Cyber Monday Challenge: Best 10.1"+ Android tablet deal $250 or less
1My tablet died on Saturday, it just won't power up. I don't strictly need a tablet, but I sure do enjoy having one. It seems serendipitous that it decided to crap out Black Weekend, but annoying because I passed on a 10.1" Galaxy Tab with keyboard case at Sam's Club for $230 just last weekend. I dropped over $400 this holiday weekend rescuing a puppy I found starving on the street Wednesday, so I am feeling strapped for cash, a good deal to replace the tablet would be helpful right now. Suggestions welcomed. I use my tablets for games and media viewing, so it needs to accept micro SD cards and have some form of USB port.

I've got zip info to offer about any tablet deals. I'd love to see a picture of the puppy though. Did you keep him?
Unfortunately I couldn't keep him. I have a dog- aggressive 140lb Great Dane, who is fated to be an only dog his whole life. This little guy weighed only 40lbs, although he looks so much better in this photo after less than a week of care, I'd imagine he weighs maybe 45-50lbs. He was all ribs and spine when I picked him up, peeing blood, terrified. After seeing a vet (who gave him a 2 out of 10 for physical condition), getting some meds and being free-fed for 5 days he is the picture of a healthy adolescent pup. But all the shelters are full, I had to cut a deal with them to adopt a senior Pekinese for my Mom who's in assisted living to make room for him at the shelter. We'll see if adopting that dog was a good idea, I don't know if my mom, who has Alzheimers, is up to caring for a dog but she's been asking for one and this weekend was her 75th birthday so I just have to hope I can make it all work. Here's a picture of the pup, who's safe in a no-kill shelter at last.
@moondrake Good job.
@moondrake He's adorable! You're a terrific person for investing the time, money and energy into him, knowing all along you couldn't keep him. Hopefully he finds a new home soon.
@moondrake Thank you for rescuing him & finding him a no kill shelter. He is beautiful!
@sassymango @bluedog I always hope that if one of my pets was lost, sick and afraid, someone would step up and help them. I have to put my money where my heart is or what good am I?
@moondrake You make my heart happy. Thanks for being awesome and caring.
I am looking at this one. Comments? The one that died is an off-brand 13.3" tablet as well, so it seems like this would be similar. It has 5 stars on Amazon from scant reviewers.

This sounds like what you missed at Sam's Club, just much cheaper: http://computers.woot.com/offers/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-gsm-tablet-1
@editorkid LOL, I didn't even think to look at Woot. I take itthis is an older Galaxy Tab model, but still of decent quality? Galaxy tablets have a very good rep, although I undetstand the "Note" is much better than the "Tab". But I can't afford top end stuff at the moment. Amazon also has this, a little over my price point but not too bad. New and a GT4 instead of a GT2. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-10-1-Inch-16GB-White/dp/B00JKCH552/ref=pd_cp_pc_2
@moondrake I've got a couple of Galaxy Tabs and love them -- I don't watch much video, but they keep up nicely with action games like Carmageddon and Pinball Arcade, so video probably isn't much problem. Very strong build quality (better than the 1st gen Nexus 7), and you can turn off Samsung's little interface oddities and have a pretty straightforward Android interface. If you're looking at that Azpen, you might also consider the smaller but even cheaper http://www.yugster.com/todays-deals/anything-goes -- the screen's resolution is much lower, but it's not even $100. I order from Yugster a few times a year with no problems.
Refurb up right now on the woot off.
I hope you are compulsively checking this thread today because Woot has Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10" 16GB Tablets on the Woot off right now. For $250. They had them on a side deal last week and I bought two of them for my daughters for the same price. Get on it!
@Lister Great tip! I read all about it, put it in in my shopping cart, then saw the $27 in tax and shipping and balked. It doesn;t have a usb connection, which takes away part of the functionality I use with my current tablet, and the tax and shipping push it over my preferred cap. I will think on it in the next few minutes, though.
Tax and shipping? I have never paid any tax and shipping is a flat $5 on Woot, always. Just like here.
@Lister Some states collect tax from all Internet retailers, some don't.
@Lister I live in Texas. I always had to pay tax on Woot purchases, even before Amazon. Now I have to pay taxes on Amazon as well. Amazon buying Woot was a bad deal for me. I have managed to find a couple of other items in the Woot megaplex that interest me (Iron Man USB for my boss for Christmas, wifi enabled blu-ray for my art room) so I am probably going to pull the trigger. Keeping an eye on the tablet quantity. It's at 43% right now.
It got down to 23%, so decided I had better make up my mind and buy it. Thanks, guys, for all your suggestions. I looked at every one of them and weighed the less expensive off-brands against the more expensive refurbs and in the end went with the name brand. I hope everyone enjoys fruitful shopping this season.
@moondrake I was looking for new tablets for my daughters this Christmas and intended to stay under $200, but that price was too good to pass up.
@Lister I just got two screen guards for the new tablet, plus a screen guard and a tempered glass screen guard for my phone (Moto X) for $10 at Xtremeguard. Use coupon code cm90off and stack on it add5 for a 90% plus discount. That code's probably only good for today as cm stands for Cyber Monday. http://www.xtremeguard.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-Pro-10-1-Screen-Protectors-p/samgaltp1xgrds.htm#.VH0HSTHF-5I
