Twenty five years of having a knife in my pocket every day and I’m still shocked at how many people can’t figure out how to close the damn thing.
This is a nice one. It’s replacing a CRKT M16 that I misplaced a month ago. I think I’m at a point in my life where I can once again begin to refuse to lend it to people.
@medz I thought about doing that. I’m not fond of liner locks, and I typically do a bit of reworking of them to ease their operation when they’re overly stiff or sticky, as some of them often are.
@mickeefynn The video applies, but the points where the reviewer is operating the liner lock are not very obvious unless you’re already familiar with how a liner lock works.
@mickeefynn Look in the slot where the blade gets stored. See the angled piece of metal with teeth on it, that has slipped sideways at the blade end, blocking the blade from swinging back closed? Push that sideways to flatten it against the side of the slot, and the blade can be closed. That’s how a liner lock works.
I personally prefer almost any other kind of lock over these, but this kind is really common.
@mickeefynn OBTW, don’t start trying to close the blade until the liner lock has been pushed aside. The lock may jam until you stop pushing on the blade.
Same price as Tuesday. Meh.
@blaineg they’re extra stabbier now though.
@blaineg But you get an IRK refund
@blaineg @troy
Only if you buy an IRK.
@blaineg Dangit, can’t cancel my Tuesday order, can I? OTOH, don’t really need/want another IRK. Win-win
Dec 4th will be a knife day for my delivery
@maxemusway ISWYDT.
@maxemusway but how will you open the package??
@maxemusway @mehvid1 Power tools are always a possibility.
@werehatrack is this what mansplaining is?
Stab! Stab! Stab!

Suggestions for closing this blade. None of the ones I ordered will close once they’re opened
@mickeefynn
Look around 9:40 mark for one example
@medz To someone who hasn’t dealt with a liner lock before, it’s not obvious what the thumb is doing there.
@werehatrack ask your dad to show you
@medz He’d be 117 if he was still around.
@werehatrack I’ll try to make a video when I get mine and explain how to close it like you were my 6yo son.

@mickeefynn And make sure to get all fingers, thumbs, and other miscellaneous body parts out of the path of the blade’s edge while closing the knife.
@mickeefynn @werehatrack
I found a video for this very topic.

Decent knife, but it doesn’t open freely enough. I’ll have to work on it a bit.
