Thanks @sohmageek - Caught me in a weak moment and I bought this. Took a while to answer the questions, and I have no idea if it was a smart or stupid thing to do. Somehow they now know I'm a weirdo.

@sohmageek I opted out of the survey this year. Last year one of the questions was "Would you rather have sex with a Panda or Dolphin?".

For my thinking, why does it have to be "or".

@djslack I started researching this morning to find out what to expect. Apparently in the past, the whole thing has been a puzzle. A really really hard one. There were a bunch of reddit threads about it, people were speculating what the Hebrew text in the offer and the confirmation means. They said to keep every little email and every part of everything you receive.
I'm sure others with experience can tell us more.

@djslack @KDemo Last year the puzzle was ridiculously hard. Anything and everything could be and is a clue. The Reddit hive mind solved it faster than I could keep up with it. There were lots of spreadsheets and documents and google docs was heavily utilized. It was almost impossible to jump in half way through because someone was always ten steps ahead of you.
The ultimate goal (which was unknown until the Hawaii 2 information was revealed) was to discover the combination to a safe that was brought over (by the CAH staff) to Hawaii 2. Once the combination was uncovered, a few brave souls opened the safe and found thousands and thousands of sloth cards.
Someone did a write up of the whole thing here. It was fun following the whole event, even though I was horribly lost throughout most of it.

@KDemo I am with you.. kinda wishing I didn't order.. I just like random things arriving in the mail. I don't want to think!!!

@mikibell You don't have to participate in the puzzle if you don't want. Each gift last year could stand alone and you would never know there was anything else going on.

@Willijs3 oh phew... Thank you!! I will probably follow along, but December is utter chaos in our house. With Charity events, Birthdays, Christmas and everything school related, I thought I had just signed up for more :) (Poor planning on my part for having kids with Dec/Jan birthdays!!) Oh and year end stuff at work -- can you see where my priority is?

@KDemo She planted the flag that came with her deed. Posed for pictures, then unplanted her flag.

The gps in her phone is not accurate down to a foot. So she really just chose a photogenic spot within 15 feet of her square foot.

@hamjudo Wow, cool! Being in New England, I have thought several times about going up to the island, but was not sure if the locals would be happy about the intrusion or not. I am wondering if there is a place to launch a boat, or if your daughter hired one? Was there evidence of other people visiting? Sounds like a great excursion to plan next summer!

@hallmike the time people put into that puzzle was silly. I checked the reddit on it just to see what was happening and couldn't believe how much work it was and then how contentious the endgame was.

@Foxborn did you read the FAQ? ... don't be surprised to get a couple on the same day, or out of order. This happened to me last year. This is the postal service we're relying on... also, I think they purposely put in a couple day lag between 3&4 to build up the sock/no sock suspense before dropping some no-socks on us.

@sohmageek yeah, they'll either give us all the remaining socks at some point or the final prize will have either one set of the missing socks (so only one complete set exists) or has a vault of all of the missing socks, similar to the sloth cards.

@Foxborn Mine arrived yesterday. I felt like a sap because the letter from China and the photographs made me sniffle. Youngest child tried to rain on the parade by suggesting the thank you notes came "after much tears and incentive with big stick ."
