Its a poorly rated product with a minimal amount of reviews which indicates its a shoddy product with no customer base and therefore no support. Save your money and wait for some other crud you Dont need, because meh is just killing it by making you say meh lately. Wanks!
I just counted. Including the tv it's self, I have 6 devices that are currently capable of streaming services. I enjoy buying crap i don't really need, but this is literally the opposite of what I need. I'm going to bed.
The wireless mouse and KB are making me consider it (and I already have 3 Roku's and 1 Chromecast so I don't know why I am). Anyone know if they are Blue Tooth devices or regular wireless?
@Pavlov If it was, in fact, a legitimate buyer. That's an old shill game on eBay... list more than one, have a friend "buy" one to add legitimacy to your listing. Some poor sucker gets caught up in the game and buys the other. Then before you ship the first item, your friend the "buyer" requests to cancel the transaction. Now you've suckered some other poor fool into paying WAY too much for something you paid pennies for.
I did 5 minutes of research that I can't get back, This device is rootable, and you can install gapps. I'm only seeing one rom, and its a little dated. I think I'll pass.
@rileyper Can install xbmc as well, and it seems that it runs fine on the 1.5 ghz model (some reviews were for 800 Mhz chip). Head over to xdaforums for details. Also appears that the 2.4ghz mouse is killing the wifi when used. I'll give it a shot for one more xbmc (er...kodi) + tvaddons stick in the house.
Because I have not personally tried, nor do I believe everything I read online, I'd have to say I'm not positive. With that being said I have yet to find an android device or variant that it will not work on. There are alway older custom builds of xbmc now kodi available online for download.
@dabutch3r Kodi was my first thought.. I dont see RAM specs so I guess less then a gig most likely 512. Single core cpu. Might be worth the $15 to have a extra slower Kodi device.
Don't do it. Cheap Android devices are almost universally awful.
Just grab a Chromecast and fire away, it's a measly $20 more and will work a lot nicer.
This thing might be neat for out-of-the-box ideas. At $15 it's a tiny computer with WiFi built in. Root it, load some apps on it, and it becomes a very different beast.
...you could run XBMC on it!
Might be able to power it and hang a USB OTG cable off of it at the same time, at which point it becomes a crappy Raspberry Pi, but with built-in WiFi. You could have it handle some kind of sensor input.
The possibilities are endless! (Only half sarcastic.)
This is just what I was looking for. I wanted to get rid of the HTPC in my room because all I use it for is to get plex running on the TV in there. This says it supports amazon app store and I have the plex app through amazon so should be a good way to cut down on the PCs I keep running all the time.
@mehybe I just need this for Plex, Youtube, and Netflix! I installed Android-x86 on a PC but could not get netflix to work properly. Then this shows up 2 days later!! I got 2 of these things.
I'm sad. I was looking forward to teaching my son & daughter development with one of these things. We've got an HDMI TV they can use, I was considering grabbing an old Android device that supports miracast and bluetoothing the keyboard & mouse. That all was going to get a bit pricey for a system which must be handled by a 7 & 10 year old. This is perfect. Unfortunately I've bought wine glasses, a toolset, and a charger in the last couple days. I won't be able to put any cash into the bank until Tuesday because the holiday. I've got cash right here :-/. Anyone want to help a father out? Any way to get a hold on one of these things? Or advice on how to work out this transaction? I have Paypal, but I don't have my new card yet. There are those cards I can buy at 7-Eleven to load Paypal as well. I live in Dallas, and honestly I work less than 5 miles from the Mediocre offices. I see the Woot building across the street every day. Just looking for a means to the end. Thanks for any help.
@festercluck You're wanting to teach development with one of these and you can't figure out how to turn the cash in your pocket into a viable way to pay for this item? Really?
@Pavlov No bullshit, but I know I poured it on there. I just want to make it clear, I don't want anyone sending me cash, I'm seriously looking for a solution to getting cash on my card in time to buy this.
@Pavlov Yes, but a) my Paypal Debit Card has not arrived. And b) I can't seem to find a way to add an additional payment method to my profile here, weird.
@festercluck No, I'm the douchebag on this one man, sorry - I missed that you didn't have access to a PayPal Debit Card, I just skimmed and saw you wrote "There are those cards I can buy at 7-Eleven to load Paypal as well" and thought well, you kinda had the solution . . . . I don't think you can use one of those pre-paid cards for online purchases (like the MC/Visa or AmEx Serve) until they verify your identity, and yeah, the bank holiday screws shit up. Tadlem43 seems to be close and is offering to hook a bother geek up - hopefully you'll get it worked out. I'd front you but I'm not in your neighborhood. My bad, man.
@Pavlov@Tadlem43 and I were able to make arrangements. Apparently the new API had a method for transferring the soul of a last born. The daughter and I are middle kids, we should be fine.
@festercluck The site only allows one payment method at a time which you can change while you're checking out. Do you not have any other credit/debit cards you could have used for this?
Most of the bad reviews on Amazon are because of the wireless mouse. The stick seems to work pretty well, but you may have to have a wired mouse to use with it. I think I'll try it... if nothing else, I'll get a mouse out of it...that is unless someone want so to donate theirs! :0
@Tadlem43 I have 2 mice that are 2.4Gz, one that includes a bigger keyboard. If this one is junk, I'll use the other one I have and save at least the keyboard for something else.
I feel like it's trying to tell me something since my name IS Craig. But since I don't listen to myself I'm sure as hell not going to listen to an iCraig.
@chillface First few were better with Sorkin onboard, but I've always been able to stick with it until the end. I think you're in the lull before they start the election, which breathes some more life into the show with new characters.
My current android tv box runs Gingerbread, so this would theoretically be an upgrade. However, the current box also has an ethernet port, which greatly reduces the lag and jitter when streaming video from the internet. (no toothbrush) Hmmm...
Grabbed one to see if it will spark some interest in the boy. "Here. Hack this. Dump some gapps, xbmc, HTPC, and a few other abbreviations onto it. I'll set it here, on top of your Audrino and Raspberry Pi. Lemme get a dustrag first..." Stiff-romantic-noise. Was hoping for some Barry White or Sade. No luck.
I'd like to see the continuing adventures of 2004 man, struggling to understand the technological advances of the past decade. It's a premise with a lot of potential.
why is everyone saying to get a chromecast? they are useless needy little shits. by themselves they do nothing. and paired with a phone all they do is take what your already doing and expand it to the tv. you could always do that using cables, a chrome cast is basically a fancy wireless cable, that takes minutes to configure each time you plug into it.
meh. i am going to hold out for the second generation Intel Compute Stick if it comes out!. maybe I will have a decent monitor with hdmi 2.0 support by then :P
This points even more strongly, I think, to the need for Android users to buy devices where upgrades are controlled by Google, like Nexus devices, or from OEM's with a reputation for rapid updates like Moto. It of course also reinforces the need to consider security before downloading, installing, and running any app.
Craig is probably not that manufacturer. If you buy it, don't do your finances on it!
I bought two of these to attempt to utilize that Silicondust HDHomerun I bought a while back. It looks like they have apps that support Android devices (no support for Amazon Fire TV devices unfortunately) Hope it works on this thing! Any advice?
Yes. You load it with Kodi and all the movie apps I have and you have yourself an awesome mediabox for $20. I am running a rooted Gamestick with all the things I mentioned and it has half the specs of this Craig and does it's job.
Got mine. Took about 6 trys to boot up, kept freezing. Mouse seems ok, keyboard really cheap feeling. Once it had booted up it auto-updated. I had it on all night, it turns into a screensaver clock deal by itself, which was kinda cool.
@theracer378 No Google Play store, just Amazon and some other weird one I didn't recognize and can't remember now. It updated the first time I connected it to wifi, asked to download the update etc
Hmph... not really Meh's fault, but the processor speed is wrong. These are only 1.3Ghz. Craig Electronics misrepresents them on their site. Look at the manual, it has a Cortex A9, 1.3GHz. Be aware :-)
Edit: It seems the firmware may either clock the processor up or make it misreport... more after I investigate.
Just got mine but haven't had a chance to futz with it yet, is it necessary to use up the USB port on the stick with the wireless connector for the mouse? If so, would using a USB hub work with this thing? I'd like to connect up an external HD, so, hopefully I can figure out a way to do that.
Anyone else having problems with it freezing at startup and have a hint to get around it? I can get mine to an android guy that opens and almost fills with jellybeans. Then it freezes? I've tried unplugging and restarting. Sometimes I get a few more jellybeans and sometimes less. I've tried twork units with same results.
@theracer378 thanks i was just about to go that route but i finally tried removing the usb extension cable from the setup and both booted up. Getting the wifi to work on one unit is a different story. Ill have to mess with that tonight.
@jlosdp that's what my first one is doing. Several reboots and just goes black after the jelly bean boot screen. Will flash the upgrade mentioned above in the XDA forum tomorrow and will report back.
so it has apps preinstalled, that's great, but the damn thing does not support the google play store....so how do i update them? the amazon app store does not see them and offers no updates.
i can install the play store and see they need updating, but when i try to update it crashes and will never launch again. resetting the system also makes the play store not launch. the play store seems to only work when installed on a factory reset and then only. so it isn't even good for seeing which apps need updating and then manually going out and getting the updated versions. using these apps are a huge security risk due to being outdated.
so i am thinking maybe a 3rd party app store for updating and installing apps would be best, any ideas people? would like to update facebook, and twitter, and yourtube mainly, but would also be great to get some games too (even just free ones that will update automatically, and i guess pirated ones since i can't really pay for them with no play store)
or could i reflash it with an android version that has the app store and is updated from google vs. where ever this thing gets its updates from. (maybe google already, doesn't really tell you.)
update: this device is vulnerable to heart bleed. i can't believe meh would sell this.
so only option now is to reflash it. (i am having my grandma use this and i can't give her something with security threats)
looking to reflash with a newer version on android that if possible will get updates from google and as well has the play store. any help on this would be great. I'll be doing my own research and i will post if i get anything to work. if anyone knows any information that could help, please reply and let me know :)
I kept getting the stalled jelly bean jar. Tried waiting, power down/up. Different configs...then... Took the extension off the USB POWER CORD. Booted perfectly into 4.1.1.
Solution: Take USB extension cord and dispose of properly.
What a complete piece of shit - the mouse lasted exactly 13 minutes. It's deader than Vaudeville. I only bought it for the mouse and KB so I could use it on my Kodi box. EPIC meh.
I only fiddled with it a little last night. Enough to download the update. Didn't get around to setting up the Amazon App Store and Soc.io (sp?) app store. I wonder if it would be worth rooting and installing Cyanogenmod or the like? I'm guessing someone has already posted a link to instructions?
I will say that the power switch on the mouse is flaky. It has a tendency to turn off if the switch is not in the exact right location.
@sjk3 Download this package and follow the instrctions on the second link. http://www.mediafire.com/download/m64mi2u12wb4k5u/WM8850_Universal_Uberoid_v3.1_JB_4.1.1_22NOV2013-HcH-%5Bwww.TechKnow.me%5D.7z Follow instruction here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49474655&postcount=53 Make sure you do a full format of SD card and not a quick format. Also make sure you unmount the SD card from your PC and not just pull it out as it may erase the ROM like it did to me. Once you insert the card in the Craig, power it on and it will automatically boot from the SD card and flash the new ROM. You see the instructions on the screen and very easy to do. Be patient after the flash completes and you reboot for the first time. The first boot with new ROM takes about 4-5 minutes. It still looks the same until the wallpaper shows up. Good luck and enjoy!!!
Mine won't start up at all. I've tried the original charger as well as other micro USB cables and USB chargers. The port lights up green, but I'm not getting anything on the TV. I've tried with and without the HDMI extension and different HDMI ports. Do I just have to let it sit on a black screen until something changes, or did I get a bad one?
@TVsIan you may have gotten a bad one. please follow the instructions I posted above to reflash it. I posted right above your post with how to flash it to a custom ROM. It is really simple and takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. Hope it works and let us know if it does!
@lcastil1 It still isn't giving me anything but a black screen. It sat there for quite a while, too. I just tried it again with a different charger, but so far I'm still getting nothing.
Mine is powering up just fine, but I can't get the mouse to work. The red light blinks for a few seconds and then goes out. The screen doesn't respond to left or right mouse clicks either.
Guess I got lucky. Mouse works well enough. i notice that the scroll wheel is not supported on all of the apps though. I am writing this with the keyboard from my TV using the opera mini app. The right shift key is very small, and of course that is the one that I use. :-/
I was able to do the update (it asked, not automatic) and it rebooted but lost settings. I was able to get the Amazon app store setup and installed a few apps.
I tried to use Kodi but could not get it to work after install. Attempting to download a nightly build. Downloads take forever!
The wifi on the unit seems pretty unstable. Speed tests tell me I have a fast connection but just seems slow or I will have connection errors or timeouts when trying to load youtube vidoes on the app, vimeo videos on the website, or netflix. I could not get Netflix to play at all yet.
There is one USB port and the USB keyboard/mouse use that. the manual states that you can use a hub however.
@seanrolsen update 2: I cannot get streaming [low-medium quality] video from my desktop without it stopping to buffer every 1-2 seconds. My wireless could be the problem, but as I said I can stream Netflix OK, albeit not at HD. My signal strenght is ~-65 and my wireless connection is listed as "Good" with 62Mb or something is listed for the bandwidth. (Not my download speed, but whatever rate the thing is talking to the access point.
@seanrolsen I loaded the custom ROM posted further up on the thread and love it! I get Neflix but looks really low res for about 4 minutes then goes to HD. I can live with that. Beats using the WII downstairs for Netflix since we hate hearing the fan noise from the charging dock under it (Wii). I did notice some slow app download at times from the Google play store but that was intermitent for the first 30 minutes then seeme to resolve itself.
@PeteBest Yes i have. I am new to Kodi and not sure if the Kodi I installed is a client and I need a server Kodi on my Home PC to work. It installs and does the first initialization screen then stays dark blue. Just a blank screen. I need to read up more on it and how it is supposed to work. I'm guessing it works like Plex in which my Home PC has a server Plex app running and the Craig stick has the Plex client or viewer app. The viewer (Plex) app looks on your network and automatically finds the server app and loads the library. I will poke around later tonight after work and will report back. So far, I love this for Plex since our Wii does not ahve a plex app. I was also hoping to be able to stream movies from fmovief.net like we do from the PC but this device is recognized as a mobile device therfore asking you to create an account and logon.
Ok. Mines shows the android jelly bean guy, and then the screen goes blank. I've tried all combinations of cables and usb power supplies, including some of my own that I know are good. I've even tried the firmware update, and it shows an update message but again the screen goes blank after a few seconds.
I'm using Netflix, the mouse and KB work fine (give the keyboard a work out, some keys will double strike). Wait for the system to boot before expecting the mouse to react normally...the LED will shut off if it doesn't get feedback from the stick.
DON'T USE the USB extender.
Wait until the system boots before trying to use the KB/mouse
Make certain the basic system is working before you mess about if you're new to this.
You can use a powered USB hub on the end of the stick. Plug the WiFi dongle into the hub (this may clear up some interference problems with the dongle)
You can then plug in a USB mouse/keyboard if you wish. Plug a WebCam into a slot for Skype.
It's not a bad system, other than not having Google Play, which can be had by flashing the ROM as described above by @sjk3
Best advice is have patience...for the price (including KB and mouse) it's a cool piece.
@kevzo Are you plugging it directly into the port or through the extension? The extension is shit. And so are the other cables ... try a different micro USB cable too for the power.
@mrinmoy You don't say what troubleshooting steps you've taken so far on this. As warned from the beginning, this thing is pretty shitty, and inclusive of that are the batteries too. Have you tried a fresh pair yet? Are you using the extension, even though that's shitty too? Did you try flipping the power switch off and on again?
@mrinmoy You'll get a much better response if you use the support form: https://meh.com/support (Also, ask nicely the first time you send in a support request- you have better odds that way.)
@dashcloud I already contacted support. They told me to contact Craig. When I got the reply from Craig I notified support. I figured it was an interesting enough development to share.
I haven't had any trouble getting mouse/keyboard/video to work. My only issue is the wifi is garbage. My router is only like 40 feet away through 1 thin apartment wall but most the time when I do download speed tests I get maybe 1 Mb/s down (my home internet is 120 Mb/s down and 12 Mb/s up). I've tested stock rom and rom posted above both with and with out usb extension cable. This is very problematic when trying to watch shows with the plex app, freezes every 5-10 seconds or so... :( ... my laptop in the same room gets ~25Mb/s down and my phone on the 5Ghz gets about 75Mb/s down so it's not my router.
I bought 3 of these, and none of them worked. The android jelly bean image came on the screen for a few seconds, then the screen went black. I waited and waited, but nothing happened. This item is a total piece of junk. I am very disappointed with meh for selling such a terrible product.
@duce_ How did you power them? I found with these sort of things you need to plug it in directly to an outlet for them to work properly. The USB ports on tvs are too low amperage to power them properly.
@stupidrobot I did have them plugged into the wall, but I was using the USB extension cord. Once I remove that extension cord and used a power strip everything worked fine. Thanks for the help!!!
Mine seemed to work, except that every key on the keyboard repeats foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. One tap and a thousand characters - that's pretty high tech!
cant get the mouse to work. dongle plugged directly to stick. mouse flashes red light on bottom briefly, then it goes out. since I'm testing it from a few feet away from the dongle, I don't think that's the issue. so, I guess I need to find a powered USB hub.
on the bright side, @lcastil1 tip on the new OS worked great!
@ekw The mouse is less than ideal. Make sure you have it powered on and the USB dongle plugged in BEFORE turning the unit on. I recommend a USB hub of some sort to get the dongle away from the built-in wifi antenna, they tend to interfere with one another.
My unit has been running the replacement OS since receiving the unit, and the kids love it. I'd also recommend setting everything to install / save on your microSD card if you add one. You'll notice each time the OS boots it has to deodex everything you've installed in main memory. It makes booting very slow.
@festercluck thanks for the tip. I'll have to give it another try when I get home because I definitely was not powering the mouse on before turning on the unit.
I do have a microSD card that I used to replace the OS, so I could use that to install/save on down the road. I'm trying to get this sorted out as I want to give it to my dad along w/ a subscription to Netflix streaming for Christmas.
@festercluck well, I tried it the way you suggested, but it did not help w/ the mouse. and, for a while, the whole thing kind of went into a loop of restarting itself right after the main screen came up, over & over until it froze on the jellybean. then I'd unplug it from power, wait, plug it back in, it would restart, get to the main screen, restart, get to the main screen, restart and freeze. and so on. until (3rd or 4th try?) it stayed at the main screen. but the mouse still did not work, lol. does the keyboard need to be powered on too? I have not even unboxed that yet. I do have a powered USB hub on order, so that will give me something else to try in a few days.
@ekw The loop thing tends to happen when something is having trouble writing to memory. If you've piled a lot into the custom os, I recommend scaling it back some.
@festercluck I don't think I've done that. I just loaded the OS using the instructions @lcastil1 above and then tried to get the mouse to work. I've been pretty much stuck at the start up screen since I can't navigate or click on anything. so I've never actually "done" anything with it, other than stare at the screen in frustration.
CN - the OS should be exactly like it loaded from the microSD card.

Not baby arm compatible. For that alone, meh.
i have a chromecast and a roku and no one to gift this too. meh
What reviews there are on Amazon are not promising.
Meh... Spend $15 more for a chromecast.
@Acets what if you don't have a smart phone to control it?
@medz Amazon Fire TV stick aint bad and comes with a remote. Boom
@medz Then spend $25 more and get a refurb roku stick from ebay?

@amitchejr Well, she was a stranger, when I found this out.
@amitchejr, you're supposed to post the first pic from Google Images with that name.
@haydesigner @amitchejr It's not nearly as exciting as you'd have hoped.
can i use mouse and keyboard on my computer? Stick ll be going to trash can
@eunsik You can donate the stick to me if you really will trash it. :-)
Its a poorly rated product with a minimal amount of reviews which indicates its a shoddy product with no customer base and therefore no support. Save your money and wait for some other crud you Dont need, because meh is just killing it by making you say meh lately. Wanks!
@kdyzol How could it be a poor product? It has "i" in front of it's name, like iPad!
Looks like the reviews on Amazon are pretty bad. I was considering this, but I think I will pass.
@TheCO2 fwiw - you linked to reviews for the Model: CVD601 this is for the Model: CVD602 (in theory 1 better) ;)
@TheCO2 Here are the Amazon reviews for the version for sale here - http://www.amazon.com/Craig-Adapter-Wireless-Keyboard-CVD602/dp/B00BMLQPFU/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1421644125&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=Model%3A+CVD602#customerReviews
@ilovereality Not much better, but I'll fix the link. Thanks! Err... I mean I can't fix the link. MEH!!!
burly-lagging-kitten
Apparently I'll be watching kitten videos. Or something.
@joelmw It's OK, they have 9 lives. Also, why does God care what we do with our free time?
I just counted. Including the tv it's self, I have 6 devices that are currently capable of streaming services. I enjoy buying crap i don't really need, but this is literally the opposite of what I need. I'm going to bed.
@deadlybunny Deadly Bunny? Like this one?
@deadlybunny Thanks for reminder. I changed my vote to Meh.
I counted 8 devices which can stream media to the TV; plus 12 more computers, phones, and tablets.
Don't you have enough shit in your life already to use apps?!
The wireless mouse and KB are making me consider it (and I already have 3 Roku's and 1 Chromecast so I don't know why I am). Anyone know if they are Blue Tooth devices or regular wireless?
@ilovereality 2.4 ghz mouse & KB - not Blue tooth

@khunjeff I love purple.

Bet the person that paid $106 and change plus shipping for one on eBay is really pissed right about now . . . http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Craig-Smart-Tv-Hdmi-Adapter-W-2-4Ghz-Wireless-Keyboard-Mouse-Cvd602-Compute-/350979597441
@ruouttaurmind Dude, shhhhhhh! I'd never do that shit. Wait: I mean, wow, I can't believe someone would do that!

I did 5 minutes of research that I can't get back, This device is rootable, and you can install gapps.
I'm only seeing one rom, and its a little dated.
I think I'll pass.
@rileyper was looking for this info. Thx.
Got it just for the wireless keyboard and mouse.
Yay! Just what I was looking for! ... or I'm Sunday drunk.
Mirrored-sassy-house order number confirms.
I would mouse and keyboard if Bluetooth. But seems not, so meh.
Root, custom rom, gapps, kodi, some plug ins.. Free updated Tv And movies, with a lil work. Well worth it. Thanks meh
@liammc xbmc link 4 lazy plz?
@caffeine_dude
http://kodi.tv/download/
@liammc are you certain that xbmc will run on this thing?
@jayman007
@ren3gade Specs Model: CVD602 Processing speed: 1.5GHz Runs Android 4.1 4 GB flash memory 1GB DDR III RAM https://meh.com/forum/topics/craig-smart-tv-hdmi-adapter-with-keyboard--mouse#54bc8f550c7d29140b4e6c4b

In 4 one for my spare room. If it doesn't work I can always use the keyboard for something.
Eh, I've been looking for an android stick. This price is worth it alone for the wireless kb and mouse.
I did some research; the keyboard and mouse have a separate 2.4 Ghz USB adapter so you can use it with a laptop for example, and just throw away the android stick if it's really that meh. As a comparison, it costs $15 for a wired Amazon keyboard and mouse http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Wired-Keyboard-Mouse-Bundle/dp/B00B7GV802/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1421644281&sr=1-3
...supports ebooks? who reads books on their tv screen?
@vampje Unfortunate folks with failing eyesight!
@vampje I'm thinking it would baffle the youths in my family who don't yet understand irony.
I was thinking of getting something like this as a gift for my mom. The Amazon reviews aren't very positive so I will have to pass.
@JT954 if you like your mom, stick with a mainstream device. (Probably Roku.)
Looks a little too mehdevil for my taste...still,might get one though
Who doesn't!!
Meh. If I didn't get a Chromecast for Xmas I'd probably buy it and root it despite the terrible reviews.
comments killed my enthusiasm
I hope the chicken comes with it! Yum! I'll see how it works with a sansa....I'm talking about Craig, not t he chicken.....
Definitely Meh, even at the cheap price. Go with something more mainstream.
I'd consider it if it supported xmbc or the like and local nfs storage...
I like to play with this kind of crap. Open-plump-neck
my wife said this is a suppository for geeks.
familiar-trashed-jackalope
@Sane Nice! I've ridden that there jackalope
@dmcwhinnie @Sane I have a picture on that jackalope too!
Damn. Just found out these are $10 at the local rite aid.
@jzmacdaddy what?! where?
Did you love Coby? You'll love Craig!
Meh. So was the free VMP an excuse to get rid of garbage for 2 months?
@Jetlag we were selling garbage long before you got free shipping :)
@hales drops truth on @Jetlag
@hales "Long before" being what, 6 months? Or "we" being... that other site?
@Fej You sold me on the crappy Raspberry Pi idea. Now just need meh to sell a USB temperature sensor tomorrow.
I'll see if I can make a meh-tastic app for it. In.
The keyboard only has two backslash keys? Meh. If it had three, I'd be all over this.
Loved the West Wing shout-out. One of the 10 best shows of all time.
All this geek talk is waaay over my head.
Having not owned anything similar before, I'll get a euphoric-absolute-heron and see what they're all about.
$15 for a clock, USB wall wart, KB&M, plus cables. Not a bad deal.
Twitter? Would this mean Twitter on my tv? I'm too confused to buy it.
15 DOLLARS?! Who or what do I have to choke to not have to pay such highway robbery prices?!?!
@sp3ar
@unixrab LOVE that Archer is back on with new epi[c]isodes!!!

and then there's this gem:
@unixrab You're making me laugh through my tears... [of wistfulness over not HAVING AN E-MEH-RSON 39" TV to watch ARCHER on!!!]
@festercluck I'll help you. I'm in Dallas, too. Contact me @ RRTinTX@aol.com. We'll work it out.
@Tadlem43 Email sent.
@festercluck You kind of answered your own question didn't you? Load PayPal via Green Dot - https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/helpcenter/helphub/article/?solutionId=FAQ2404
@Pavlov *brother, not bother, in the above post; I so freaking hate auto-correct.
@Pavlov Then we still have a chance? [1]:
@festercluck
@Pavlov @Tadlem43 and I were able to make arrangements. Apparently the new API had a method for transferring the soul of a last born. The daughter and I are middle kids, we should be fine.
@festercluck The site only allows one payment method at a time which you can change while you're checking out. Do you not have any other credit/debit cards you could have used for this?
@festercluck I have an old mk808 lying around (same thing). If you want it I'll just send it to you.
Most of the bad reviews on Amazon are because of the wireless mouse. The stick seems to work pretty well, but you may have to have a wired mouse to use with it. I think I'll try it... if nothing else, I'll get a mouse out of it...that is unless someone want so to donate theirs! :0
@Tadlem43 happy to send you an old wired mouse I'm not using.
@hammi99 Thank you. That's very nice. I can always use a mouse, but I ordered this, so it'll be an extra... for now. I do appreciate the offer though.
@Tadlem43 I have 2 mice that are 2.4Gz, one that includes a bigger keyboard. If this one is junk, I'll use the other one I have and save at least the keyboard for something else.
Does it support Amazon Instant Video? Not just the App Store?
Already have a Chromecast and a console to stream with.
I wonder if Craig Smart is related to Maxwell Smart?
If I didn't already have a plethora of devices that did the same thing, I might have been interested. Nice price, but it's definitely a meh for me.
listed for popular deal at slickdeals.net yay!
Half tempted to see if I could get MAME4all running on this.
Only half tho'
@pajamma and... the other half gave in. Worth it just to play with.
Maybe I can run a linux distro on it and use it as a simple server.
I am not sure if it would last long, though.

@smokeandlights
Woah!!! Is that a seashell?!?
@bradyson No, you can't plug a seashell in.
@lumpthar
Not just meh, but hell meh.
I feel like it's trying to tell me something since my name IS Craig. But since I don't listen to myself I'm sure as hell not going to listen to an iCraig.
Sorry, this goes in the meh. But points for trying.
I wish I could watch The West Wing for the first time again.
@MehbeMehbeNot Is it worth watching the rest of Season 5 onward? I'm kind of mehing on it at the moment...
@chillface First few were better with Sorkin onboard, but I've always been able to stick with it until the end. I think you're in the lull before they start the election, which breathes some more life into the show with new characters.
@MehbeMehbeNot & @chillface: Maybe this will tide you over for a while: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/17/west-wing-cast-reunion_n_6493448.html
Does anyone own this? Is it laggy?
@georgenmathew I had a generic mk808b, and it did the job okay.
I will probably regret it, but I have to justify my VMP subscription somehow plus morbid curiosity.
@sjk3 This exact statement
@sjk3
@JonT can you toss one of these in my FUKU bag before it ships? I Love Baths!!!
@JonT can you please toss a Fuku bag in with my Craig thingy?
@RedOak one FUKU coming your way!!!
The keyboard and mouse really move this from meh to deal.
My current android tv box runs Gingerbread, so this would theoretically be an upgrade. However, the current box also has an ethernet port, which greatly reduces the lag and jitter when streaming video from the internet. (no toothbrush)
Hmmm...
I'm not sure if the smart TV adapter has any value to me or not, but I think I can scrap out the keyboard, mouse and cable, if all else fails.
Grabbed one to see if it will spark some interest in the boy.
"Here. Hack this. Dump some gapps, xbmc, HTPC, and a few other abbreviations onto it. I'll set it here, on top of your Audrino and Raspberry Pi. Lemme get a dustrag first..."

I'd like to see the continuing adventures of 2004 man, struggling to understand the technological advances of the past decade. It's a premise with a lot of potential.
@DJP519 I'd be more interested in 1994 man. He just bought his Tandy 486sx and signed up for CompuServe before slipping into a coma.
Bluetooth? Meh. Maybe if it had purple tooth.
meh. . . personable-studious-basketball
Bought one. Hopefully will help my average-loose-knee
Does it use an RTL2832U so that it can run SDR applications? RTLSDR doesn't mention it, but I hope so as I am order for that aspiration.
@dude Did you end up buying one? If so, please do update here or there on if it uses a supported RTL chip.
why is everyone saying to get a chromecast? they are useless needy little shits. by themselves they do nothing. and paired with a phone all they do is take what your already doing and expand it to the tv. you could always do that using cables, a chrome cast is basically a fancy wireless cable, that takes minutes to configure each time you plug into it.
@upbeatanime You do not have one do you? I configured mine once. No cables is awesome.
meh. i am going to hold out for the second generation Intel Compute Stick if it comes out!. maybe I will have a decent monitor with hdmi 2.0 support by then :P
also remember that anything that runs below 4.4 Kitkat has a known security vulnerability with webview -- https://plus.google.com/+EliFennell/posts/DUiEA98kYst
Craig is probably not that manufacturer. If you buy it, don't do your finances on it!
Isn't 4.1 the Heartbleed Edition?
@beerandhotwings Yes, there are 4.1 versions with that problem. I am not sure about this model, though. There are fixed 4.1 versions.
@cdac1234 4.1.1 is reported to be vulnerable. The product description is not specific enough to determine for this unit.
@beerandhotwings this product does have heartbleed :( ridiculous they sold these.
I'll think I'll hold off and just Meh it. Maybe if it comes back around I might go for one then. I have enough Android stuff(phone, 2 tablets)
@stryper2000 Remember, you also get a cordless mouse & keyboard- if you need one of those, it might be worth getting still.
@dashcloud I appreciate the counterpoint but I don't need either of those
unnerving-cowardly-weasel
I bought two of these to attempt to utilize that Silicondust HDHomerun I bought a while back. It looks like they have apps that support Android devices (no support for Amazon Fire TV devices unfortunately) Hope it works on this thing! Any advice?
I missed out on this awesome deal!!! Any way of getting 2 of them still? Please!!!!
@dam90042
Yes. You load it with Kodi and all the movie apps I have and you have yourself an awesome mediabox for $20. I am running a rooted Gamestick with all the things I mentioned and it has half the specs of this Craig and does it's job.
@dam90042 What apps do you use? I have no idea what I will do with this one, I still have 2 Equiso's from their kickstarter...
@dam90042 Unless, of course, Kodi doesn't work - which it doesn't :(
Anyone know if you can hook a windows media center remote up to this instead of keyboard/mouse?
I'm actually more excited about getting this in the mail than more of those crappy sleeves and my Fuku bag!!!!

About FUKUN time i see label created!
Got mine. Took about 6 trys to boot up, kept freezing. Mouse seems ok, keyboard really cheap feeling. Once it had booted up it auto-updated. I had it on all night, it turns into a screensaver clock deal by itself, which was kinda cool.
@tightwad When it did the update, did the Google Playstore become available? or are we still stuck with the Amazon App Store?
@theracer378 No Google Play store, just Amazon and some other weird one I didn't recognize and can't remember now. It updated the first time I connected it to wifi, asked to download the update etc
@tightwad Alright, thanks for your quick answer. Looks like I am going to be forced to flash a custom ROM to it then. Lol
Hmph... not really Meh's fault, but the processor speed is wrong.
@jhagan I suggest trying to do a re-flash of the stock firmware. it can be found at the Craig website. It is very simple and comes with step-by-step instructions.... Here is the link.... http://www.craigelectronics.com/site/pdetails.php?id=576
@theracer378 thanks i was just about to go that route but i finally tried removing the usb extension cable from the setup and both booted up. Getting the wifi to work on one unit is a different story. Ill have to mess with that tonight.
@jhagan wifi is very buggy for me.
Anyone else having an issue with the jellybean and android logo popping up and then the screen goes black? That's all mine does, garbage..
@jlosdp that's what my first one is doing. Several reboots and just goes black after the jelly bean boot screen. Will flash the upgrade mentioned above in the XDA forum tomorrow and will report back.
@jlosdp yea mine too! Have 2 and neither of them work. Going to reload the software
@jlosdp I removed the power usb extension and it boots just fine now!!!!
so it has apps preinstalled, that's great, but the damn thing does not support the google play store....so how do i update them? the amazon app store does not see them and offers no updates.
i can install the play store and see they need updating, but when i try to update it crashes and will never launch again. resetting the system also makes the play store not launch. the play store seems to only work when installed on a factory reset and then only. so it isn't even good for seeing which apps need updating and then manually going out and getting the updated versions. using these apps are a huge security risk due to being outdated.
so i am thinking maybe a 3rd party app store for updating and installing apps would be best, any ideas people? would like to update facebook, and twitter, and yourtube mainly, but would also be great to get some games too (even just free ones that will update automatically, and i guess pirated ones since i can't really pay for them with no play store)
or could i reflash it with an android version that has the app store and is updated from google vs. where ever this thing gets its updates from. (maybe google already, doesn't really tell you.)
update:
this device is vulnerable to heart bleed. i can't believe meh would sell this.
so only option now is to reflash it.
If your device does not boot remove the power usb extension cable and it will boot.
Helpful hint!!!!!
@lcastil1 Thanks for the clear instructions - worked first try (even on a Mac: ran the bat file using wine)
I just tried it again with a different charger, but so far I'm still getting nothing.
got mine today. powered up with a good powered cell charger, all went well. going to flash new operating system. will update
@clark3rd Any update?
@Skylord123 got it flashed, works well. It's a lot snappier than the one I got last year (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BFXOZE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) i haven't tried the mouse and keyboard yet, it worked with the lenovo wireless keyboard i already had.
@clark3rd Thanks for your response. Going to try out flashing it tonight and see how it works. The plex app via amazon store is utter crap.
My mouse will click but the pointer wont move. I tried plugging the usb into my laptop and same thing.
Mine is powering up just fine, but I can't get the mouse to work. The red light blinks for a few seconds and then goes out. The screen doesn't respond to left or right mouse clicks either.
The keyboard and mouse work with a desktop computer just fine.
@seanrolsen update: I was successfully able to watch Netflix.
@lcastil1 Hi, have you tried loading Kodi with the ROM update you did? Thanks
The adapter does not work at the first minute of installation. The mouse does not work either. It's a mistake to buy this package.
This is pure JUNK!! Never could get it to work. Threw in trash. Grateful I only paid $20.
Got mine and it dont work? Tried in 2 diffrent tv's got to the Jelly Bean then blank screen of green and red horizontal noise?
@kevzo Are you plugging it directly into the port or through the extension? The extension is shit. And so are the other cables ... try a different micro USB cable too for the power.
@narfcake So i got the video thing straight. Now I got the mouse problem. I sent E-Mails to CRAIG with no customer support.
@kevzo Any tips on how you got the video to work? :-)
The mouse does not work. Please give me my money back or send me a new mouse.
@mrinmoy Contact: https://meh.com/support
Just a heads up, the Craig folks told me they weren't honoring the 90 day warranty if you bought the product through meh.com.
@Jont See above.
@dashcloud I already contacted support. They told me to contact Craig. When I got the reply from Craig I notified support. I figured it was an interesting enough development to share.
@paulgraham okay- thanks.
@paulgraham @dashcloud we're working on fixing this right now actually, sorry for the trouble.
@mehybe gyou mean you expected it to work??
It worked for a day. Now it wont boot.
I guess it was a box of.....
(puts on glasses)
Crap.
Enjoy!
@festercluck I don't think I've done that.
