Well, I wrote a long response to that and lost it when someone called.
Anyhow, I totally agree and appreciate the thought that certain authors put into their craft of entertaining while educating our youth.
And love looking back at these shows now, understanding the fact that these adults somehow figured how to tap back into their own youthful minds of olde, and taking their skills to make those precious years as enjoyable as they can be.

Another author I think is so under appreciated would be Dr. Seuss. For anyone that has not seen the live action movie The Cat in the Hat or the Lorax, you’re missing out.
@djslack@lysdexia I can’t stand Dr. Seuss. Even as a child, I never understood why everyone else liked his books. Later, I read about him as a human being, and he sounds like a total asshole. Among other things, he actually hated children. I guess he liked their parents’ money enough, though.
I mean, not that disliking kids is in itself bad. But when he left his first wife for the woman he was fucking, he made her ship her kids off to boarding school so he wouldn’t have to be near them.
I concede I don’t have the knowledge regarding this man’s history. I’m sure it’s public knowledge, and I agree if true (and I have no reason to believe it’s not), that he may be considered a vile human.
I do however believe his works merit their own opinion. As with all authors of any art medium.

I’ve put off seeing the Happytime Murders movie until today, when I can go with a friend that won’t judge it on merit but simple humour.
I have low hopes going in, but high hopes in having a good time. Will report my assessment, and my thoughts on how Mr. Henson would have done things to improve (imo of course.)
