This is pitiful. A thousand people freezing their butts off waiting to worship a rat. What a hype. Groundhog Day used to mean something in this town. They used to pull the hog out, and they used to eat it. You’re hypocrites, all of you!
@unksol You want a prediction about the weather, you’re asking the wrong Phil. I’ll give you a winter prediction: It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be grey, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life.
The rodent can suck it. It got down to the teens below zero here overnight and more than double that in wind chills. My furnace barely finishes a cycle before it starts the next one. I’m turning into beef jerky. Our favorite mountain, the one with the “world’s worst weather,” recorded a new wind chill record, -109° yesterday. On the bright side, it’s going to be back in the 30s here by tomorrow, so at least this nightmare isn’t lingering like the usual polar vortex. Still, this “6 more weeks” bullshit is for the birds. (Or not. Those poor things better have built extra cozy nests this year!)
@ircon96 I saw that in the news!!! I’m glad you’re surviving it; it sounds hellacious, or whatever the frozen opposite would be.
It’s amazing how balmy 30s feel after negative temp numbers!
@Kyeh That sounds divine! Admittedly, i was totally unprepared for this craziness, esp considering the relatively mild winter we’ve had so far. I never used to be very susceptible to the cold, but these days, i might need BOTH.
@ircon96 I highly recommend it! I don’t even turn it on that often but I love having it for those nights when everything in the house gets cold to the touch.

@unksol
@yakkoTDI So are you Phil?
@Kyeh @yakkoTDI you have seen groundhog day the movie right? Lol we might confuse people who have not
@Kyeh @unksol Seen it multiple times. It is a great movie.
@unksol @yakkoTDI He’s seen it over and over and over and over …
@yakkoTDI lol I met had @Kyeh seen it. You never know.
You have obviously seen it. Hence the quote.
Then there could always be some weird 20 year olds who have not watched the classics
@unksol @yakkoTDI Okay, I’ll confess - I haven’t seen it. I haven’t seen most movies in quite a while.
@Kyeh @unksol It is one of the better Bill Murray movies. YouTube sometimes has it in their free to watch movie section.

@Kyeh So true! I’m finally starting to thaw out, it’s glorious not to have to sleep in layers.
@ircon96 I got a heated mattress pad a while back and it’s wonderful for those kinds of days, much better than an electric blanket.
