Crap, I hadn’t looked at the updates in a few hours. I didn’t realize how much worse it had gotten. My heart is breaking for them and our country as a whole.
My heart aches today. My city, the place that I have lived for 17 years, that brought me my wife, my friends, my career, my education, my heroes and my home is in disarray. As I drove to work today I found myself actively hoping to run into traffic, to see life going on as if nothing had happened. But that wasn’t the case. The highways were emptier than they usually are, no doubt some afraid to leave their homes. As I peered in to the cars that were around me I found blank stares on the faces of most and tears in the eyes of some. I found myself overcome with emotion.
I’m proud of my city. I’m proud of the men and women that ran into the face of fear last night. That put their lives on the line to protect those that were there to protest their very existence. I’m proud of the incredible actions of the many to combat the cowards that took it upon themselves to shove fear into our hearts. I’m proud of the protestors that remained peaceful in the face of uncertainty. I’m proud to see my community come together in support of one another.
This is my city. This is my home. This is my heart. We will persist.
@MEHcus I’m glad you went to work today, and I hope that life can get back to normal quickly.
It seems that some people are trying to foment a social war that most of us don’t want. It’s hard enough to find our way through the problems we have already, we certainly don’t want any more spreading of fear or terror.
I lived in the Metroplex for 3 or 4 years (Ft. Worth Poly and Near Southside.) The neighbors we had were pretty diverse, but we all knew to pull together and hang tough. I know y’all will be fine. Take care of each other. I know it sounds kind of 60’s, but

I’ve spent much of my life in DFW. This area has its problems, but it’s no urban war zone. I believe this will bring everyone here closer together, not create an urban state of war or high tension. At least I hope so.
My heart goes out to everyone who has ever lost anyone they cared for to senseless violence, especially to those close to our most recent persons lost to us.
As are our prayers. Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo
Chilling.
Thank you! Can’t quite wrap my head around it…
Are all our Meh staffers safe?
@Kleineleh I believe so!
Fucking crazy in a really awful way.

Things are getting out of control.

Breaks my heart. Hoping may family and friends that live there are safe.
@MzSooze are any of them in law enforcement? It seems to have been a closely targeted attack with no civilian casualties.
@jbartus Not that I know of. Luckily, several have checked in as safe via Facebook.
