Fun pandemic story! At the start of the lockdowns and all of us taking our happy little software dev asses home our boss requested for cameras facing our work areas. He said if we had a health emergency while working it would help him assess the situation to provide aid more quickly.
That was a big fat and hard NO from absolutely everyone.
@show_the_maw That is so ridiculous… Health emergency my Ass… I have heard though that many that worked from home were what they termed “Over-Employed” in other words, they were doing more than one job from home… wow
@show_the_maw Kudos to your co-workers for rejecting the camera invasion. Did anyone suggest using a floor level camera? A camera aimed to show only 3-4 inches (8-10cm) above the floor will show someone laying on the floor having a health emergency, otherwise, the spies see only feet at most.
Don’t do it! I have a Canary camara and they have recently taken away all the free features exempt maybe one feature. You will not be able to properly use the Camara without getting the $9.99 a month plan. There is no SD card. The cloud is on their servers and without the paid membership plan, you will not be able to access your files.
@tonye33 this and these were the slowest cameras I’ve owned for accessing live view or clips, live view often just failing completely when attempting to access remotely. Owned 6 and 2 were working after 2 years.

I don’t live in a coal mine!
Does it have SD card, or cloud storage?
@DevinS PAID cloud storage. No integration with anything (despite promising HomeKit integration in the Kickstarter, it never happened).

@show_the_maw I would put it zoomed into the cat box. He can asses the cat ass
@bugger there’s was multiple times my then first grader just didn’t feel like wearing any clothes at all. How many lists could I put him on…

Subscription to see recordings = No Bueno
@bugger The word “app” in specs = No
Nailed me!
Does anyone know if this camera can detect motion?
@awk From the Department of Repetitive Redundancy?
@awk Drax invisible. Got it.
@awk It’s hard to tell from the description. You need to do more research.
That’s not a Canary. It’s a bookend. And that’s the purpose it would serve in my home.
@psantora While a very informative video it is not as funny as his pandemic dildo video.
@yakkoTDI this one?
@psantora Yes.
I remember seeing Ben Folds. Not on a security camera, in person. Good show.
@sligett Saw Ben Folds with the local philharmonic orchestra - a gift from my son, who Still Fighting It is about. Wonderful.
@Jonas4321 @sligett Still fighting it is about your son?
@sligett @zachhh all songs are about someone you know.
@Jonas4321 @sligett I actually know a few people that Ben wrote somgs about. I’m in NC.

@tonye33 good info

@markschristophe I’ll send you some blink cameras and you can have a shitiest contest.
Weird that Meh would quote $59 at Amazon when the actual Amazon price is $84.
Regardless, the requirement for a paid subscription to view any history makes this a HARD PASS.
LMK when they’re 3/$10 and I might try to find a reason to buy.
@richrauch Local video saving and viewing (e.g. RTSP) would be another requirement. Otherwise, why pay meh! to send out their boxes of e-waste?
@richrauch Good spot – Prime members will see a $59 price, otherwise $83.95
No SD card. only storage $10/month. pass
Without a RTSP connection, completely useless.
Hard pass on this one. meh! failed to mention that Canary provides no features until their $10/month subscription is activated.
