@MEHcus I feel safe going there after today also... They are having a sanitation class/how to not kill your customers.
@MEHcus @sohmageek I haven't been worried during the entire "crisis." My Chipotle is exceptional. Thanks for the headsup on the coupon.
@sohmageek We had zero e coli cases in our state. Bring on the burrito!
@sammydog01 The problem is norovirus. They can fix e coli problem. They won't fix the problem where you've got a sick worker preparing your food.
@Kevin that problem isn't limited to Chipotle, nor even to "quick serve" restaurants
Thanks! The real question now is which goat should I unblame this on?
@narfcake Me, obviously!
I love me some free Chipotle!
Jack in the Box is also giving away free burgers

@stardate820926 That is one place I'm glad Vermont doesn't have... Although, you should have seen the face the woman working there gave me when I asked for duck sauce for my eggroll.... I'm not sure what she thought duck sauce was... but... Pretty funny. AND NO, SWEET AND SOUR IS NOT DUCK...
@sohmageek I love Jack in the Box, especially their tacos.
@conandlibrarian There should be a special name for what JITB calls tacos. I'm pretty sure every (public) school (in working class communities) I ever attended even did tacos better than that shit.
I kinda miss the Sourdough Jack though--recognizing that it's horrible food.
@joelmw I never said it was good...just that it's free.
Free Chipotle. Sure. Can I have a side order of packaged greens from Mexico and follow up with some Blue Bell ice cream?
Done!
It's good to see a company like Chipotle taking a firm stand and properly training employees on how to not poison customers.
@Moose The problem is the culture of the food industry. Workers will work even when they are sick . They are paid hourly, so if they don't work they don't get paid -- and they are seen as unreliable.
I got real snarky with them back in December, and they replied to me...
@Moose There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything.
If nothing else, you have to appreciate their ability. They were great at poisoning people when they did it.
@Kevin I used to work fast food. Many times people work sick because they have no choice. The companies require a doctor's note, these can cost more than they would have made working. There is also the threat of come in or be fired. It's a no win situation.
@cahuston I totally agree. For Chipotle to get out of the mess they are in, they need to change the culture by investing in their workforce. I love chipotles food, they set a new standard but they aren't living up to it anymore.
good old chipotle caring about their customers out of the goodness of their hearts
awesome, thanks!
Got one!! I work about 5 miles from where all this craziness started. Wish me luck!
Got It. Not a huge Chipolte fan, but i will take a free burrito anytime. Thanks @Sohmageek!
I don't care for e.coli or whatever their flavor of the month is.
@melwin but this is free coli, the best kind of coli!
@Lotsofgoats
Chipotle's customer service rules!
Chipotle: Darn, you just missed it. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
@rileyper Curse you, @Lotsofgoats!
ME TOOO I BLAME THE GOAT
@rileyper @sp3ar hi guys I think you wanted @Ellipse, no big deal I'll just forward your call beep boop
Sorry, I must have been pre-goating...
I stopped going to Chipotle long before the E-coli outbreak because:
The people who worked the line acted like they lost the will to live.
I could never figure out why the steak was always served ice cold.
If I ordered from their website/app the food was never ready when I arrived.
Just one look at how dirty the kitchen looked while waiting in line was enough to convince me that eating there wasn't a good idea.
No Chipoodle for me, thanks. I prefer hot dogs.
@Kevin @Chops @melwin @mehgrl I'll acknowledge that I've been to some Chipotles that didn't inspire confidence. In one case we turned around and walked out the door before ordering, we were that unimpressed. I also know that many of the problems pointed out here are endemic to the food service industry, as @WTFhqwhgads astutely observed.
We should all acknowledge a cultural and broadly systemic tendency to undervalue and underpay precisely those who, for instance, are tasked with handling our food, caring for us when we're sick and as we age, educating our children. We underpay them, we mock them, we blame them for our problems and then after we've handed them our shit, we expect them to have great attitudes and fix all of our problems. Meanwhile we sanction the grotesque overpayment and dictatorial empowerment of folks further up the chain, the ones reaping the profits but not doing much of the work (at least not in proportion to the benefit they receive). Verily we praise and canonize and bribe and entitle these wielders of capital while we encourage them to shit upon labor.
Anyway, what I really came here to say (that last paragraph was a freebie; you're welcome) is that MY Chipotle kicks ass. The management is amazing. Almost everyone (certainly everyone on the serving line and at the cash register) is friendly and enthusiastic. They seem motivated and committed to doing what they do as well as they can. Good local management makes all of the difference.
As a result of their excellent service, positive attitudes and attention to detail, I'm usually there at least once a week (it's gotten so that it's our default for Mondays); often I eat there two or three times a week; I once went four times in a single week (there are are at least five meat options and other ways to mix things up).
Honestly, I don't think I've been more impressed with another restaurant, certainly not another fast food joint, but not even far more expensive restaurants.
So talk what shit you will, I'm happy to speak in defense of my local Chipotle. You should check it out (especially during the week). Hell, come down here on a weekday and I might even let you buy me lunch.

@joelmw I no longer live in Dallas, but this was the best Chipotle i've ever eaten at....

DFW is good for Chipotle
The beef I have with Chipotle is that they meat (hah) a high standard standard when it comes to food -- but they don't hold their employees to that same high standard. To do that, they need to hire employees with integrity and take care of them.
I can't start to tell you how important it is to have 2 or 3 people with integrity on your team. Everyone else feeds off of it, and raises moral and productivity.
That's why they are being raked over the coals.
@Kevin I think I agree with all of that. So, yeah.
@joelmw tl;dr - Yeah, you'll probably get E. Coli if you eat there, but it's totally worth it.
Me and my free burrito coupon couldn't agree more.
I actually did get really sick from eating there, but I figure if Jack in the Box is any indication, they'll probably be safer now than ever.
ETA: At least that's what I'm telling myself, because I like burritos.
