@khunjeff they have a nice weight to them. the paring knife has a great shape. overall i really liked them. good material. sharp. perfect basic knife set.
I have two Cuisinart Santoku knives which I use frequently and love. They are not fancy, but they cut well, and the "speed holes" seem to work well to have stuff not stick.
Hmmm. I have a few high carbon utility knives (Opinel and Tojiro) that require much different care than a typical kitchen knife. They must be kept dry or they will rust. I even wipe them dry while I'm cooking if they're not being used at that moment. Their advantage is that they are very easy to sharpen and take a great edge. This Cuisinart set has a non-stick coating which may protect most of the blade but not the edge. So...meh.
@SinNYC & @Kidsndliz The description actually states "Stainless Steel and Carbon blade" which is what "MEH" is calling what is more commonly referred to as "high carbon stainless steel". This is the type of alloy you find in high quality cutlery such as Henckels and Wustof Trident and contains a high amount of carbon as well as chromium. The chromium makes the blade resistant to rust and stains, the carbon makes it easier to sharpen. The particular alloy used in knives and the tempering process will be a deciding factor in the quality of the blades, however. Therefore you have these "okay" knives (probably a great value--good quality for the price you're paying) and the crazy expensive knives which use a better steel alloy and manufacturing process. The short end of that ridiculously long discourse is that these knives shouldn't rust easily--they contain super-powers--protective metals.
@snapster Hmmm Step 1 wash by hand (will rust in dishwasher - don't ask me how I know that happens to high carbon knives). Step 2 immediately dry. Step 3 if you are paranoid then blow with hair dryer. Step 4 if ya got rice use it. You can always cook and eat the rice if it doesn't work. Backup plan: Buy 365 sets of knives, setting Meh world record for wasted money, then opening a new set when the previous set gets rusty. Then sell rusty ones on ebay. Or add to fuku box for next round of gifts being sent around making sure they have not yet invented how to stab you through your computer via the internet with a rusty knife.
Strange that the Duck-Tape did not stick to the handles. Must be a great non-stick handle but with texture and good shape for grip. It did grip well. Darn Duck-Tape, rarely fails. Texas heat will kill it tho.
@Gaster Well, Google translate obviously doesn't like it. "Bwatdeoni jjikeotna look charred and charred look and I did the typical blade stainless steel knife blade is a real black-I!"
@Gaster he just want to say like below. he was noticed that the colour of blade knives seemed black, so he reckoned you mates took photos stainless steel knives seemed like that. but now he's got understanding that it is really black!! Holy Smokes!
@ceagee We're allowed to stab each other with kitchen knives. Just not utility knives, or hunting knives, or other useful knives. Kitchen knives aren't dangerous, you see; no one anywhere has ever been harmed by a kitchen knife. Those other knives though? Those knives are just itchin' to taste human blood.
The "use caution when opening packaging" warning makes me envision that these are spring loaded in the box. Are they packaged like those joke cans with spring loaded fabric snakes? SURPRISE!!!!
@ardgedee that is almost cool enough - if you had the multicolor polka dot toaster I have regretted not buying and now no longer can find, then for sure cool enough LOL
The blades themselves are definitely worth thirty bucks but the holder is a POS. Mine was missing the retaining screws at the top, but even after replacing them the knives have a hard time staying properly upright in the holder. Any little bump knocks all the blades cattywumpus.
Additionally, the stand is too tall to keep underneath any cabinets set the standard height above the counter top; you have to tip it forward to get a knife out otherwise they don't clear the bottom of the cabinets. I'm going to toss mine out after this post.

Ok, this might actually be useful. Anyone have any thoughts about these knives? 'Zon doesn't seem to have any reviews.
@khunjeff they have a nice weight to them. the paring knife has a great shape. overall i really liked them. good material. sharp. perfect basic knife set.
@ChadP thanks - based on that recommendation, i'm in for one!
@khunjeff if you cut your finger with one of these it's obviously going to be the fault of @chadp
@denboy no. i clearly started they were sharp.
tell that to my lawyer, @ChadP
@ChadP yes but you're still the reason he bought them. you'll need to obtain a release now :)
@snapster dammit. i'm having a legally frustrating night.
@ChadP you can always argue @marklog at trial
@snapster: Seems to me he could lay it all off on @marklog.
Don't bring these to a gun fight, you're gonna have a bad time.
@studerc i read that as "bed time" 3 times and was confused.
@studerc Unless you are a Ninja or Neo that can dodge bullets and you have fancy knife throwing skills.

Says high carbon so they will sharpen easily but this also means they will also rust if you leave them lying around wet.
@Kidsandliz so your clear recommendation is buying 2 sets and a bucket of dehydrant rice so they can rotate them after washing.

칼날이 까맣게 보이길래 일반적인 스테인리스스틸 칼을 까맣게 보이게 찍었나 하고 봤더니 진짜 칼날이 까맣네요!
@Gaster In fact, I have tried to write this comment in English, but i failed. sorry.
@Gaster no problem! hopefully @nathank can translate or give you an answer tomorrow
I'm hoping for something like:
these knives are so ugly they will give you a black eye for looking at them.
@Gaster he just want to say that
@Gaster
@Gaster Well, Google translate obviously doesn't like it. "Bwatdeoni jjikeotna look charred and charred look and I did the typical blade stainless steel knife blade is a real black-I!"
@Gaster @JonT
"At first I thought you made the regular stainless steel look black, but the blades are actually black!" You're welcome.
You only need three knives. 1. Chef knife. 2. Paring knife. 3. Bread knife... I'm drunk. Surprise I typed this. Baby arm!
@Gaster he just want to say like below.
he was noticed that the colour of blade knives seemed black, so he reckoned you mates took photos stainless steel knives seemed like that. but now he's got understanding that it is really black!! Holy Smokes!
@heiligritter This reveal is almost as good as Rosebud was his Sled.
이거 좋아요?
@kwonhyosung "is it any good?"
I doubt I'm going to buy any, but just in case I decide to for some unknown reason, do you ship these to NY ? Most knives can't be shipped to NY.
@Thumperchick I feel so much safer knowing that. Thank you for the explanation. Gotta love the NYS legislature.
@ceagee Don't tell them how much harm you can inflict with an innocent-looking speaker dock.
@ardgedee or a roomba with, say, knives attached or a cat with claws taped down to the top of one
The "use caution when opening packaging" warning makes me envision that these are spring loaded in the box. Are they packaged like those joke cans with spring loaded fabric snakes? SURPRISE!!!!
Need some meh steak knives to match these.
@mjc613 How about a matching speaker dock?
@ardgedee but the knives don't come in purple - oh wait that was power supplies and not speaker docs. I still want my knives in purple though
@Kidsandliz one out of six ain't bad
@Kidsandliz True fact: My household has a set of kitchen knives that are red with white polka dots. Close enough?
@JonT you selling them for 30 bucks? With a purple speaker doc and a purple power supply?
@ardgedee that is almost cool enough - if you had the multicolor polka dot toaster I have regretted not buying and now no longer can find, then for sure cool enough LOL
Meh...It's all I can think of. Maybe a bit overused, but certainly appropriate.
Are they better than Ginsu knives? lol....
Meh.
From the small preview picture I thought the knives were hovering in midair and I was like "WHAT WITCHCRAFT IS THIS?!?!"
The Amazing Purple GINSU set
Just got these in the mail today. Meh.

Blades: Decent cheapish set. Definitely worth the thirty bucks. Bonus goth colouring.
Stand: Just throw it away. Seriously.
@JamesonTX Stars to you for use of "cattywumpus"
