17I guess some cops can see a donut in just about anything.

I do not mean to make light of this...but you understand anything with donuts and you brings up AG.
(so few people will get this)
@mfladd
I feel bad for how those donuts were treated. Nothing against AG of course.
Perra Grande
I used to know a police horse who also loved donuts. He would steal them from the officers eating them. Particularly jelly filled.
and it's all meaningless when we're largely unwilling to prosecute police officers for blatantly breaking the law like this. as mentioned, district attorneys and public prosecutors have a huge incentive to work with law enforcement, so it's an absolutely unchecked system.
everything sucks, burn it.
When a profession closes ranks to protect the bad apples, whether it's police, priests, or teachers, they choose to allow the bad apples to spoil the barrel.
When they make that choice, they should be viewed accordingly by the public and deserve the lost trust.
Pro tip - don't swerve for cats (or bunnies either). The cat has a better chance if you just keep going straight. This is especially true if you're riding a bike (or if you're a YBM, apparently).
@uwacn Bingo! My insurance agent gave me a few hints recently:
Of course, none of this may apply for larger animals or farm animals, and laws may vary.
@uwacn who do you have insurance with?? Both scenarios would be considerd a collision.
@growyoungagain
My experience (hit a deer and smashed the grill, buckled the hood, damaged the radiator of my car) was that my claim was handled by my insurer as a comprehensive claim, $100 deductible, no effect on rates.
@macromeh With my insurer if you are behind the wheel and the tires are moving, it is handled as collision. Maybe they consider hitting an animal as an act of god?
what the actual fuck mr 360 circles.
The following story is a more complete picture - same gist but read thru to the end for a better understanding of the attorney's perspective... he just might be going places. Quite a background and he's running for office.

Thank freaking dog that the pictures existed. Without them, I don't doubt they'd have tried to make an example of this kid.
A friend of mine is heavily involved with biker rights. After the shooting in Denver this month, he came into possession of photos showing the cop that killed the guy, one with his gun out next to the guy and another outside, after having just killed a man, no cuffs and being allowed to use his cell phone.
