Cadbury's Attacks Easter - Changes The Creme Egg
5So now apparently Kraft Foods, which bought Cadbury's a while ago, hates Easter and wants to ruin it forever.
They've changed out the chocolate in the creme eggs to a cheaper "mix" and reduced the number in a pack from 6 to 5 (without lowering the price of course).
How could they?! Easter is now ruined. Oh the humanity!

So...people won't buy them, Cadbury will need to get rid of them, and Meh will scoop them up and offer us a 200 pack for a dollar.
@parodymandotcom Coronary in a crate.
An important point...US Cadbury Creme eggs are not the same as the UK Cadbury Creme eggs. We've never ranked the 'good' chocolate.

Cadbury Cream Eggs changed in the U.S. many years ago. When they first came out the cream was actually runny like a real egg. At some point they turned it into more of a fondant style thick cream. They've pretty much sucked since then.
@Cinoclav This is 100% accurate. Though i still get the newer caramel ones.
@neuromancer Now this I can agree with! Caramel wins.
@Cinoclav Whenever I take a UK road trip, I bring back as many real eggs as I can carry.
@Cinoclav Yes!!
I buy one of those almost every year, thinking for whatever reason that I like them. I never do like them.
@milujite I feel the same way. Why am I so forgetful?
If they change out that disgusting cream, then talk to me. Cadbury makes some fine chocolate treats, but those eggs aren't one of them.
I rarely buy American chocolate. For store-candy I prefer Lindt. This was an interesting article:
Your Russell Stover Chocolates Will Now Be Made by Lindt
http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-07-14/your-russell-stover-chocolates-will-now-be-made-by-lindt
I hope this means Russel Stover will be better and not that Lindt will be worse.
@moondrake Ahhhh... Lindt. Many moons ago, I worked in one of their retail stores. It's still my favorite chocolate. Yum...think I need to go shopping now!
I have a Russian, Mexican and several Asian Groceries near by, they all have lovely candies / chocolates
@Foxborn German stores also have good chocolate, if you have any of those near you.
@katylava
@katylava the russian store has some of that too. specifically Milka
@Foxborn You can find some basic Milka bars at many supermarkets, Walmart, Target, etc. I just had a plain milk chocolate bar the other day.
Those things are the worst ever. I almost puked the first time I tried one. Nastiest Easter candy EVER.
@lisaviolet Thats disgusting! Now, if it was Best Foods or Hellmans I'd eat it with a spoon!
@lisaviolet That is hilarious and disturbing. Why can't I stop watching it???
All chocolate eggs are irrelevant until the FDA lifts the ban on Kinder Eggs.
@Cinoclav That reminds me...I have a 4 pack that was smuggled in for me. Woo hoo!
@Mavyn I'm headed to Canada for a ski trip next month. Deciding whether it's worth the risk to bring some back. Funny, I had brought a bunch back from France with no issues but try to return from Canada and people are being threatened with $2500 per egg fines.
@Cinoclav Spring Surprise!
@Cinoclav The French customs are a little more concerned with foie gras and wine, I think. :D
@Mavyn Forgot to update... 6 Kinder Eggs somehow found their way into my ski boots and survived the trip home. :)
@cinoclav Oh Yeah!
I'm not especially anti-GMO, but what scientists have done to rabbits to get them to produce these eggs seems beyond the pale to me
@matthew You have a problem with the bunny?
@matthew Or was this what you had in mind?
@matthew I'm stealing this joke
I was sorting through Halloween candy yesterday and came across 2 Cadbury eggs. Neither child could tell me when they received these eggs, for Easter or for Halloween. I decided to chuck them, even though sugar has a long shelf life. Then I read they are changing the recipe. To dumpster dive or not to dumpster dive, that is the question!
@mikibell They had purple wrappers for Halloween.
@Teripie And were called screme eggs. :)
@Teripie I love purple.
@Teripie Were they filled with green goo? Or was that just a packaging thing? I love Cadbury eggs, but those seemed very unappealing…
@Teripie @Mavyn You two know your candy seasons....
@mehjohnson For more than a decade, I've been exchanging 'bad candy' with my sister and friends. Fish head lollipops, durian flavored hard candy, plunger shaped lollipops to dip into super sour powder contained in a toilet bowl, white chocolate spaghetti, obscene shaped chocolates, candied bugs...I've probably forgotten more horrific candies than most people have seen. Add in that I've always had a sweet tooth...Yeah. I know my seasonal candies.
@mehjohnson Latest bad candy shipment.
@Mavyn I just went and tried to find the website sending you "bad candy" monthly before reading your previous post... I think you have a million dollar idea here... I would sub for 5.99 a month ;)
@thismyusername Finding good bad candy is tough. Especially avoiding duplicates.
@Mavyn Great idea!
Cadbury Creme Eggs are disgusting. Everyone knows it's Peeps that make Easter says the Easter non-celebrant.
@smoo99 One day, I will make it to the giant Peep drop at the Just Born NYE party. Some day.
@smoo99 you gotta let them sit around and get stale first, though. I ONLY CONSUME THE FINEST OF AGED PEEPS.
@smoo99 Robin's eggs. Best. Easter. Candy. Ever.
@smoo99 I am a fan of that grand misnomer, white chocolate. Decent quality white chocolate is hard to find most times of the year (hence the affection for Lindt white truffles), but Easter brings out a wider selection. Fear not, I also love dark chocolate, the more bitter and intense the better. I like to alternate bites of buttery, creamy white chocolate with sharp, pucker-worthy dark chocolate to keep my taste buds dancing.
@smoo99 Sorry, have to disagree. Cadbury Eggs are freaking excellent. So goddamn sweet they rot your teeth from 20 paces away. That's good stuff right there.
@smoo99 The only thing Peeps are good for is blasting in the microwave. Love to watch them blow up huge.
@Bingo I dislike the regular ones, which my husband craves. But I love the chocolate cream ones.
I like all the flavors of Creme Eggs. They are even better frozen.
@hallmike Never tried that. Now plan to try that.
@Lotsofgoats Peeps are best eaten fresh!
@moondrake Omg, the Lindt white truffles are freaking dangerous to my health. They're one of my all time favorites. Just the way they melt across your tongue....
@mehjohnson this is false. stale, or if you're all ~*technological*~ then dehydrated. trust me, I'm a collection of goats.
@Lotsofgoats Then you get lots of blame for this disinformation. The age-old argument. Fresh n soft represent! Just Born!
@mehjohnson "just born" you monster D:
I love purple.
@Teripie I love to eat peeps stale but we do love peep jousting. Put two peeps in the microwave, give each a toothpick and see who wins
@smoo99
PEEP SHOW
@Mehrocco_Mole
@Mehrocco_Mole Funny, when I go to the strip clubs I usually see chicks dancing.
I hate those things....
@lisaviolet Cadbury eggs rock. I have proof.
@hallmike Proof. Show me the proof.
Cadbury creme eggs are the best part of easter for me. Even better than jelly beans. If you like Cadbury chocolate, caramel, and peanut butter, and you're ever in Canada, pick up a wunderbar. Simply amazeballs. I talked about them in the Halloween candy thread.
@jsh139 Omg - I didn't recall seeing you post this but when I was there last month I DID buy a Wunderbar. And then I bought another 4 pack to bring home. Yes, they may now be my all time favorite candy bar. Like a lighter Butterfinger with caramel on it.
@jsh139
@cinoclav The BEST!!!
These are the best Cadbury easter candy made in and sold in the USA....
I do love to hit up the candy shop and get an IMPORTED cadbury dairy milk bar from the UK now and again... damn fine product.
Couldn't you buy Cadbury eggs on Amazon.uk.co and get the international version?
