“Peter” is Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. Shuri is the younger sister of the current MCU Black Panther, T’Challa. They’re both younger than the main group of Avengers, and make pop culture references fitting their youth.
Vision is the robotic life form that Tony Stark and Bruce Banner created in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
“Yeet” is a term used to express excitement; especially used in basketball when someone has shot a three-pointer that they are sure will go in the hoop.
Basically, it’s pointing out that, as a being that was familiar with pop culture and the internet, Vision would understand the meaning of the jokes the characters make, but most likely would not understand the humor.
@Cythwulf@kaleb15002@therealjrn My son was explaining the meaning of dank to me and was totally unaware that it is an actual word in the dictionary. It referred to basements long before memes.
@Cythwulf@kaleb15002@sammydog01@therealjrn Many years ago I found a dollar bill at work upon which someone had drawn a joint coming out of George Washington’s mouth and the immortal words I SMOKE DANK WEED. The teenagers I worked with could not explain to me why dank weed was a good thing. Much later I decided it must be because it stinks as a measure of quality, but I’m still not sure. These were the same kids who once used sketchy to describe an area with a strong police presence. Words have a tendency to work themselves loose from their original meanings.
@kaleb15002@mossygreen@sammydog01@therealjrn Funny thing is, last time I cared to try and catch up on the lingo, “Dank Memes” weren’t good. “Dank Memes” are (were?) ones that had been over-shared or outdated.
@Limewater@miko1@revloki Ah, now my secret shame that I have never seen The Thing is revealed. I had only gotten mentally as far as “it’s not Cronenberg, but now I really want to see Naked Lunch again.” So thank you! I should watch The Thing!
@Cythwulf I’m gonna cry cause of that now
@Cythwulf @kaleb15002 I’m gonna cry cause I have no idea what that is.
@kaleb15002 @sammydog01

@Cythwulf @kaleb15002 Like when my son explains memes to me and they don’t seem funny? Got it.

@kaleb15002 @sammydog01 you should watch this with your kid:
/youtube teens react to slang with parents
@kaleb15002 @RiotDemon Wait, dabbing is no longer a thing? When did that happen?
@sammydog01 like every terrible slang word and meme, they eventually die out.
Usually when parents start doing it.
@RiotDemon My middle aged mom friend down the street used to tell her son he looked on fleek just to drive him bananas.
@sammydog01 haha.
You remember when “bling” was a thing? It’s hardly ever used now. Dab and yeet will go the same way.
@kaleb15002 @RiotDemon @sammydog01 now you need to learn to floss.

/giphy flossing dance
@kaleb15002 @sammydog01 @tnhillbillygal I heard that kid is trying to sue fortnite for using his dance moves.
@kaleb15002 @RiotDemon @tnhillbillygal I’m pretty sure you can’t own dance moves. Good luck, kid.
@kaleb15002 @sammydog01 @tnhillbillygal they’re also being sued for using the Carlton and some rapper’s dance moves.
I dunno. It’ll be interesting.

@Cythwulf @kaleb15002 @mossygreen @therealjrn From what I understand dank memes are so outdated and over-shared that they’re good because of that. Kids.
@Cythwulf @kaleb15002 @sammydog01 @therealjrn But dank weed is still the best, right? George Washington wouldn’t mislead me like that.
I’m the only one who can say YEET on this forum.
@SenorYEETZ I hear you.

@mike808 @SenorYEETZ WRONG only i can i made it
/giphy yeet!

I thought dabbing was some kind of smoking drugs…?
@miko1

/giphy it can be two things
@miko1 Oh man, I was expecting The Simpsons. This is… not that. I’m so sorry.
@miko1 @mossygreen I’m both terrified and amazed.
@miko1 @mossygreen @revloki The Thing is both terrifying and amazing. You should watch it if you like practical effects.
@Limewater @miko1 @revloki Ah, now my secret shame that I have never seen The Thing is revealed. I had only gotten mentally as far as “it’s not Cronenberg, but now I really want to see Naked Lunch again.” So thank you! I should watch The Thing!
@Limewater @miko1 @mossygreen My favorite monster.
