I own the Braven Bridge Bluetooth speakerphone device (also from Meh, I believe). It is outstanding quality in every respect - battery life, audio quality (speaker and mic), build, materials, etc. I cannot claim that this speaker is a good value, but imo, Braven makes quality gear.
(sniff) I was so worried that we weren’t going to see a bluetooth speaker after all those batteries. Ones that i welcomed and bought a few of. I mean what is Meh if not a place that sells a multitude of bluetooth speakers?
I don’t have this, but I do have a different BRAVEN Bluetooth speaker that I got from meh and I love it. Great audio quality, super long battery life, easy to connect. It just works. I’d buy this brand again.
@unksol Hmm… I’m late to the party and didn’t know hating on Monster was a thing. I have the speaker shaped like an army gas can and it’s been great. Clear sound, good bass, decent volume and outstanding battery life. Maybe I just got lucky. Or maybe I have low standards. You should see my taste in women…
@stormshadow999 monster is pretty much hated for being an awful unethical company trying to trick people into buying overpriced cables that were “faster” and other such nonsense. When a cable is just a cable. It was a huge thing with best buy. It’s even in their Wikipedia page lol
“Instead of advertising, Monster offers incentives to retailers and their salespeople to sell the cables. Retailers bundle high profit-margin cables with larger purchases that have smaller margins in order to improve profitability.”
This resulted in sales people lying that you really need this BS overpriced cable to see all the colors or other creative shit just to get commissions. Nothing is technically wrong with their products. I’ll buy something they made from meh or wherever if it’s the right price. They just… Are not a good company/ruined their own reputation.
@blaineg@unksol I was in college the first time I heard about Monster cables and couldn’t afford them anyway, but saw through the hype almost immediately. I didn’t think them slapping their name on a BT speaker was in the same realm of make-believe as their “magical” cables, though.
I have this, and honestly, if I had any extra monies, I’d buy another one just for boating. It’s by far the best portable speaker I’ve ever witnessed. If you’re into quality sounding loud music, (because, why not??), this is definitely worth it!!
And also - I paid twice as much for mine. Still worth it.
@w5ukf The Forbes reviewer said it was the best outdoor performing bluetooth speaker they’d ever heard. Listed mfr provided specs to be 4 full range speakers getting 15W a piece and one sub woofer getting 40W for a total of 100W. Quite a bit of power at this price point and also easy to see they liked it so much better out of doors than in. The atmospherics and ambient noise outside kill a lot of the sound field clarity provided by dividing the highs and lows between separate woofers and tweeters. Being able to focus 15W into each of 4 full range drivers makes the performance both efficient and loud (the review stated that amount of air being pushed through the 5 speaker cones was instantly noticeable) w/o distortion. It lacks the stereo quality sound 2 separate channels and separate woofs & tweets would provide for listening indoors but even w/the best stereophonic outdoor PA speakers you lose the stereo effect once you move more than a few feet away. Add in 40W going to the sub woofer + passive radiators and you have what is essentially a high powered TV sound bar (with the sep. subwoofer built in) in a sturdy, water resistant outdoor cabinet with enough battery power to run it continuously for a 4-5 hours. The only reason I haven’t already bought two of them (which would create an insane 60W per channel outdoor sound system plus 80W of low end thump for less than the retail price of 1) is the apparent lack of even a stereo mini plug for connecting a sound source. If it’s really bluetooth only (and not even A2DP enhanced) that kills a fair amount of the potential functionality, especially of buying 2. Still, at this price point, you’d seemingly have 1 helluva outdoor socially distanced small party speaker! Sorry to ramble on. I guess could have just listed the specs Forbes provided and moved on…
@orphum@w5ukf yeah. All the reviews said BT only and as its next to a mic in I’m guessing their related. I left a question on the ZAGG site about this and dual mode stereo. I’m hoping they give me a good reason NOT to buy this! That blender broke my wallet!
at this price, it should include stereo(although probably not a big deal if you only use it outdoors).
i don’t think it has the ability to separate the stereo signals and send them each to a different unit. That is not indicated anywhere in the specs, either here or on Amazon. It is enough of a selling feature that they would advertise it. Two separated speakers do not equal stereo.
while the below info doesn’t guarantee true 2 channel stereo… it probably comes as close any mid range driver dominant speaker system ala Bose 601s to reproducing stereo sound w/o woofers and tweeters. I left a question addressing this on the ZAGG product page but doubt they respond before sale ends.

I bought the previous version of this a few years ago and LOVE it! This one appears to be updated with a bottle opener and a few cosmetic changes. The sound is great. Excellent bass. I mostly use it for outdoor movies. Highly recommend!
@imjustabrian I saw that, but what is not known is if pairing of any sort (from 2 to 100) provides true stereo configuration. Meaning, if I have 1 unit, it plays both left and right channels. If I have 2 units, do both play left and right, or does one become the left channel and the other the right channel? True stereo split pairing is what many desire, so that the 2 units can act as a physically separated left and right channels.
Bought the original from here and it’s still the most badass Bluetooth speaker ever. Excited to get the updated model. Also, customer service from Braven, even if you bought it here, is amazing. They sent me the strap for free! (It didn’t come with the refhrb I bought here) Also, they didn’t even ask me to cover shipping. Amazing company that I will happily continue to do business with.
Hi everyone. We have an unfortunate situation brewing on this event that we’re still in the midst of tracking down with Zagg’s help. There’s an email headed your way with at least temporary bad news. I jumped in to see if I could help and will post back with any solutions found.
@snapster I purchased two speakers in two separate orders (initially talked myself out of ordering two from the get-go, then later that night decided to splurge). I want to be sure that there will be no problems with my reimbursement for both, ability to reorder two if they are available again, and discount codes (hopefully two in this case).
Zagg webpages, customer service, and phone lines have all been down for two days. Twitter account claims botched “routine server maintenance” but combined with our shipping snafu this doesn’t bode well…
@mcdokolas fyi, we’ve taken the liberty of refunding everyone so that Meh is not benefiting from the situation. Technically your order is cancelled but we’re holding everyone’s place in line to reserve again once a solution is found.
For anyone not receiving the email advisement regarding the cancellation, here’s the full text:
Development: Braven Speakers Currently Missing in Transit.
Zagg, the brand owner of Braven, is working to liquidate all Braven inventory and shutter the Braven brand in a larger corporate response to the pandemic. While we verified shipment through distribution, and the transport we were assured contained the 300 XXL arrived, the speakers are currently missing. Your order was set to ship from our warehouse Friday and we failed to make this promise date. We will continue working with Zagg and their distribution channels until we locate the missing speakers. While we are tracking them down, we are proactively refunding you in full. As soon as we have the solution ready we’ll email you and get you reserved access to place your order (or decline at your option).
This is the worst case scenario in our business and we know it’s very frustrating for everyone. In addition to the full refund, we’re generating $20 off coupons assigned to your account - use the coupon code WHEREAREYOUBRAVEN when checking out. You may use this anytime this year including on a Braven XXL solution to come. Finally, we’re sorry about the trouble, we are increasing controls to insure we aren’t in this position again. Please let us know if you have any questions.
BOOOOOOOOO damn I was really looking forward to getting my drink on, whilst sitting in a trash can on my balcony to cool my “bits” down. (Thanks COVID-19). IF they do arrive, please email me ASAP. I know you said that but I never even got the notice. I had to come here to learn its sad fate.
I’m still gonna hope it comes in. Figures with my luck first time ordering from here goes bust but at least the company takes action right away and doesn’t leave it’s customers hanging . So I’m gonna remain optimistic
How do we get on the list to be notified when they are found? I never received the official response someone posted above. Just an email saying it was cancelled. Why not another email with the response and explanation? It would probably have avoided you guys several support messages as I just sent one before I found this thread. Please have better communication with your customers and go out and find these speakers that we all purchased and are eagerly waiting for. Fingers crossed!
@RiotDemon Thanks I did find it. It’s good to know they didn’t leave us totally hanging as I originally thought. Here’s a shout out to the guy/gal in charge of tracking these things down, if there is really such a guy/gal. Hoping they are successful!
I had hoped to nail this down by today. Some more transparency: Chances are diminished from what I initially thought. I believe a large smiley-face retailer was able to pull quantity out of a held order before it shipped. While we are direct, a middleman distributor was in the mix on this inventory. We don’t know if they were wronged or if they pushed their luck trying to broker a held PO before submitting payment. We were wrong to trust they had them in hand.
If Zagg is truly liquidating them, why not see about acquiring stock directly from them without a middleman. You can show you had X users looking to buy X units in an attempt to get a wholesale deal. I mean I know the Braven XL is currently half off I just got mine in the mail. Works pretty dope also so far. Most important thing on it tho, is by far the bottle opener But the XL does sound great for $99 down from $199 on its own website.
