@PyxienTX drop by over here. I live alone but cook like i have 14 children. Which by the number of people that conveniently drop by around food times I should probably get some sort of tax credit for…
@pfarro1 I used to be that way. When I was raising my daughter. I’d come home from work and have 10 people standing on my patio waiting with grocery bags full of food to prepare. Worked out very well, as I was a single parent, loved to cook and bake and they bought all my groceries. Now, I am quite the shut in, and could not handle having 2 people in my house let alone 10 or more.
@PyxienTX I wish people showed up to my house with food. I love cooking if there is other people involved… But when it’s by myself, I’ll settle for cooking up some zucchini and that’s it. I just don’t feel as motivated to cook more elaborate stuff.
My grandmother taught me that cooking for the family was love. Her holiday meals delighted everyone. My mother showed me that cooking can be quick and easy. My father showed me that men can cook, and that inventiveness is a plus. My daughter went beyond everything I’ve learned and shows the world that fresh, healthy food is wonderful.
I love to cook. It’s basically my only real creative outlet. I was actually just thinking that meh needs to put a panini press on sale. I need a new one for my Cubanos. What ya say?
I prefer baking from a cookbook/recipe. I don’t feel that I’m that creative of a cook. I can follow recipes no problem, but I can’t come up with stuff that tastes good on the fly a lot of the time. I’ve made many a failed vegetable soup.
I can cook. That is to say that I can take a recipe, assemble the ingredients, and come out with something that tastes good and is moderately close to what the author intended. I don’t particularly enjoy doing it, but (most days), it beats nuking something from the freezer.
My wife, on the other hand, can cook. She can take a handful of seemingly random groceries and end up with a meal fit for royalty. And she does this regularly.
@DaveInSoCal probably not too far from you since you apparently live in SoCal. I’m part of a team opening a new place next month in West Covina. I’d say the name and blatantly advertise, but I don’t know if that’s allowed here.
@DaveInSoCal in that case…
It’s called The Food Hub and we’re opening on Nov 11. Fast/casual, serving pasta, burgers, and baked goods. All made in house. We’re grinding our own burgers, baking the buns, making all the pasta and sauces.
@Barney Hmmm. I’m pretty good at cleaning up; maybe I should visit.
Are you done with your shed? I know how to hold a paintbrush.
Not pulling’ no weeds tho
I hate to cook. I had to when I had a kid at home as DHS takes a dim view on only feeding your child things that don’t involve cooking and don’t involve eating out. LOL
Can be fun, but often is just a chore.
/giphy cooking fun
@2many2no yup. That’s why this a complete meh. Can’t stand shit knives.
@skymeat I read this in Gordon Ramsey’s voice.
Ain’t nobody got time fo dat.
A necessary chore that can be fun at times, like around Halloween.
It used to be fun, but cooking for 1 is not. I haven’t cooked in over a year. I do miss home cooked meals, but not enough to actually cook.

Thanks for the invite, though.

I love to cook…for 2 or more persons. If I’m by myself, I serve myself a can of peas…not even heated up…right out of the can! Mmmm…Good Eats!
@tohar1

I cook because I’m too cheap to eat out.

I can grill a steak no problem though.
I admittedly cook a bit less fancy now that I just cook for myself, but I can’t imagine not cooking something different and exciting every day.

And that’s why I’m about 40 lbs overweight.
I can cook. Or I used to could.
But now I rarely bother. Too addicted to other stuff.
@f00l Meth is a hellava drug.
@f00lIf I weren’t so cheap I’d live at cuban restaurants. Still haven’t got around to making Mariquitas.
@therealjrn
That it is.
Kinda more “I’m meth’s bitch” than “meth’s my bitch”, if you know what I mean.
@cranky1950
I’m too cheap also. But Cuban places are expensive here.
Now Taco Trucks - we don’t have them on every corner yet, but we believe in the future.
Next to exercise, cooking is the best thing for my health.
My Favorite Chef
Still waiting for that special someone to cook with.
I cooked tacos
@DaveInSoCal I’m still waiting for some ribs.
@Barney You know what? The ribs were such a PITA that I haven’t cooked them since. I need a simpler method.
Made hamburgers tonight, and meatballs which will go with pasta tomorrow.
@DaveInSoCal That’s alright. I can wait for the ribs.
@DaveInSoCal I think you need one of these

What I do for a living.
@AnnaB ooooh! Where? We need a meh fieldtrip!

@AnnaB As one if the original mehtizens, i feel i have the authority to approve your blatant self promotion. Go for it!

@AnnaB How did y’all decide on a name like Food Hub?
@compunaut a hub is a central location. 3 concepts under 1 roof.
@AnnaB Sounds good! I’m down in San Diego, so a bit of a hike, but if i get up there I’m all over it!
@AnnaB Want pics! Of both place and food, please
@compunaut instagram. thefoodhubca
@AnnaB Do you deliver?
Whoa! Look @ the pics of the baked goods on FB.
I like cooking. Hate the cleaning up.
@Barney Hmmm. I’m pretty good at cleaning up; maybe I should visit.

Not pulling’ no weeds tho
@compunaut Good, I’ll get the peanut butter and jelly ready!
Shed is done except for some touch up on the doors. Maybe I should post another blurry picture?
(I don’t pull weeds; I mow 'em down.)
Cooking is even more annoying than having to eat constantly.
