady 4 to 5, but have been focused on being better. Lately it’s been 2-3. I feel good about that.
@ChadP
I am going for a one today. Working from home in my jammies is always a good thing! Only mildly irritated with the construction work outside my front door.
A solid 11
family business i see my mother and older brother every friggin day…

OK, compared to ripper69 I’m about a 4.2 I hope things get a little better (or a LOT better, actually) for you and your husband SOON.
