@chienfou I don’t really follow a recipe for crepes- just a mix and feel thing. That’s how my mum taught me when I was small and how I’ve been making them my whole life. I know how the batter should look/feel like.
Yep… Definitely crêpe day. Savory with sauteed mushrooms and onions with grated gruyere cheese, the other half were done for sweet with a little bit of rum and extra sugar added to the batter before I cooked them.
This one is strawberry with whipped cream, powdered sugar and chocolate drizzle.
@chienfou I didn’t do savoury this year, I usually do a mushroom crepe too.
I probably made about 25 of them. We only ate half. Did half chocolate batter and half plain crepes… Then had strawberries, blueberries, banana, whipped cream and Nutella available for everyone to make their own.
Traditionally do lemon juice and sugar ones too but didn’t this year.

Sounds super yummy. My wife has been super picky about her diet lately (for health reasons) so I’ve been trying to be a little more restrained in my baking of large things lately. I still have a couple of babies floating around here from prior cakes.

BTW… Sorry about the trigger for all you photo-sensitivity based seizure types…
Pancake day for me! (Crepes) Making them now (passing time letting batter sit)

Julia Childs recipe?

Only mention that because the Julie Childs recipe specifically talks about resting. I know what you mean about winging it tho.

Mom was from northern France and her go-to was butter and brown sugar… a rather “coals to Newcastle” combination!
@chienfou ooh… I’ll have to try with brown sugar… haven’t had breakfast yet, been working, and there’s some left over.

OK… time to get serious.
It’s Ash Wednesday after all
