Atkins, schmatkins. Seefood diet here--as long as it's gluten-free. And a lot of shit is. A lot of unhealthy shit is. And yet I feel the need to make up for all of the gluteny stuff that I can't eat. I don't think I have to tell you how that's working.
I was actually just thinking about this as I prepared my lunch (nitrate-free, organic, etc. sausage; fresh, raw organic zucchini; fresh, raw, organic cucumber). When we went paleo (and we still sorta mostly are), I told the wife, "Just make sure that I have plenty of good food to eat and I'll be fine, 'cause I'm gonna eat." I'll eat the good stuff, but if it's not readily available, I'll eat whatever is. Yeah, but my cube neighbor has the local candy dish. Halloween. So I chased my healthy food with some chocolate. Just because.
@joelmw Not to worry. Chocolate is also known as Vitamin M&N which is clearly necessary to your health, wellbeing and future happiness.
Some years ago I'd fill a water bottle full of them. While paddling across FL (route was St. Mary's river, Okefenokee Swamp, Swanee river) I had perfected eating them out of the bottle, while paddling, with an adjudicated youth in the bow of the canoe (and they are desperate enough they can smell contraband from a mile away), and not getting caught.
@PocketBrain Was an interesting time that canoe route. Was not fond of the worst of the summer months doing that but the spring and fall were absolutely lovely. Saw a bunch of eagles (there are nest boxes in the swamp). Summer daily 2-3pm thunderstorms and the kids losing the bug dope early each trip made that time of year was pretty miserable for living outside. I was not happy being in aluminum canoes in lightening (some places no shore to hide on). But there was some really cool stuff we'd see. Some gorgeous spiders and spider webs, wildlife (although sometimes a bit too close and personal), and the swish of canoeing through tall grass with blue sky overhead or the cyprus forests with all the hanging moss we'd paddle though made those trips unforgettable (so did the sometimes behavior of adjudicated youth but I am ignoring that LOL).
Saw a panther early one morning fishing off the end of a canoe once (we had tied them to trees as no room to bring them up on the bank). Wished I had a camera for that. It was the most astonishing thing to wake up to. I sat there watching it for close to a half hour until someone else work up, exited their tent and scared it off. Had a gaitor bite off the end of my canoe paddle once too. Another one submerged and passed under our canoe with his back going bump bump bump against the keel as he swam under it (he was at least 16 or 17 feet). I loved how the babies would think they were submerged with their backsides in the air, only their eyes showing in the front.
I feel like all of the good jokes were already taken, so I was just going to post a cat gif, but @mehcus already beat me to it, so I just wanted theoretical participation.
Maybe something about low crabs? Does Atkins have Crabs?
EDIT: Not sure why I capitalized Crabs in the last sentence, but I stand by it.
@Chops No Crabs are full of glycogen besides Atkins is in the mountains and about the closest to crabs you'll find there are crayfish and seamokeys, excluding Tammy down at the truckstop don'tcha know.
@Thumperchick Haha, wow, I have no idea how I even got to this topic.. I swore it was front page. I thought I was an early adopter on a hot new thread.
I also thought that was a Shakesperian skull complimenting my wordsmithing abilities.
Since we've already crossed that line, I'm going for it
Absolutely. Move to Atkins and you can eat whatever you want and never gain weight.
I think it depends. What do the people of Atkins, VA typically eat?
@hollboll If it's like the parts of virginia I know we eat mostly road kill.
@hollboll I was gonna say the cuisine tends to be lard infused with fried baloney sometimes.
@cranky1950 Like this?
@hollboll We call that liver mush these's a pentecostal cult devoted to it.
@cranky1950 My friend from Delaware told me all about it. Yikes.
@hollboll That looks offal.
I just go to my family's homes when I want to eat anything and everything. That way I'm always on a diet when I'm At Kins.
@cinoclav
@cinoclav
@MEHcus Any post that warrants a Dave Grohl gif is a win!
Whatever diet you're on in Atkins, VA is an Atkins diet so you're good to indulge in whatever health eroding foods you desire.
@denboy This is more information than I was seeking
@cranky1950 don't blame me that all the best things are bad for us.
@cranky1950 does this help? It seems like it will.

@joelmw I read gluteny as gluttony the first time through that sentence.

@Kidsandliz What, they couldn't hear the crunch-crunch? btw, Kingsland resident here, right off the St. Marys river.
@PocketBrain Melt in your mouth, not in your hands...

No!
You're in the Atkins diet, not on it.
I work at a company called Atkins, I eat lunch everyday. Am I on the Atkins diet now? I don't like that
