If this is my choice I’m going with the Muppets, I watch it every year. But the best one ever is the Alastair Sim version. The ghost of Christmas future always scared me.
I mostly agree with the ratings here of the movies listed [of those that I’ve seen- which is all but the Reggie Owens version], although the Scott version is definitely better than the Muppet version, although that is also a classic.
The Albert Finney musical version is, in my opinion both the best performance of Scrooge and the most entertaining due to the great music. If you haven’t seen it, search it out.
This one is pretty tough.
I’m going Muppet Christmas Carol. Both are great, but I have a soft spot for Muppets anything.

@sammydog01 Oh yeah, I remember that one. I love the spin that each remake has on it.
The original 1938 version
@Cerridwyn You mean the 11th version on film?
@yakkoTDI
11th??
@Cerridwyn @yakkoTDI Reginald Owen was great too but I’m sticking with Sim.
@Cerridwyn @yakkoTDI Math checks out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adaptations_of_A_Christmas_Carol#Live_action_films
I liked the Bill Murray quasi-adaptation, but I think I prefer the Muppet one because of the fall-into-pit ending of Scrooged.
I quite like the George C Scott version from the 80’s.
Though I just found a Blackadders version that I’m going to have to watch
@ybmuG I also like the George C Scott version.
@ybmuG wait there’s a what now???
@brainmist Can be rented from the zon. Or there’s a terrible quality copy on Dailymotion.

Muppets. Easy.
Muppets, always the Muppets!!!
I haven’t seen either, but I’m going with Muppets. Muppets is always the answer, unless of course bacon is an option.
Of these two I will go with the Bill Murray version.
I also happen to like the version with Henry Winkler as Benedict Slade the Scrooge character.
Martin Short (w/Steve Martin)
It’s been so long since I’ve seen any of these … can’t remember.
I do remember a chilling ghost of Christmas future and one of the animated versions but I don’t remember now which version it was
Here’s a guide to some of the animated versions

It’s hard for me to imagine going wrong with one from Looney Tunes
These are my two favorite Scrooges. But I’ll pick Michael Caine as his super serious Scrooge works so well with the goofy Muppets.

My pasted url disappeared!!

Then my edit window timed out while looking at this listing:
https://collider.com/a-christmas-carol-adaptations-ranked/
Which is a more comprehensive listing and includes more of the classics, the listings of which, again I cannot really argue with.
Not sure how the Guy Pierce mini-series wasn’t “first” as being worst - that was pure SJW garbage.
The synopsis seems to gave glossed over the part where he’s a serial rapist.
Guy Pierce was either woefully desperate for cash, or didn’t read the script.
Of these two, absolutely The Muppets.
Muppets!
Scrooged. Not a Muppet fan
Has to be Muppets because Miss.Piggy is sexy.
@OnionSoup Why can’t Miss Piggy count to 100?
@yakkoTDI
@OnionSoup Because every time she gets to 69 she gets a frog in her throat.
Definitely “Scrooged” for a comedic Scrooge. Sure, Bill Murray is a major AH but he has the right mix of malice and humor for that role.
But my nostalgic favorite for serious Scrooge is George C. Scott.

@squishybrain Yes!!! Scrooge is the best version of A Christmas Carol. The music is sooo good. Thank you very much!
@jlandberg I like life!
Life likes me!
Life and I fairly fully agree!
Bill Murray for the win.
