@LaserEyes It’s on my DVR (Mr. Robot, not Lego) but I haven’t watched it yet. The first half of this final season has been disappointing but the second half has been steadily improving, so I’m looking forward to the finale.
I had similar feelings about the last season of Legion - overall disappointing, but I thought the ending was satisfying.
@macromeh I’ve been so excited to see the last season of Legion! We’ve been patiently waiting and haven’t seen any of it yet. Waiting for Hulu to get it. Or for me to build up enough Amazon slow ship credit rewards.
Re: Mr. Robot: I feel like season 3 was better, but this season might work well binge watching it since most happened in such a short time period. Plus I can’t wait to re-watch the whole thing anyway!
@LaserEyes Yeah, those first couple seasons of Mr. Robot had me hooked (I actually started watching in the middle of season 2, was intrigued and went back to catch up). But then I thought things started going downhill with 3. I just hope the finale is satisfying.
I really enjoyed the first season of Legion (S1E7 was a work of art IMHO), season 2 a little less, then almost gave up part way through season 3, but stuck with it and thought they did a pretty good job of wrapping up the story in the end. YMMV

Movies aren’t as much my thing as the bigger works (books, comics, TV series), episodic or not. I like a slow pacing and a story that is trying to stand up as… fully realized, as opposed to leaning hard on genre conventions as pillars of the plot that is otherwise unexplained – I think that’s more of a thing now with “international” audiences being a bigger target. And then I haven’t developed much of a taste for grown-up movies that’re arty or literary, so, there isn’t much of a home in a theater for me any more.
Completely forgot: I did watch that Ford vs. Ferrari movie. It was pretty good, as long as you don’t take it too seriously, “true story” being more oxymoronic than jumbo shrimp, you axe me (especially in cinema).
I’ve seen a minimum of 30 Hallmark Christmas & even 1 Hanukkah/Christmas crossover movie in the last month if that counts for anything…A couple of them weren’t terrible. I’d go so far as to say I enjoyed a few of them.
@tohar1 Did you see A Veteran’s Christmas? Some of my family did and were relentlessly mocking it for the poor acting and apparently obnoxious and inappropriate laughter. I’ve not seen it, but it was the first time I kinda wished I had seen a Hallmark movie in… since I saw my first or second one, probably. The first I might have been able to enjoy as a formulaic paycheck for some actors and filmmakers, but the second would have used the exact same formula, and creative work like films should not come from a cookie cutter production line.
Anyway, A Veteran’s Christmas features a woman sent back from Afghanistan and a dog still over there named Christmas, and I’m sure you’ve written the story now. It’s apparently amusingly bad, if you’re into that sort of thing.
@jsfs Pretty sure they will not win any screen actors guild awards for their portrayals & yes, there is certainly a fair amount of cookie-cutter screenplays, but that said, I do enjoy watching the movies. They are clean (language, sex, booze/drugs, etc.) which is just fine (no one would ever call me a prude) and Hallmark must make a crazy amount of money as the viewership rivals if not surpasses that of network television.
Nobody included the new Jumanji movie!?!?? You do have to see the other one with the Rock in it to fully appreciate it, but these Jumanji movies are great!
I saw Ernest Saves Christmas, an endearing holiday classic which holds up surprisingly well, but I mostly voted in the poll to see which of the movies in my watch list I should target first.
@jitc Same here. Last time I went to a movie theater to watch a movie was for Unbroken. The WWII POW that was a runner for the Olympics. I remember it being damn expensive for just me and the wife!
I’ve only seen Star Wars and that’s cuz we scheduled a babysitter, planned it with my wife’s coworkers months ahead of time, and made it our date night (which we get once every 2 months). I want to see Knives Out. I shall wait for the authorities to put it on Netflix. Until then, there is no reason here.

Just saw Rise of Skywalker. I have to admit, it was better than I expected. Of course, my expectations were built down by ep. 8.
