Coffee Booze, what's your favorite?
3Kahlua does not count, unless you make your own, then recipe please.
A year or so back, I tried Mr. Black at a coffee con. It was pretty good. A few months later, I bought the NoLa liquor from St. Georges. Made in the style of the New Orleans Coffee from Blue Bottle out of SF.
I recently found Jameson Cold Brew and Jagermestier Cold Brew and a bunch bunch more.
What do you like? And why?

allen’s coffee brandy. not available where i am, but it’s low priced and tasty in the upper east coast
@spacemart Oh God that stuff just made me throw up in my mouth, brings back my days at college in Maine
One does not put coffee into booze.
It’s the other way around.
Bailey’s. On the side, please.
Ahhh… lots of alcohol goes great with coffee.
Baileys, Amaretto, Nocino, Frangelico, Whisky.
As for asking which is the best, that’s like asking what the best fruit is.
I’ve got some cheap Mexican something (forget name, starts with a C I think) - it’s vanilla cream something… it’s good in coffee too. Dirt cheap but tasty.
Coffee and alcohol are like strawberries and cream… they were made for each other. No better way to end the day than a spiked coffee. (especially if you’re a weirdo like me and coffee makes you sleepy)
@OnionSoup My brother-in-law is Swiss. He drinks a cup of strong coffee with Schnapps every night before bed. It has been a ritual since he was a teen. Once my sister secretly started substituting decaf coffee. This resulted in terrible headaches and she had to switch him back to regular coffee.
@macromeh Yeah, fortunately I’m not caffeine dependent, I can quit cold turkey for a week and don’t have any side-effects (And have several times, like when in a conference with no access to good coffee; I’d rather drink no coffee than bad coffee).
Caffeine doesn’t give me jitters, or wake me up. It has more of the opposite effect if anything (although I think it’s more that warm/hot drinks tend to be soothing by themselves- not the caffeine that soothes). Sometimes I drink a metric crap-load of coffee a week, and others I drink almost none.
@OnionSoup Same here. Growing up in New Orleans, coffee is an anytime drink. I have the same reaction to caffeine as well. Although it does get me out of the morning fog. I also can’t understand decaf. What’s the point?
And Frangelico and coffee with a splash of Kahlua is like drinking a Snickers bar.
I actually hate this trend of adding coffee to all the alcohol, especially stouts and porters. Then again, that’s mostly because one of the coffee organics triggers massive headaches for me, and it’s torture at times being on a campus and not being able to take advantage of all the free coffee.
That being said, I’ve heard nothing but praise for the Jagermeister Cold Brew.
@awilkey I’m so sorry
they should disclose imho, so if we like it, we drink it, if we don’t we don’t
it’s like i can’t have more than a small glass of RED wine, the tannins can trigger a cardiac arrhythmia for me.
Not really my cup of tea (so to speak…), but Patron XO isn’t bad…
Coffee. Work. Booze. Sleep. Repeat
Cafe Lolita, hands down - great coffee taste & not as sweet as Kaluha.
So, I love any Irish cream added to coffee- I’ve tried O’Ryans, St. Brendan’s, and Bailey’s at least (you can get non-Bailey’s pretty cheap, and they’re tasty).
I also do love coffee beers- DuClaw makes some amazing stuff for a national brew (Sweet Baby Java).
