Bluetooth + Android Question
0I’m using the aux-out of a Bluetooth speaker I bought here to connect to an old stereo. And pairing it with an android phone. It works great, except that the volume is much lower than it should be. For example, I need to turn that stereo’s volume all the way up to 70 to get the same loudness that it normally gives when set to about 40. (so it’s only about half as loud as it should be)
For the heck of it one day I dusted off an old windows phone & paired it with the same speaker/stereo. I was amazed… the audio levels were perfect! Exactly as loud as if I were using a physical cable. Then I tried pairing that windows phone with various other Bluetooth items I’d purchased from Meh over the years. Everything was about twice as loud now! A cheap $3 waterproof speaker now became loud enough to hear in the shower.
Since Meh sells so many Bluetooth items, I was wondering if anyone out there had a solution. My Android phone is already rooted, if that helps. There has to be a way to get around Android limiting the Bluetooth volume so much? I’ve tried everything I can think of, but no luck yet…

Stupid question… When you connect your android, do you turn the volume up on the phone?
@RiotDemon Not a stupid question. But yes, I turn the volume all the way up on my phone.
There’s apps to boost volume if you’re rooted (which you are) so you should try a few and see if that works any better.

Just one example. Volume+ was big back in the day, but not sure if it’s current anymore. You can find plenty of others in the play store.
@ACraigL Thanks for the recommendations. Tried a few Bluetooth volume apps that didn’t work. But, didn’t try either of the ones you mentioned. Will definitely give them both a shot + test a few more!
When I’m using any kind of headphone, when I go to turn up the volume, I get an error message that warns me of the dangers of listening at loud volumes. I have to override that message to continue increasing the volume.
Is it possible that your rooted system doesn’t let you override it and just gets stuck at the 50% mark?
@cengland0 Interesting. Is definitely something I’ll look into!
I do remember a nag bubble/notification when using wired headphones & turning up the volume past a certain point. Something like, “listening at a high volume for a long period of time may damage your hearing”. It never actually prevented me from turning up the volume though. Was just pure nagging Perhaps it really is limiting the Bluetooth volume however.
@cengland0
I consider my hearing damaged.
I might blame Led Zep live 5th row tho.
look under sound and notification in settings. There is a sound enhancement screen, monkey with that and see what happens.
@cranky1950 Thanks, will do. It’s possible I overlooked something there.
