At our old house, we had an electric lock from some no-name Chinese company. I think it cost $30. It came with these RF remotes, though, that were super convenient and became everyone’s favorite way to unlock the door. We could enter a code or use a key, but the remotes were by far the most common. I’m having trouble finding any modern lock that people review as providing anywhere near as much user satisfaction as that $30 lock did in 2012.
C rake and jiggler keys.
@sillyheathen What did you do in your previous life (or have you not formally retired?)
@sillyheathen Comb picks are close, because of the “wait, why does that actually work” factor.
@phendrick I’m a “Jill of all trades”?

Incanting “Alohomora” while waving your wand.
@phendrick that made me proper giggle. Just no Avada Kedava, or as the Englishman likes to say, “I’ll have a cadaver!”
@sillyheathen Are y’all friends with @yakkoTDI?
Facial recognition
@heartny I do recognize that face for I have seen it before. (On meh.com, no doubt.)
@phendrick Did it unlock something?
@heartny Well, my front door was unlocked when I got home, but that could be caused by my atrophied gray matter.
Shotgun
I once saw a cop turned gun podcaster who had a funny shirt. It was black with a white silhouette of a shotgun and below it said: DOORBELL
The way that doesn’t compromise my personal security from “accidental” leaks
“Open sesame”
