@LaVikinga@llangley Right? RIGHT? There’s no reason the cremes should be so expensive. At Safeway here they’re $5.29. But then there’s no reason a Hermes bag should be $10,000 either.
@llangley@ruouttaurmind My closest Walmart carries them for around $3.25 for a box of 12 twin packs. Those are like crack and are forbidden in my house. Seriously. Those things, Doritos, and Wise Cheese Doodlez aren’t allowed except on special occasions. Total crap ingredients that I would happily mainline if they weren’t so bad for me.
@LaVikinga Oh for the love of Wise Cheese Doodlez. They used to sell those in the cafeteria when I was in high school. Lunch was usually a snack bag of Wise Cheese Doodlez, a Little Debbies Nutty Bar and a chocolate milk. No grocers around here sell the Cheese Doodlez (thank goodness!).
@mikibell This was the first year I’ve purchased GS cookies in well over a decade. I usually just make a donation to them when they’re peddling their crack cookies outside of my local grocery store. Broke down this year when the most adorable Girl Scouts came to the door hauling a big red wagon behind them overflowing with assorted cookies.
Kinda sad to see not only have some of the cookies gotten smaller in size, there aren’t as many in a box.
Just as well. My backside doesn’t need cookies, but dang, there’s something about those Do Si Dos and Samoas that makes them addictive. I guess it was a good thing there were fewer of them to eat in the middle of the night.
@LaVikinga I agree with the lacking value in a box of cookies… But darn, there are very few I would turn down… Do si dos, savannah smiles, tagalongs, and samoas!! Yummmmmmmmyyyyy luckily my daughter doesn’t sell them any more!!
@mikibell@RiotDemon Oh, Lord, and I have to go to Publix tomorrow. Must.Not.Buy.
I’ve been buying the Keebler Grasshoppers for the kids for years, and every once in a blue moon I pick up some Coconut Dreams for meeeeee!
@LaVikinga you must try them if you haven’t. They are bigger than the thin mints. You can also scrape the fudge layer a little and see that they actually have a mint layer on top of a chocolate cookie instead of just a mint flavored cookie. Plus, they’re much cheaper.
@RiotDemon Wonder what would happen if I put a small scoop of chocolate ice cream between two of the cookies…or a marshmallow that’s been toasted in a campfire?
At least you get Samoas and not Caramel Delites, which are vastly inferior. I didn’t realize they varied my region until I moved into an area that had completely different names for all of their cookies.
[1]:
@LaVikinga@RiotDemon haaaa I don’t have any self control when it comes to sweets…so I just don’t buy them. You can tell when my hubby takes the kids shopping!!! Alllll sorts of scrumptious goodies come home.
@Einherjar13 All this time I thought there was more of an East-West dividing line on which bakery provided the GS troops with their cookies. @mikibell I try not to buy them as well, but when they haul the things to the darned front door, sometimes you have to take it as a sign from the Universe. @compunaut Sounds like someone ought to have a Cookie Taste-off!
@Fuzzalini@LaVikinga@mikibell@RiotDemon The best Samoas knockoffs I’ve found have actually been the Clover Valley cookies from Dollar General. They won a head to head taste test against the keebler ones a few years back. They taste 98% as good as Samoas, with the biggest difference being that the cookie is slightly softer/less crisp.
/giphy Death by Chocolate
Same goes for the Pecan Sandies, and Nabisco Nutter Butter Creme Patties.
@LaVikinga I’m with you on the Nutter Butter squares, but I prefer the Sandies without nuts.
@LaVikinga @ruouttaurmind and why aren’t the Nutty Buddy creme so expensive (>$4 here) and NEVER on sale like the lame sandwich cookies
@LaVikinga @llangley Right? RIGHT? There’s no reason the cremes should be so expensive. At Safeway here they’re $5.29. But then there’s no reason a Hermes bag should be $10,000 either.

@ruouttaurmind LOL! That was my lunch for my Sophomore year, except I had a diet coke instead of the milk. Had to watch those calories, you know.
Stay out of the DollarTree! Not only do they carry Cheese Doodlez, but a knock-off Nutty Bar that’ll do in a pinch.
@LaVikinga Walmart’s GV nutty bars are tolerable as well.
DollarTree you say…
And girl scout cookies…wholesale, all included in the classification!

@LaVikinga @mikibell I buy the knockoffs from keebler, which aren’t really knockoffs since they actually bake their cookies.
Publix makes fudge mint cookies are square and taste how I remember thin mints used to taste.

Low carb for life sometimes has its drawbacks.
@LaVikinga @RiotDemon they also make samoas like cookies! I don’t buy any of them! I would be as big as a house if I did!!
@LaVikinga marshmallow might be interesting! @mikibell everything in moderation?
@LaVikinga ![girl scout cookie map][1]

@LaVikinga @mikibell @RiotDemon The Aldi thin mints rip-off cookies are also excellent. And less than $2 a box.
@LaVikinga @RiotDemon haaaa I don’t have any self control when it comes to sweets…so I just don’t buy them. You can tell when my hubby takes the kids shopping!!! Alllll sorts of scrumptious goodies come home.
@Einherjar13 @LaVikinga @f00l
OMG. Dallas & Ft Worth have different GS cookie bakers!
@LaVikinga that is when I buy thin mints and give them to my still growing children!!
@compunaut @Einherjar13 @LaVikinga @mikibell and then there are these…
@compunaut @Einherjar13 @llangley @mikibell Talk about opening a Pandora’s Box of trouble. Oh, my!
@compunaut @Einherjar13 @LaVikinga
Do we get the good stuff W of 360?
Usually I purchase in FW, but this year I bought from a kid I know in Dallas.
My order was mostly Thin Mints anyway.
Something happened to the cookies. They just kinda disappeared.
@compunaut @Einherjar13 @LaVikinga @mikibell Someone did!!

@compunaut @Einherjar13 @LaVikinga @llangley hahah girl scout cookies are always a contentious topic
THESE were the best.
@f00l Yes. Super good as is the similar Zebra corn from that company that sells them in the cone.

What about Chips ahoy? And stop calling me chunky.
@OnionSoup Damnthings are worse than crack.
There was a coupon in today’s paper for Thin Chips Ahoy dipped in fudge. Hours later, the bag sits on the table … beckoning me .
Well shit. I just read this thread and now I need a snack.
And not a healthy snack…
@shahnm what’s the tl;dr, i skipped to hear
/image skipped to here
/youtube skipped to hear
/8ball “skip to hear?”
Signs point to yes
@Yoda_Daenerys Lots of yummy unhealthy cookies.
Maybe this will help curb appetites.
@blaineg That made me look for images. Found this:
