MrGlass is buying plastic? Then I guess MrBamboo went with stainless steel!
$10 sounds great ... but my better half just pitched all our plastic. Now we're lugging around heavy as you-know-what glass or stainless steel that leaks.
Meanwhile, we're still using ketchup that comes in plastic bottles ... drinking grapefruit juice that comes in plastic-infused waxed paper cartons. Can't win for losing.
I got the blue thing at Aldi a while ago. Love it. Gave in and got this set too because dressing sometimes leaks in the non-dressing-intended container from the blue one. Sturdy little set. Was worried about the clamps, haven't been let down yet.
I bought these the last time they were sold. Two bucks cheaper this time around. The compartments in the one are fine for little kids but that is about it. Not sure what they are claiming but stuff stays cold to cool for around 2-3 hours when it is 90+ degrees out. Likely would last until lunch time being cold if it was indoors but I used mine working outside. I then tried sticking it in an insulated bag that you freeze (bag is made out of that gel stuff) and then it was nice and cold at lunch time. Doing that added about 2 hours to keeping stuff cold in that kind of heat.
I am stunned at the $70 plus-shipping-no-prime listing on amazon. People would really pay $76 for this set of plastic containers? Nice as they may be, get real! It is still a plastic lunch container!
@craigthom what we can tell, is that people have bought it, but not much recently, because of it being the 450,000th best selling item in Kitchen. There's also a lot of reviews of it. 134 reviews at 4.5 stars is a bit amazing, people must love the heck out of these. Or they are shill reviewers.
@katbyter@craigthorn - camelcamelcamel doesn't have any data on the price. It must be a price mistake. That's actually really odd. I've never seen anything that camelcamelcamel doesn't have data for.
@eblade I skimmed through and didn't see any views for the three-product combo pack. All the ones I saw were for the salad one by itself.
But even if there are reviews for the 3-pack, as Amazon calls it, that doesn't mean any of those people bought it from that third-party seller for that price.
I just skimmed all the reviews and found two for the two-pack of salad containers. All the other reviews were for a single salad container. There were no reviews for this combination.
It sucks the way Amazon piles all the reviews together like that.
@luvche21 not all that odd, camelcamelcamel i'm pretty sure only tracks data for products that have had a certain number of searches on them for.. i see things all the time that it either has zero data for, or the data that it does have stopped updating for very long periods of time.
@thechinglish I think I'm going to start taking lunch to work with this. For about a week. Then I'll get tired of washing it and doing the prep and go back to buying lunch. But for that week I'll be using the heck out of this thing.
I really want to buy this, even though I bought the set a year ago September and it is still in the box. Actually that set was better in theory because it had two salad kits, although I'm not sure if it matters if you never use it. I guess I want more because the salad kit is green now? And I have a hoarding problem? Anyway, it's a very attractive set, feels study, etc.
Amazon has these cheaper than $76 if you buy them individually, which makes no sense. $30 will get you a salad container, bento, and two steamers. Why would anyone pay more than double that for a set with fewer pieces? Still cheaper here by far, but not understanding the logic at the mother ship.
@katbyter well technically Amazon is just the mothership for woot, not meh. Unless you are implying they are the mothership for all e-commerce, which is probobly a valid argument at this point.
@christinerenee Unless...Is the 3rd party seller one of us!?? Fess up. Which one of you bought this last time to try to sell it for a ridiculous price on Amazon? How many of you listed it on Ebay?
I am so stoked. I have been holding back my dire need for sectioned off bento boxes for months... now they are so cheap I ordered two! Which means 6! MUHAHA self restraint pays off
I don't think I've ever owned a gluon, at least not a one word gluon. Please tell me there is a Klingon included. Same deal never owned a one word klingon. On yea, 2 word versions by the butt load. For ten dollars I would buy a load of crap if I didn't already have one. I might pay $10 for the description of this product but you forgot to say spoiler alert.
By the way, Amazon does not have especially good prices. There are others "shitforfree.com", "good shitforfree.gov" and "noshitsherlockforreal.dispensary
Years ago, a girl I knew cursed me forever with the question, "Is it hard to clean?" We're not talking personal hygiene here, but shopping for kitchen gadgets.
I tend to take leftovers to work, and I cook a lot of curries, rice, etc. One bowl with a top works for me and is easy to clean.
Just saying, these things hold food real good, no matter how many pieces they add up to.
What is the @ for our intrepid blurb writer again?
I like the blurbs - they are about half of what draws me to meh every day. But am I the only one who stumbled over 'good' in that sentence? I think it needs 'well' there instead.
Price comparison is very poorly chosen today meh - I'm disappointed. The price you highlighted is so out of line with the others, it is either a price mistake or someone looking to take advantage of others mistakes.
Five minutes of searching, and looking in the 'others bought' section of the listing meh chose lead me to: Bento Box $11.39 Salad Storage $7.45 Steamer tray $10.99
Grand total of about $30.
I trust meh to be honest and fair with us, but this gives the appearance of being deceptive.

"respective-ghastly-icicle"
How you know it was for wife?
That spicy hot salad looks delicious.
Possibly the best item I have purchased from Meh, I use these for lunch every time I go into the office.
Immediately bought 3. rowdy-muddled-strudel.

God, you got me with the cooking knives and now you almost got me with this one too. Back in my VMP days this would be an instabuy.
Glen looks like he got hot sauce in horrible salad in the picture they posted--maybe he is burning mad about that problem
Priced low so you bentover and buy...
I got the blue thing at Aldi a while ago. Love it. Gave in and got this set too because dressing sometimes leaks in the non-dressing-intended container from the blue one. Sturdy little set. Was worried about the clamps, haven't been let down yet.
@zehnn Great that it's great. But that Aldi reference worries me.
@RedOak Do Aldi products have a reputation for being more meh?
@zehnn at our local Aldi store, yes.
Yup...I'm addicted...bought 3...again: miraculous-forlorn-expansion

@katbyter that would be Amazon's little inverted-Meh storefront.
@katbyter We only know the third party seller has listed it for that price. We don't know that anyone has paid it.
I got some late gifts here.

@craigthom very true.

@eblade And this particular set was only put on Amazon 1 month and 2 days ago. That could be part of it too.
@katbyter Straight from the company they're only $15
http://shop.coolgearinc.com/ez-freeze-expandable-bento-box/
that is just for one of the 3 sets though
@katbyter now Amazon is saying it is only $11.39 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BSZJGII/ref=dra_a_sm_ff_fx_xx_P2000_1000?tag=dradisplay-20&ascsubtag=2490480412974f0f0d239964af2585a4_S
@katbyter As I posted lower down, I found all three at Amazon for $30.
Everyone shush. I got it and I have no idea what to do with it. Whatever it appeases my retail trigger finger for cheap.
meh you're my cheap main b*tch.
@thechinglish I think I'm going to start taking lunch to work with this. For about a week. Then I'll get tired of washing it and doing the prep and go back to buying lunch. But for that week I'll be using the heck out of this thing.

@mossygreen is this your house?
@thismyusername How did you get that picture? Do you live nearby me?
@thismyusername pretty sure I was at an estate sale at that house a few weeks ago. hoooo boy.
@eblade anything good? sometimes some real gems are hidden in the muck....
@thismyusername that is the first time I have seen a house that is literally bursting at the seams!
@mossygreen ...are you me?
@thismyusername Eventually, yes.
@mamawoot My gut says no, but it can't be ruled out entirely.
I can't wait to try these out. My wife is going to kill me for buying more food storage though. Wish me luck! amused-vibrant-gelato
@bradyh30 oooooohh, show these storing vibrant gelato!
exemplary-tan-frog :(
@squirrelsuit D:
That picture of the steamer. You're doing it wrong.
My arched-elite-army of food storage and handling devices will overcome you!

@katbyter well technically Amazon is just the mothership for woot, not meh. Unless you are implying they are the mothership for all e-commerce, which is probobly a valid argument at this point.
@katbyter Third-party seller. That's not Amazon's price.
@katbyter Straight from the company they're only $15
http://shop.coolgearinc.com/ez-freeze-expandable-bento-box/
No matter how many pieces it has, how can it possibly be $70 on Amazon? It is cute, tho... I'm tempted.
@christinerenee Unless...Is the 3rd party seller one of us!??
Fess up. Which one of you bought this last time to try to sell it for a ridiculous price on Amazon? How many of you listed it on Ebay?
In for two. One set for us and another to give away to some unsuspecting soul who will then feel compelled to pack a lunch or something.
These seem like they actually might sell out... They are selling well anyway.
I am so stoked. I have been holding back my dire need for sectioned off bento boxes for months... now they are so cheap I ordered two! Which means 6! MUHAHA self restraint pays off
After so many good comments I'll buy...
stiff-immortal-bedbug
In for three. I get a lot of my Bento supplies at Daiso Japan (its an amazing $1.50 store). Powerful-itchy-panda!
For those of you looking to get into bento, here is a good tutorial to start you off - http://www.justonecookbook.com/how-to-make-bento/
Your Amazon prices are wayyyyy off. I'm pretty bent-Out of shape about it.

Not with this bento set!

Got one of these in a fuku, I think. Use it all the damn time. This was a no-brainer.
Belated christmas gift? Sure!
Winning-moist-barium wtf? I don't want to win that.
@sohmageek better go see the Doc. Now.
So missing the Chromebooks from last Thursday.
I would get this but living in DC, I have no storage to store this storage.
