Dell Customer Service Greatness
14I bought a computer from Dell (last week or so). Today, I see it quite a bit cheaper at Best Buy. Naturally, I call Dell to say wtf/return it as it is still shipping.
Without even seeing the link from Best Buy (I am not even sure it was the exact same computer so good thing it is their policy to not check, I found that odd), the specialist at Dell customer service offers to refund me some $ or to send out a shipping label to process the return on their dime. I take the refund and call it a day.
I see Dell get tons of online flak for their crap service. My experience could not have been more pleasant.
Note: this was with the member's line return service department. I have had miserable service from other parts of Dell land. Specifically their gift card code people.
@djslack inspired this post with the Bubba service post.

I've had good CS from Dell too, albeit a different division. At my old work, the majority of the computers were off-lease from Dellrefurbished.com. One desktop craps its DVD-ROM drive 1 week in its 100 day warranty. "We can either send you another drive or credit back $38." -- which was used to buy two new DVD-RW drives from Newegg with change left over. Another computer experienced random errors two month in. "It sounds like the motherboard." This time, we opted to send the whole thing back, which they covered the return shipping and refunded the original shipping in its entirety, even though there were other computers on that same order. "Any issues with the other computers?", they asked.
Nope, and that went for the other 20-some computers we've bought over the years too.
@narfcake Good to hear!!
Had a great experience with the Lenovo ThinkPad I got at work recently for someone.
Ran the hardware test on it, and one of the graphics tests failed, so after re-running it with the same result, I got in touch with the customer service team by phone.
Once I gave them the error code, they said it meant the motherboard would have to be replaced, and they would send me a box to ship it back in.
The box came the next day, and included a Next Day Air label. Took a day for them to fix it, and it came back a day later then.
@dashcloud Impressive!
Dell went on my 'you'll never get a dime of money list' when my ex-daughter-in-law bought a laptop and it died on her first trip, and they flat out refused to honor the warranty in any form. it was an expensive door stop, back in the day when laptops cost a fortune.

@djslack @connorbush. Cool to see good customer service tooted. Too rare seeing it celebrated. Thanks!
BTW, I wouldn't be crying - leaving my money with Dell vs giving it to crappy Best Buy. I don't like those clowns one bit.
I bought some grade A refurb monitors from dell. They looked like they had go through a blender. Took months of calling them before they finally accepted them as returns. According to them, the screen damage wasn't in the "primary viewing area" so it was OK.
@Fen_Star I guess I should have know that when there were paint(?) splotches all over the screen I was in for a rough ride.
Once, our cat discharged her anal glands into my partner's Inspiron. A Dell tech swapped out the keyboard without question, complaint, or commentary. That's A+ in my book.
@saramwrap You do not hear that every day!
