@Kyeh yep, I agree. I was at a trade school. One nite after I went to sleep, Someone pulled a fire alarm, I heard about it the next morning. It was NOT for a fire, PTL! As I said I did not know about it till the next morning & everyone was talking about it in the Men’s dorms.
Hey when I crash for the Nite I am out. the only thing that might wake me up is a Call of nature. or maybe the Cat. Since I have been care giver I don’t have to get up any certain time.
@Kyeh@mycya4me
I’ve slept through the smoke alarm at my house a couple of times, it’s really bad. I used to work in psychiatric hospital and we would have random fire drills so often I blocked them out, I guess I still do.
@Kyeh Well it was Grave Yard shift, I was with my Dad he was operating the crane. I was his “Olier” So when there was Nothing to do, Dad said you can lay back there on the pad. No one knew. but Dad. that Job did not last long. I was with Dad & that is what counted. OMG that had to be over 40 years ago!
Never very well if at all. But haven’t done any long flights in a very long time. Might do one this Winter so I’ll see.
Worked with a guy who was our international sales manager and he could sleep anywhere at anytime. He said he couldn’t imagine doing his schedule without being able to do that.
One of my first flights was from Norita, Japan to Singapore. I think it was about 17 hours. I never thought I could sleep on a plane because I don’t sleep well at the best of times. However I put on the neck pillow and the next thing I know the attendant is waking me to put my seatbelt on because we’re coming into turbulence. And like she’d never been there I was out like a light again. My next waking memory was crap flying all over inside the plane. I had no idea turbulence could be like that. After I suddenly realized my throat was as dry as Death Valley. Fortunately for me the thoughtful attendant had shoved a bottle of water into the back of the seat in front of me. Quite an experience.
I sometimes sleep on flights of stairs when there are too many and I crap out before I make it to Heaven. Worse, I sometimes roll all the way back down, then have to restart the Journey.
@moonhat yes and no. There was a trip to the UK once where I fell asleep on the train. Purse was right there w my luggage. Woke up when the PA went off in a panic. Omg wheres my purse (w my passport), luggage, etc. Then oh shit, where am I. Did I miss my stop?!?!?!?!
Abd, no I didnt and everything was there. Nice old lady sitting across for me was looking out for my well being
Only been on 7 commercial flights on two trips. Transfers. They weren’t that long on the legs so who knows. And 4 of those I was doing college work on my laptop so… No idea. I don’t have much reason to fly.
I have been known to fall asleep anywhere. Even next to a dreg crane engine.
@mycya4me Well, that’s a little scary!

@mycya4me So why were you sleeping next to a dredge crane engine?
@Kyeh @mycya4me

@mycya4me @Star2236 Oh no! I hope your boyfriend wakes up, and wakes you up.
@Kyeh @Star2236 Yep that is not good. I guess my Cat would have to wake me up or the alarm system.

@mycya4me @Star2236 I did read a news story about a cat who woke up her family when they had a carbon monoxide leak, and saved them!
@Kyeh @Star2236 That’s great. I hope does too. But I have a Fire alarm very near the Bed!
@mycya4me @Star2236 So the fire alarm can wake up your cat, and she can wake you up.
@Kyeh @Star2236 Plus the Alarm is connected to the Alarm system, they would also call me. No answer they Auto send help. No questions!
@mycya4me @Star2236 Oh, that’s good.
I saw in the other thread that your cat’s name is Thor - so I guess it’s a he?

I usually fall asleep when the plane is coming in for a landing.

If alcohol is involved, there’s definitely some nodding off. Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I don’t. Depends on time of day.

@phendrick Perhaps there is a big rock involved?
@phendrick Maybe the falling asleep is a sign you are going the wrong way.
Close my eyes and crank up the Sansa through my old school Bose QC1’s!
I close my eyes and relax, sleep follows…
Earplugs. Blocking out the ambient sound works really well.
I could sleep better on aircraft if the seats were designed for passengers instead of profit, but I can sleep none the less.
As long as I can close my eyes for 2-4 minutes I’m out. Doesn’t matter where I am.
@tinamarie1974 you are so lucky!!

I haven’t been on a plane since 2000. I can only imagine how much smaller things are in coach/economy without the doors flying off.
