So my grandma made/mom makes blueberry squares. In summer. Except you top them with this lemon/powder sugar drizzle on top that like. Puffs up into this crisp, sweet tart… strands on top.
@Kyeh I think other simmilar recipes just call them blueberry bars. Although they never went that far. More just bottom pastry/blueberry/top pastry/lemon drizzle. On a 13x9. But it works.
@Kyeh I’d say a very light crust like a pie then the whole lemon drizzle at the end, but because it’s already hot than baked it… for a minute it kind of bakes it/gives some texture. It’s different than a crumb… you would think I would have the thing for this guy just the Christmas cookies cause sisters have the recipe box and never get to it

There was a lady that owned a store around here that closed during CoVid so I never got to ask for her recipe but she made the BEST blueberry lemon scones. They weren’t regular scones that were soft and fluffy they were a little dense and dare I say hard but had a tiny bite to them but just made them perfect. I’ve looked at so many blubbery scone recipes trying to find that one.
@Kyeh looks like more crust/less filling or… Less stratified. That may be down to their crust recipe which I have made before. They are also pretty thin/you get a square not a bar etc. But there is lots of nostalgia built into that whole thing.
It would not be the same to me. But they probably taste similar/look pretty good. I would suggest making them.
@Kyeh@werehatrack in don’t dislike kiwi. But it also sounds like a yougurt combo. Are strawberry banana people regularly cutting up strawberries and bananas and just. Eating them?
I have my doubts. Strawberry-Rhubard pie/jam is a thing.
I guess you could jam any two fruits but.

@unksol So is there a crust, like with pie? Or just a kind of cakey texture?
@Kyeh I’d say a very light crust like a pie then the whole lemon drizzle at the end, but because it’s already hot than baked it… for a minute it kind of bakes it/gives some texture. @Kyeh I mean it’s just a lemon glaze but something about the way it was done made it more crisp/puffed than gooey.
We definitely never stole the crisp bits before it was served. Cause the lines of the stolen pieces didn’t show up…
@unksol Like this maybe?
