There are two kinds of candy corn. There’s the good kind, Brach’s Classic Candy Corn, and then everyone else. Brach’s is the only candy corn that tastes good. I can understand why so many people hate candy corn, because if you buy the generic crap, it’s puke-alicious.
@ircon96@pakopako Did ChatGPT give you that information because it’s way off base. Fondant doesn’t have shellac in it. Some bakers spray shellac ON fondant to make it shiny and last longer, but it is not an ingredient to make it.
Do you guys do any research or do you blindly trust what you read on the internet?
@ircon96@Willijs3 I don’t usually see fondant without a glaze (well, not any that were supposed to stand upright) so I have strong association between the two.
You are definitely correct about there only being one edible brand of Candy Corn. Back in the 80’s I worked for a corporation called American Home Products. We produced everything from some of the nations best pharmaceuticals all the way to products like Brachs, Easy Off oven cleaner, Ocedar brooms etc. They took great pride in everything they produced. In the mid 80’s they decided to focus on pharmaceuticals and divested several of the house hold brands. One thing stayed the same. Brachs. The candy was awesome. We even had these big display stands with multiple trays that let you “pik a mix” of those like the old candy store days!

My son is also a pumpkin fan. Bought a couple of bags to mail to him next week. As for me I’m fine with candy corn, pumpkins, autumn mix etc. Mellocreme is fine.

@Willijs3 Yeah, there’s a huge quality gulf between brands. Brach’s having actual honey in it seems to make a big difference.
@brennyn @Willijs3 Yes, honey-flavored wax is definitely the way to go!

@ircon96 Where’s the wax?
@ircon96 @Willijs3 shellac (add flour and make fondant)

@ircon96 @pakopako @Willijs3 Shellac comes from bugs.

@pakopako @Willijs3 @yakkoTDI It was less an ingredient thing and more a texture thing. And now it’s a bug thing… Thanks, Yak!

Only if it’s all congealed together into one big block and shipped alongside a few loose blades and a speaker dock.
@Weboh scribbles notes
@Weboh And a hammer.
Just bought my first bag of the season last night! I just need about 10 pieces a day though and I’m good
