Leak Frog was replaced by Leak Dog and Leak Ladybug. Those are no longer made either. Last I checked on Bezozon you can only get boring, functional ones for a reasonable price.
We recently had a toilet seal leak that was detected by a toy Axoloti. I had gotten the cute little fella at a toy shop. It has those 2 metal dots on the bottom that you touch to close a circuit and cause it to flash in different colors.
It was an impulse buy that had no purpose, but then I thought to put it on the floor behind the (Toto) toilet because every now and then the gasket leaks and the floor gets wet. I expected it to only work when the actual event happened.
HOWEVER, I was walking past the toilet the other day and lo and behold, the Axolotl was flashing. I NEVER thought it would work that good, so I was happily surprised.

That was a good call on placement. Just picked up a new toilet to replace an over 20 year old model in our half bath off the den. I hate messing with those damn wax floor gaskets, but it has to be done.
@chienfou@mediocrebot Yeah, if I had the time+energy, then I think I could make the little fella more active then the lights. I could tap into the circuit and attach a raspberry pi to it that would send an alert to me and/or fire up a speaker.

@Kyeh Ok, I will. Any little toy that has a flat bottom with the two metal dots will do. Here is one I have that also makes Pikachu sounds. I think it would be better :
See those two metal circles? That’s how you close the circuit. I will post a picture of the Axolotl setup later.
I have one, heck, after our near catastrophe I went out and bought several, one for every place that could be a potential problem! 🛟
Last year it saved me (and my downstairs neighbor ) lots of headaches and money when the furnace sprung a leak.
@VixenJules- Sorry that happened, hopefully it wasn’t too costly. On the brighter side, it could be a good opportunity to refresh things.
@Lynnerizer My friend’s Mom-in-law was one of the last people to get Polio. As a result, her toilet overflowed and flooded the downstairs neighbor to the tune of maybe $10,000. I found a gizmo that would cut off the toilet water when it detected an overflow. The bad news was he had to go over time and again to reset the gizmo. The good news was it never flooded again.

So far with they’re managing pretty well. Today’s day 5. Their friends think they’re incredibly brave to still be in the house … like old time pioneers or something. Worst part is my SIL is work from home so I think he’s having to burn through some personal time. Daughter is a teacher at the school the granddaughter goes to. They’re enjoying an extended break. Hopefully it won’t burn through so many days that they have to revisit their spring break since we have cruise tickets booked during that time. Oh well, guess she’ll be missing those days too!
Leak Frogs saved my basement more than once!

That ship had already sailed when meh offered these almost 7 years ago!

@chienfou
Mine sits in the pan under the water heater. That was how I discovered that the roof jack was leaking.

@mediocrebot Thank you little fella! It will be ok, I promise.

@cfg83 Thanks!
@cfg83 @Kyeh There are many smart wifi enabled options available at around $15 and up if you’re willing to place your trust in the almighty cloud.

@kuoh @Kyeh Yes, these are much better but not as fun. I guess you could glue an Axolotl toy to the top.

My kids have been “powerless” in Nashville the past 4 days. Thankfully their pipes have survived thus far.
@chienfou Yeah, I always sing to stay warm.

I loved Leak Frogs!
but all of mine have stopped working over the years.
