@Octomeh I’m voting for Justin Timberlake as the best host. He was hilarious.
And no, I’m not a former teeny bopper fan of his, I don’t like any of his music that I’ve heard (except of course the digital shorts like dick in a box)
As much as I love Gilda (rest her soul and Gene Wilder too), Kate McKinnon has proven extraordinary, apt, versatile, poignant, witty, and entirely extraordinary.
@chienfou He was a phenomenal singer. He did the best solo rendition of O Danny Boy I’ve ever heard. I think it was a St. Patrick’s Day show and he was dressed like a leprechaun sitting on a mushroom singing. They were putting captions on the screen and the audience was laughing but I just wanted to hear him sing. I love that song and he slayed it.
Didn’t vote in time but Eddie was the best. I have much love for many of the others, with the exception of Kristen wiig (who is genuinely talented but her recurring characters were genrerally super annoying).
Gilda Radner
@ironcheftoni she was awesome! As was John Belushi and the rest of that crew. Nice they are remembered.
MEALS! DEALS! EELS! AWESOME!
Dan Akroyd
All the originals!
@lonocat yes!
Gilda Radner
Chevy Chase!
But yeah, the originals.
Bill Hader
@cmafba his range was never fully realized on SNL. I’m glad he’s got Barry.
John Belushi
/giphy Chris Farley
@togle
/youtube van down by the river
I loved Phil Hartman.
/giphy Phil Hartman
@remo28 he made every sketch better and I stopped watching when he died
GILDA RADNER
SNL was best when comedy could be comedy and the cast members had no fear of being cancelled.
Who made up that list-they should be fired.
Dan Aykroyd
John Belushi
No doubt, Gilda Radner…and a long second, Jane Curtain.
@Tadlem43 Tadlem, you ignorant *lut!
@GrandmaLyn LOL I had forgotten about that. lol
I was almost offended. lol
@Tadlem43

@2many2no That’s no Shmee the Bee.

@stinks You’re right, it’s not. It’s years before that.
Eric Idle! (his hostings were GOAT episodes)
@Octomeh No, Christopher Walken is the GOAT SNL Host. And Will Ferrell, GOAT cast member.

@Octomeh Father Guido Sarducci
@Octomeh I’m voting for Justin Timberlake as the best host. He was hilarious.

Do Muppets count as cast?
John Belushi for sure, but I have to give a strong second place to Chris Farley, both these guys are comedy legends who changed the game forever.
/giphy kyle mooney
@medz Nope. You must be confusing Kyle Mooney with Paul Mooney.
Kyle Mooney is just some guy trying to do a lame impersonation of Steven Wright on coke.
@mike808 No although I agree he was the best cast member of Dave Chappelle show.
@medz Besides Dave himself.
@mike808 eh…
Belushi…
I must say John Belushi and Gilda Radner were both comic legends that helped put SNL on the map.
I assume Gilda must’ve had some more sophisticated, subtle skits that I don’t remember. All of her popular skits were just her acting annoying/silly.
Yes, Gilda and Belushi were the best
Seems like Eddie Murphy is the best if all the “other”s are so divided between belushi, Farley, and Radner. (Personally I think it’s Farley)
Literally none of those listed are worthy of debating for the title. I feel this was done on purpose.
As much as I love Gilda (rest her soul and Gene Wilder too), Kate McKinnon has proven extraordinary, apt, versatile, poignant, witty, and entirely extraordinary.
@brainmist I have to agree. I think she’s one of the greats!
Phil Hartman.
Bill Hader or Phil Hartman
Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Billy Crystal, Jon Lovitz, Martin Short
Tina Fey
The ‘Not Ready for Prime Time Players’…and those right after them.
Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Billy Crystal, Gilda Radner
What about poor old
Mr. Bill?
Does he count?
@ELJAY OH, NOOOOOOoooooooo!!
Garrett Morris.
@tweezak
Still think of him every time I hear O Tannenbaum…
@chienfou He was a phenomenal singer. He did the best solo rendition of O Danny Boy I’ve ever heard. I think it was a St. Patrick’s Day show and he was dressed like a leprechaun sitting on a mushroom singing. They were putting captions on the screen and the audience was laughing but I just wanted to hear him sing. I love that song and he slayed it.
