I bought one of these recently on Sidedeal or one of the other Mediocre sites. I bought it specifically because I loved that three line tote design. That design is not what was sent. It’s a blue/pink Chevron one instead.
Prior Meh offer of weighted blanket transformed my room into a beach as the sand leaked onto the bed and the floor. My next weighted blanket was weighted with only fabric. Won’t ever trust glass beads and sand
@intertext9 Decent brands use larger beads that stay in the quilted weight pockets. I’m not sure how big this one’s beads are. Really good brands may use special ceramic or high-density mineral-filled resin beads.
As for what’s in this one, the seller’s description on Amazon is a real headscratcher…

@IndifferentDude Googling it looks like you can machine wash it in warm water using a front loader that can take the load. Me personally I’d do it at the laundromat it just in case your home machine can’t handle it. Bigger dryer there too.
@IndifferentDude Put a cover on it, and then you only need to wash the removable cover. Also, once I washed a smaller one without a cover and I just took it out back and hosed it down and draped it over a chair to dry in the sun.
Plus, if you keep a flat sheet under it the bedsheet is what touches your body. And put a bedspread over it, the weighted blanket doesn’t really get dirty.

I suspect this is why they’re being sold on Meh; the Q&A on Amazon suggests that they are machine-washable but need to be line-dried.

The user said that tossing the blanket in the dryer was a huge mistake, as the beads apparently bashed the fabric so hard that the thing shredded; the mess was epic. I barely use a sheet in South Texas, but my BF has one that has really helped him sleep so much better… That’s a Good Thing. Of course he can afford to set his AC a lot lower than I can . Not sure what weight he uses, but he said the one he has wasn’t cheap. To me, it seems like I would feel suffocated as well… I will update this if I can before reset.

@xobzoo genuine question, does it make a difference? I would think cotton is breathable vs microfiber? (Source I have microfiber sheets that get super hot, cotton sheets that are more comfortable during hot weather, etc.)

I was just surprised that no one had brought it up yet, since all the microfiber sheets that get sold here have a bunch of “Where’s the cotton!” comments. I’d make fun of the “whiners” by saying “beggars can’t be choosers” or similar, but … I’ve kinda been holding out for cotton, too.
Husband loves them, I hate them. Had to buy a full last time to get the heavier weight, got the twin this time because I’m tired of partially being smothered in my sleep.

They’re not 100% what I expected. The advertised weight is correct, at least as accurately as I trust our scale, so that part is good. I haven’t measured them officially, but their size appears correct. (They’re quite a bit wider than necessary for “twin” size, but that’s okay.)

In short, I think we got a mixed batch of very similar blankets, but some of them don’t quite match what was advertised. I assume because they were (accidentally? dishonestly?) sold to mercatalyst under the “Rvqia” banner and not all sizes were inspected before reselling to us.
I’m a bit disappointed at how bland the gray is, but I can live with that. (That’s part of shopping at Meh, right?) But I am quite disappointed that one of them is polyester rather than cotton. I mean, I probably would’ve bought anyway (if I had known), but I was kinda excited that they were going to be cotton.

@jweber1145 Most of them are “washable” but whether or not you want a glob of 10/15/20 lbs slamming around in your washer or dryer is up to you. Also, the beads in SOME blankets are kind of notorious for falling out occasionally, so you’d have little micro beads gumming up the works as well. They have duvet covers for them, and that’s probably the way to go.
@RogerWilco I got two … the 15-pound (twin size) came in the bag shown. The 12-pound (also twin size) was much more hideousless attractive to me. (I recognize that the colors are probably fine for someone out there, but they’re not what I would pick for anything.)
I’m not terribly surprised that they came in different bag patterns, since that’s the quickest way to tell the sizes and weights apart, but … that probably should have been mentioned and shown in the photos.
It’s just arrived I ordered the queen I didn’t actually make sure that the size is a queen. It is definitely not a blanket for a queen size bed. Twin at best. Pretty disappointed that it said Queen and it is way too small for a queen size bed. I guess it’s on me though because it did have a size on there of 60 x 80.
@Philosopherott On one end of the bag there is a sticker stating the size and weight … do they match what you ordered? Mine are correct enough, but at least one other person says they got the wrong size.
I guess I’m just curious if it’s a case of wrong delivery, or just wrong expectations.

This is a novel idea. It’s a weighted blanket that can double as a dumbbell. So you can work out and then take a nap. Brilliant!
