I have yet to get a Fuku bag. I try to sit up and wait but midnight is so hard to get to. And by the looks of you map California bought majority of the Fuku's. It breaks my heart.
@MzCheez I assume you're on the east coast. Me too. And I got my third Fuku in a row. Do what I do: go to bed, set an alarm, look, then go back to bed. You're other option is to move to another coast. That would be easier for Meh, probably.
Meh can be rough on East Coasters. However, like most things in life, we have to simply deal with it. I have written off getting any more fukus ever again (unless I'm lucky during a Mehrathon/Ambivalanche). I accept the trade-off between good sleep and getting a fuku or other items I might want but sell out. Life isn't fair, neither are daily deal sites. Life won't end because of it. Also, it might be worth noting that a lot of these fukus could just as easily be going to South Korea through a domestic carrier: it is 1pm there when it is midnight eastern time.
TL;DR--Blame South Korea, not the west coast. Also you and I still aren't getting a fuku if we like sleep. Life goes on.
@narfcake Even if new deals were posted at noon instead of midnight, I'm pretty sure California would still buy most of whatever crap was available just for this reason.
I don't remember anyone complaining THIS much about woot and it was hour later! At noon, I'm always doing real life stuff and not necessarily able to watch for the change-over. 11pm my time should be prime for me, but snuggling with my daughter put me to sleep early 2 nights ago.
Additionally, if you think it's difficult scoring one in the middle of the night, you'll have no chance when everybody is alert, awake, and possibly at their work computers in the middle of the day!
@MzCheez Ignore @carl669, we've actually decided that to be as fair as possible and to accommodate everyone with this continuing and overwhelming concern, that we're now going to split each day's inventory into 4 equal parts for the US - each time zone (for the contiguous United States - we ship only to the "lower 48") will now have their own URL to access the site for purchasing.
Additionally, we're moving the time the product on the site changes to 8:00PM (your local time, wherever you are). Billing and shipping addresses MUST BOTH match the State in the time zone specific site you purchase from - for instance, you will not be able to purchase from the central time zone specific site with a billing or shipping address in the eastern time zone, etc. - a formal announcement of this change will be forthcoming.
I'm giving you advance notice of this change. Check east.meh.com at 8:00PM tomorrow, July 11th for your time zone specific offering. We hope this change will be embraced by the community over the coming weeks. After much discussion, this was as equitable a solution as we could formulate.
@MzCheez I've just been informed of a slight change which will also be outlined in the formal announcement - the "start time" will vary by one hour each day (moving backwards) in each time zone to be fair to all shift workers. So, on the 11th it will be 8:00PM, on the 12th, 7:00PM, and so on - so technically each sale will be 23 hours so we can get more product through the pipeline and still stay true to "one deal a day". You'll get a schedule emailed to you monthly with a calendar overview of the start times for that month and a daily reminder email also, along with secret links for fukubukuro and other exciting news from Meh. We are still working on a fix for daylight savings and leap years. Stay tuned!
@MzCheez My mistake and apologies - that should read "daylight saving" - I added the "s" as it is colloquially referred to as "savings" but it is technically "saving" time. Also - the fix for leap year has been decided. Since that "day" is not a normal day and comes but once every four years, we've decided to not offer any product on that day and simply ignore it, as it throws off our accounting software. More soon!
@MzCheez Well - this last decision was fast - we'll make no adjustment for daylight saving changes. We'll make that announcement this fall when we're closer to the change taking effect. BTW - for your posting being the impetus to finally make changes in these matters, we've decided to award you a special prize. Check your mailbox in the coming days for your special envelope.
@MzCheez I've just been informed that all these changes are now on hold pending a community wide voting process. All 3 million plus account holders here at Meh must unanimously agree to these changes - we'll keep you updated on the voting process. In the mean time, the site will remain as is and no changes will be forthcoming. The voting process should end sometime in 2017 (best estimate) as we'll have to confirm all abandoned accounts, etc.. - Stay tuned to this thread for further updates.
@MzCheez Well - the voting has ended. The first vote was "no". Therefore, the changes cannot be implemented as the remainder of the voting will not be unanimously "for" the proposed modifications (obviously). The site will remain as is in perpetuity. Thank you for you time and sharing your concerns. I will now direct you to my original answer to your original question.
@MzCheez Please ignore the above statements made by Mr. @Pavlov. A roof fell on his head and he now thinks he's Matt Rutledge (@snapster). "Come now, Mr. @Pavlov, you've had quite an adventure today and it's time for dinner. We'll have the doctor adjust those pain meds in the morning. Maybe then you'll feel more like your old self."
@Pavlov I concur. Your answer was way better. For about 14 words, I thought, "well shit, this complicates things"... I was duped. Can I file a complaint as well? Perhaps start a new thread to discuss my dissatisfaction? Hey, I have an idea... Maybe you should be the goat and then we could blame you for everything. That would be original, right?
@bakeyoural Cool that my answer reeled you in . . . I'm betting as soon as I am well enough, I'm goated again . . . @MrsPavlov is actually going through things now for the fuku contests I'll have just in case I'm re-elected.
@Pavlov "Just in case" - you know everyone just sort of paused your goat month. I'm pretty sure you'll get a 2nd chance at it, so long as you don't try to take yourself out of office again.
@Thumperchick I'll be taking it easy for awhile . . . And in this particular instance when I tell a beautiful woman such as yourself to "trust me", you really can. So . . . Trust me, I've more than had my fill of adventure, for quite some time.
@MzCheez If you bother to take into account population at all, you see that the map makes a lot of sense. California has more than 10 million more people than any other state. It would make sense for California to have the most sales since it has the most people. The next darkest states on the night of the fuku were Texas and New York, which are the second and third most populous states and neither are on the west coast. If a state has more people they have a better chance at more purchases, regardless of location.
If you really want something to complain about, the real anomaly on the map, on the fuku night, is Colorado. Being only the 22nd most populous state and having as many sales as the 4th,5th,6th, 7th, and 8th most populous state, even with half the population of most of them. Clearly this mean smoking weed gives you some advantage to getting a fuku.
@metaphore My husband and I usually each get one as one alerts the other when they see it. We then alert the rest of the Colorado Meh'ers..like a family of meerkats.
@metaphore I'm one of the Coloradans who got a Fuku! I set my alarm to 9:57 pm and refreshed my login just in time to get it. @MzCheez, just set an alarm like the rest of us.
I haven't been active in the Meh forums for a few months. Have you guys been fighting about this shit the whole time I was gone? I thought it was settled.
Meh things come to those who wait...for midnight. Maybe this has already been noted: the so-called ‘inconvenient’ hour is part of the experience, and changing the time to be more convenient would attract more users – i.e., change the dynamic, water it down, bland it up. (If I wanted that experience, I could just visit woot!)
@MzCheez I assume you're on the east coast. Me too. And I got my third Fuku in a row. Do what I do: go to bed, set an alarm, look, then go back to bed. You're other option is to move to another coast. That would be easier for Meh, probably.
@ACraigL I'm also on the east coast. Then again, I have a job that I rarely need to be at until 10-11am, so... yup. I like midnight!
We all talked about it...aaaaannnnnnddd how about no.
@studerc Well, they could . . .
@MzCheez You are breaking my heart.

@dis_member Actually, it's fair to blame California. It's the most populous state.

@Thumperchick Poor Patrick!
@boc He got what was coming to him. He knows what he did.
@Thumperchick Beating a dead starfish? Is this like a sex reference?
@ABitterWoman It can be.
You could move to Hawaii and grab them right before dinner!
@DaveInSoCal Don't they only ship to the lower 48?
@narfcake Do what the Koreans do.
@narfcake Don't bother me with details. I'm a big-picture kind of guy.
I don't remember anyone complaining THIS much about woot and it was hour later! At noon, I'm always doing real life stuff and not necessarily able to watch for the change-over. 11pm my time should be prime for me, but snuggling with my daughter put me to sleep early 2 nights ago.

@medz I remember, you may have been late to woot.
@medz true... Just thought I'd ask
@MzCheez No.
@Pavlov Precisely.
@MzCheez done. see you at noon tomorrow. (ignore @Pavlov)

"Come now, Mr. @Pavlov, you've had quite an adventure today and it's time for dinner. We'll have the doctor adjust those pain meds in the morning. Maybe then you'll feel more like your old self."
@Barney My answer was better - and more fun. Damn, I love these painkillers. Love ya!
@Pavlov So good to have you back with us. Say hi to @MrsPavlov for me.
@Barney Will do - they may be letting me out of here soon - will be nice to be in my own bed.
@Pavlov Oh, hey, that's great news! Yay!!
@Pavlov Your answer was like a damn TwistaPlot!
"To vote on changing Meh's hours, turn to page 88." "To stay and fight the dragon, turn to page 34."
@Pavlov I concur. Your answer was way better. For about 14 words, I thought, "well shit, this complicates things"... I was duped. Can I file a complaint as well? @pepsiwine You have to begin the fight on page 33, if you skip to page 34 you're toast, every time.
@Pavlov "Just in case" - you know everyone just sort of paused your goat month. I'm pretty sure you'll get a 2nd chance at it, so long as you don't try to take yourself out of office again.

Hilaribloomingous!
(Edit: I mean the comments, not the request.)
@YahSah15 "Hilaribloomingous" in a Google search brings up only this page.... well played.
Only the good deals drop at night, noon sales are for the
sheeplenormal people.How about midnight UTC? Gives us east coasters a better chance (8 PM until Daylight Savings ends, then 7 PM) and everyone else still has a great shot.
@MzCheez - Bet that's the last time you think "it can't hurt to ask".
@KDemo hahahahahahaha all the comments make it worth while
I haven't been active in the Meh forums for a few months. Have you guys been fighting about this shit the whole time I was gone? I thought it was settled.
@christinerenee Nah, this argument is like a bad penny. It comes up, we banish it, it's gone for a while, then someone drags it back in.
@christinerenee its like MEH STDs', just when you think they are gone, they keep coming back
Yes. Of course I can. Each of us is free to choose what time we visit meh.
Is there a way for me to "star" this whole conversation? It's too good. And blame @Pavlov for something, finally?
@sligett still blaming @Starblind this month, but @Pavlovs day will come again soon!
@sligett right next to the header/title
or maybe left
°_o
@nadroj Oh, right, of course. I guess I was at the bottom when I thought of it. This is pretty nice (I mean meh) discussion software.
Meh things come to those who wait...for midnight. @MzCheez why is your time more important that anyone else's time?
there are 25+ time zones,there is no time that is going to be perfect for everyone.
