@hchavers I bought a similar one from Meh like two years ago and have yet to open the box. Hopefully the shame of admitting this to you all motivates me to do so, lmao. I actually have uses for it too
@narfcake wow, you win. I have a DLC 8 plus, probably more than 30 years old, still works like a champ (pings to @PooltoyWolf below). This model is a classic, I hope they’ve kept the quality level. If so, this is the last full sized food processor you will own.
@narfcake@PooltoyWolf I did just notice they do not have the “dough blade” - a useful plastic blade that did a pretty good job on certain bread recipes.
@narfcake I bought my Dual CS-508 turntable at Gemco in Daly City in 1979 or 1980. It still works. I replaced a broken drive belt a couple months ago. My parents had a membership but when I wanted to go without them, I’d just walk in closely behind an adult who was showing their card.
@narfcake One of the few appliances that takes longer to clean than it does to use it. My wife loves ours. Probably 15 years old at this point and still going strong. This is actually a great deal if someone doesn’t have one yet.
@narfcake OMG I bought mine in 1983 when I worked at Williams Sonoma and it was the new hot thing! Still works, but getting replacement parts (workbowl) is a pain.
Also, it’s amazing how similar this Cuisinart machine is to one we have here at home that must be 30 years old by now. Must be a good design! The only major difference is the chromed/stainless look vs. our standard appliance white.
@j4yx0r@jhinra For frozen 'ritas, BlendTec is the go-to device. A food processor just can’t achieve the same level of swift pulverization of the ice, even if you start with crushed.
I’ve had a Braun food processor for probably 25 years. I used to use it multiple times a week. Now it just sits in the cabinet and I use a knife. Knives are a lot easier to clean.
@narfcake@PooltoyWolf@stolicat 1. Mine is ~25 years old now. Team Old Cuisinart!
2. I once broke the dough blade and was able to buy a replacement. Assuming the spindle is the same size between models, that could potentially be an add-on.
3. For the people saying it takes too long to clean: what are you doing, mixing cement AND letting it set? I’ve found it to be a pretty quick rinse for most foods if you wash it right away. And it shreds cheese MUCH faster than a grater so the time saved more than makes up for it.
@ampersandranch don’t judge my concrete setting abilities. As a side note, know anywhere to get some dynamite so I can clean out the concrete that set in the car before the wife notices?
I picked up my old Cuisinart at Goodwill for $10 and it remains the best thrift deal I have EVER found. If I didn’t already have one I’d buy this. Years working in bakeries have taught me how versatile these Pro models are, and they really do last forever.

Will it blend?
@yakkoTDI If it only has 2 buttons, power and one you hold down to use it, what do you do if you need to feed stuff in for slicing ?
@iammacha @yakkoTDI Our older version of this model has an ON button that latches for continuous mode and an OFF-PULSE button.
@iammacha @macromeh
Ummmmmmm… That’s what the help is there to figure out.
What is 11 cup? 88oz?
11 cup is what a 12 cup set becomes the first time you wash them in the sink with soapy hands and no non-slip gloves.
@phendrick <coarse British accent> But my cup goes all the way to eleven…
@MrNews <attempting to sound like Terry-Thomas> That’s pretty small, even for man boobs, what? (By Jove, see anything stuck in my teeth?)
Nice
@courteousblock nice
@brochenzo @courteousblock baby
Seems like a missed opportunity to charge 69.69 tho
@courteousblock Reminds me of an old joke about a man and a pickle slicer…
@courteousblock I came here to say the same thing, and I’ll be honest… I’m a little disappointed.
I don’t use the food processor I have now. Why would I want another one, just to have something shiny in the cabinet?
@hchavers as a gift for my birthday next month. Thanks for thinking of me!
@hchavers I bought a similar one from Meh like two years ago and have yet to open the box. Hopefully the shame of admitting this to you all motivates me to do so, lmao. I actually have uses for it too
" Small and large pushers" immediately brought up a mental image of Cheech and Chong.
The product video is private. It must really get out of hand.
@brennyn Oddly, I can’t find one from the Cuisinart gang for this exact model, but I have one you can check out here.
Are you making fun of how I eat?
In a few years, my Cuisinart DLC-7 food processor will be 40 years old. Bought it when Gemco was closing.

Love this ‘write-up’. Bravo. -slow clap-

Got one of these in my last IRK. Need to clear some counter space for it though.
@lordbowen You’re in luck, I got a clean spot right over there.
->me points to kitchen counter
Is anyone significantly upset that this is the first product in a long time that could legit make a margarita and they didn’t celebrate it???
@jhinra Came here for this. I like traditional margaritas, but if you’re looking for the slushy kind, I think this would do nicely
@j4yx0r @jhinra For frozen 'ritas, BlendTec is the go-to device. A food processor just can’t achieve the same level of swift pulverization of the ice, even if you start with crushed.
@jhinra it can absolutely make a margarita, and a good one. Shocked they didn’t mention that
I’ve had a Braun food processor for probably 25 years. I used to use it multiple times a week. Now it just sits in the cabinet and I use a knife. Knives are a lot easier to clean.
@SSteve Same, except it only took me about three weeks to stop using mine and go back to a vegetable cleaver.
I buy this and Mrs. News will insist I throw out TWO of the small appliances proliferating in our kitchen…
I have an older model. It makes a lot of peanut butter. Just nuts and whatever salt is on them. Almond butter, too.
Too bad you can’t get the smaller classic models now
Always have an eye out for them at thrift shops and garage sales
@oldmantick I have one, inherited from some downsizing relative 15-20 years ago. Works a treat- recently made a small batch of fennel pesto in it.
@narfcake @PooltoyWolf @stolicat 1. Mine is ~25 years old now. Team Old Cuisinart!

@ampersandranch Yesssss it makes homemade mac and cheese a breeze. I probably use the shredder attachment the most.
@neuroticsilence gratin potatoes over here. Slice, shred, ta-done.

Guacamole is made with a fork, not a food processor.
@jpr602 I prefer avocados
Mine simply doesn’t work! I have had it looked at by a few others. Just can’t figure out why it won’t start! Can I use the warranty to replace?
